  1. Looks like some of them have names, might be the newer ones(who knows what new is for this company). I don't know anything about the company.
  2. There actually isn't anything. Just a "default" barcode that doesn't seem to give any information
  3. Was wondering if anyone knew what "model" these baits might be. I probably should just buy them, but I like to know "specs" on things I buy. Thanks and have good one! Pete
  4. I tried the Albright. I think for me the issue was not being able to keep the wrapped line all nice and tight to make it look like a coil. I like seeing the hi-vis braid. I really like the sensitivity too. I figured instead of doing straight braid or flouro, I could use one spool on line to setup two reels I also suppose it could be the quality of the braid and fluoro. I'm using Yo-Zuri Super Braid and Seagur(red label).
  5. Got my rod and reel all setup. Used 8lb mono backing, 20lb hi-vis braid main line, and 8lb flouro leader. The mono and flouro line are the same diameters .235 and the braid is .23 I noticed that the braid to flouro knot catches a little in the tip. I used a uni to uni connection knot and it looks alright. I'm wondering if I need to do less wraps with the braid or maybe try a different knot. I tried the Alberto or maybe it was the Albright, but I couldn't seem to get that right. Thanks and a good one! Pete
  6. I just pick up the rod to have one. Before last year it had been several years since I fished. I love the moderate-fast casting rod I've been using for crankbaits. I can tell by using that rod, that a fast action (to me) is way better for things like spinners and chatterbaits. Again, the main thing for me is to use the line more to detect bites when using plastics
  7. I have to get in the habit of watching my line more to detect bites. I rely a lot on looking at the rod tip, which was more what I was referring too(I should have clarified). If I wait to see the bite on my rod tip, I could end up hurting or killing bass.
  8. My concern(maybe it's not valid) with using an extra-fast action is that I could possibly detect the bite too soon and miss fish because they wouldn't have the bait in their mouth.
  9. I've really been getting more into fishing this year and am starting to piece together setups for specific techniques. I have the rod in the title, St. Croix Eyecon series. I have a Dobyn's Fury Crankbait rod(casting) and it works great. I just picked up a Dobyn's Fury Spinning rod (M/F) that I will use for wacky rigs, Neko, and probably try a ned rig and dropshot. Are there any specific techniques that I could start using in my growing arsenal that would work well with a M/XF spinning rod? Thanks and have a good one!
  10. Just noticed that my main spinning reel isn't sounding quite right. I need to do some basic maintenance on it and was curious to know about specific oil and grease to use. One article I read suggested oil and grease from Penn. What would you all suggest? I've also heard that CRC in the red can is good for cleaning parts. Thanks and have a good one!
  11. Minnesota doesn't have CNR all year round?
  12. I really appreciate all your input! Seems like you know a thing or two I hope you have a great season! Tight lines my friend
  13. What is the reasoning behind trying to keep the diameter the same? I'm guessing castability and less chance of the knots hanging up in the reel or line guides
  14. Have to see what I have. I did buy some 10# mono for backing and then 10# braid for the main line and some Seagur FC for leader material. I might have some 20# braid.
  15. Great advice! I'm not sure I would even notice a difference between a 1 and 2 power rod. Just trying to make my fishing experiences more solid by having more specific gear for different techniques.
  16. I'm just between a rock and a hard place. I work weekends and my wife works during the week and the 1 year old keeps us both busy. The lake I live just a few blocks from isn't that great of a fishery. So when I do have time to fish, that's where I go. I'm not sure if I'm fishing the ned correctly or if it's the fishery. The lake also has a ton of weeds which I know isn't good for ned, I just want to catch a decent one on it. I would probably have better luck with a drop shot, wacky rig, or shakey head. Thanks for the input so far
  17. 661SF and 662SF is the exact model? I'm wondering if maybe the ned rig won't work that great since there really isn't any clear water. I'd love to have specific more specific rods for certain setups. I'm wondering how a medium power, extra fast action rod would work for either of these setups...
  18. Who has one and what are your thoughts? Pros and cons? Looking for a ned rig rod but also want to try some drop shot, wacky rigs, Neko, etc. Could this be used as an all around finesse rod? Or should I consider a medium rod with fast or moderate fast action? Thanks and have a good one!
  19. That is a great tool! Thanks so much. I never would have thought something like that would exist, although I'm not too surprised. I'm horrible and estimating things like length, distance, etc., is there an inexpensive way to measure how much line goes on the reel?
  20. Since my reel holds 160 yards of braid, I should for example use something like 90 yards of backing and 60 yards of braid and then my leader of about 6-8 feet? I should have specified earlier that I have never used a leader before but want to have the increase of sensitivity and a little more durable line than mono.
  21. So you use mono as backing, braid as a main and flouro as a leader, if I'm understanding correctly? Do you run into any issues having that many "connections"?
  22. I was thinking of use mono to flouro for a ned rig setup, but am thinking that braid is going to be a better option. I have already purchased 8lb Segar (red box) as my leader material. What size braided line is a option? I'm also curious to know about length. I know some people do half braid and half flouro, while others only do a 6 or 7 foot leader. Won't be fishing deep water at all since I can only fish from the bank. My concern with half and half is that the more I re-rie the better the odds of the leader knot going through my reel and eyes. Not sure if that would mess anything up or not. Thanks and have a good one!
  23. Do you think there is a rod that can do decent job for all three techniques? I think a moderate fast would be a good action to ensure hooksets with a wacky rig, drop shot, and ned rig. I can't afford to have a dedicated setup for every technique
  24. Looking for more of a ned rig rod but would also like to use it for wacky rigs and drop shotting. What do you all suggest? Price point around 150, not picky on brand. Thanks and have a good one!
