  1. I feel like maybe I didn't explain myself well enough. But I'm not sure. Not so much that I wouldn't consider the drag to be "smooth", but when adjusting the drag it goes from super high to super low with adjustment or vice versa. Like a small bluegill pulling drag, when it probably shouldn't. Then when I adjust to be higher and hook a bass, feels like the line is going to snap. Like there is no in between setting, but maybe that is what you consider not "smooth"
  2. I apologize if this is in the wrong section, but it is reel related. I have a BPS Micro Lite Elite spinning reel. It's not that bad of a reel; small, light, looks nice, smooth and performs reasonably. My issue(probably others as well), is the drag is pretty bad off. It's either too loose or too tight. Doesn't seem to a good in between setting. Is this something that can be changed, such as using different drag washers or adding/taking them out? Thanks and tight lines!
  3. Doesn't seem that overpriced. 25 bucks for over 2000 yards of the Ande Tournament monofilament. It's also significantly smaller than the current 2lb mono I'm using. I figure it would help with casting distance.
  4. I was thinking more specifically bright colored line. I like the visibility but don't like using braid on the shallow spools
  5. What color green are you using? I'm assuming you are using a bright colored green? Because technically I have "green" line. SOS Trout Magnet 2lb is "green" but it's more of a natural green. I haven't tried Power Pro, but I don't like using braid on mono on the smaller reels. A little wind makes a bad day for me, in fact I think I'll be switching back to mono for all my setups. I'm thinking of using a brighter mono line to clear mono line for my jig and drop shot rods rods for panfish and my soft plastic rod for bass
  6. I have a Dobyns FR663SF. No issues with it for me. Use it for senkos, ned rigs, texas rigs, etc, etc; essentially any single hook setup. But I've also been thinking, I remember growing up using one rod. Probably a fast action with no more than 8lb mono. Used single and treble hook spinners, jigs, poppers, other top water, banjo minnow, Bill's worms, crankbaits; basically everything. Recently I've been telling myself to not complicate things so much. Maybe change up the power of the rod depending on species and size of fish you catch, but don't overthink too much. Hope this helps
  7. Don't think we have those in my neck of the woods. I'll probably just have to order the line I've been thinking about and hope the fish and I like it. It's like 25 bucks for a 1/4 spool. I've certainly spent and lost a lot more on things I thought I would like?‍♂️
  8. I totally spaced that there was an "Other Species" spot on the forum. I'm sorry admins. Good to hear about the line color. I guess I should just buy some and find out. Problem is if I don't like it I'll have over 2000 yards of it
  9. Does bright colored line effect fishing for panfish? I'm always on the hunt for different line, especially for panfish. I do not like braid to mono on small reels but like the visibility. I've been looking at Ande Tournament 2lb mono. Their 2lb mono is significantly smaller than the current 2lb mono I like. I wouldn't be opposed to using a leader of either mono or flouro. Also, are there any advantages to using IGFA line? Thanks in advance and tight lines! Can't wait for open water here in Wisconsin
  10. I've been enjoying some UL fishing. Specifically jigs and soft plastics from Mule Fishing. 1/64oz jigs and like 1 inch plastics.
  11. I might go for the 4lb. The 4lb is like .015mm larger than the 2lb I'm using. That might be worth, if I don't lose the casting distance.
  12. Anyone use this line? Looks like decent line and is only .12mm which is smaller than SOS 2lb. Really liking my switch back to mono, especially on smaller reels like my President 20x.
  13. I was hoping for a medium power to help with fighting bigger fish. But I suppose a ML would do fine if the drag is set properly.
  14. Ouch. That price though. You don't have any issues keeping the fish hooked because of the fast action?
  15. Looking for a spinning rod that I can use for lighter cranks. Lures like floating Raps, Cricket Hoppers, small squarebill, etc, etc. Having a hard time finding a moderate fast action spinning rod. Maybe a moderate is more suitable. Looking for something in the 6' to 7' but don't really want anything longer than 7'. If you have some suggestions for fast action rods, I wouldn't be opposed to that. I have a Dobyn's crankbait casting rod that works well with cranks and an Okuma Celilo UL that works great for smaller cranks. Just looking for something to complete my spinning rod setups and want to move away from my baitcasting setup since I'm far more comfortable with spinning gear.
  16. I'm a little nervous about trying a 500 or 1000 sized reel. A 2000 sized reel sometimes feel cumbersome for my big hands. Maybe I'm just not quite to using it since I just started fishing UL this year.
  17. I kind of also just want to try something new as well!
  18. Since Okuma has decided to replace the top half of my two piece Celilo, I need another reel. I have about a $60 budget. I'm currently enjoying my Revros LT2000 but those seem hard to find right now. I'm looking for suggestions. I'm also curious to to know what you all think of reels from KastKing, Piscifun, Cadence, Runcl, Sougayilang, Plussino?? Thanks and have a good one! Peter
  19. A while ago I had posted that I had lost the top half of my Okuma Celilo UL 6' rod. I had initially contacted Okuma to find out about replacing the top half. They wanted 25 shipped to my door for the replacement top half. I thought, geesh, for another 10 bucks I can get a whole new rod. So, I declined the replacement. After thinking on it, I changed my mind. It's a great little rod for throwing ultralight cranks. I decided to email them back asking if I could still get the replacement. Their response was, if you can provide proof of purchase, and the rod is under warranty, we will happy to replace the top half of the rod. Even though it was my fault that I lost the top half and they are willing to replace it, speaks volumes to me about them as a company and their customer service. Has anyone else had great customer service like this? Thanks and have a good one! Pete
  20. Are you saying longevity wise or the the hi-vis "color" doesn't last long?
  21. Looking at switching gears with my fishing gear. I'm really enjoying fishing with UL gear and what to get some some other light gear. I'm thinking of doing hi-vis mono to flouro leaders. What do you like for hi-vis 2, 4, and 6lb mono? Also, what colors do you like? I have Yo-Zuri Superbraid in a nice bright yellow, but that even seems difficult to see at times. Thanks and have a good one! Pete
  22. I've started fishing with some UL gear and love the Mule Fishing Donkey Tail Jr's and the jig heads. I'm curious to know if there are molds for tungsten? Or is tungsten just too expensive to make things like that? Are there molds that allow you to make heavier jig heads, but maintain panfish size hooks? I'm thinking of something that would be be more than 1/32 but not heavier than 1/16. It seems that the the heavier the lure the bigger the hook. I suppose for some lures that would kill the action. Maybe someone here would be able to get in touch with me about a possible order. Thanks and have a good one! Pete
  23. Very true. Max depth of 11' feet I believe. Lots of floating crap on top. No pads. Bottom is very grassy. Hard to throw a square bill. No structure really, at least the public access spots. There are a few cribs, but not sure that helps. Lots of northern in the lake.
  24. I live in a small town that just happens to have a small lake. The lake is hit or miss when it comes to fishing. I often fish this lake because it's literally 5 minutes from my house. Got skunked again this evening. I'm trying a couple different techniques but don't really have a confidence lure or technique that is my go to. It's hard to keep motivated and go fishing when the fishing is like this at the local lake. I don't need to catch monsters to have a good time, but catching something is still fun, even if the bass are just a couple pounds. What I'm wondering, is it even worth it to keep fishing this lake? Do I just not fish if I can't get 4-6 hours to do so? Should I just find more new bodies of water to fish, even though they might yield the same results? Should I focus more on finding a confidence lure or technique? I should have mentioned earlier in the post that I am a bank fisherman. No access to any kind of boat, canoe, or kayak. Thanks and have a good one! Tight lines this weekend Pete
