  1. I'm getting ready to do a few. I'll give it a try. Thanks!
  2. What is the best way to get consistant looking eyes? All my eyes look different. Thanks!
  3. I had a man ask for some large swimbait to be repainted. I thought I would post it here and see if anyone was interested in the work. If so pm me and I will give you his email address and let him know you will be contacting him. I hope this is O.K. doing this on the Forum and if not please delete it. Thanks!
  4. It is www.swimbaitsinc.com as the web site. Thay have a video on utube with the swimbaits. Not bad looking but web site does not come up. Oh well. Thanks everyone!

Has anyone been able to link to SwimbaitsIncorporated.com yet? All I get is a timed out clock/counter. Also has anyone had their hands on one of their swimbaits?
  6. Give Simmons Sporting Goods a chance. I live 45 minutes from it and go often. This is a family business (the one in Alabama) and they are a honest and nice group of people. The store is packed full of items. If you don't see it email them and odds are they have it. You can do business around Ebay with them if you call the store.
  7. Buy the good stuff. You get what you pay for! Cheap paint is never the same, spits, sputters and is a headache. Just my 2 cents but only mine.
  8. Guntersville when the grass gets thick!! Hummmm could be interesting.
  9. The Fat Rap is a old balsa wood crank that looks a lot like the one you are making. I'm not sure it is in production any more but is one of the best factory made cranks I've fished with. I always check out the old lures around the flea markets for the older ones. Repaint and new hooks and their set to go.

Check out the custom painted bait on Ebay. Item #220314884310 It started out for 99 cents and is now at $102.50 with one day left to bid. See if any of you guys know this painter?
  11. Nice baits. How close to size and action are they to the Rapala Fat Raps?

I am using the Flex-Coat now and I think it will be hard to beat, but always looking for something better. Thanks!

Has anyone tried this for their sealer? I have been seeing it on Ebay and it is not suppose to dry in the container after it has been mixed, has a Rockwell hardness of R80. One pound will do about 800 to 1000 crankbaits and cost $32.00 shipped. No measuring after the first mixing.
  14. Those are the best I've seen anywhere!! Us guys down south would be happy to try them out for you and give you feedback on them ;D.
  15. Mine is a Kodax camera, but just looked at it and it has the flower icon also. I will try it on that setting only and see if I can get them better. Thanks!
  16. I'm the wrong person for that. I can't even manage a super closeup of my cranks I paint. I've seen some of the videos the others post on here and they would most likely give some excellent advice.
  17. From the looks of that hand painting I'm not sure you need a airbrush. I have started using a fan brush quite a lot latelyfor blending. You can also find 50% off sales on their (Hobby Lobby) paint quite often also. Make us a video of that four section swim bait in motion.
  18. Most of my paints come from Hobby Lobby and are water based. They range from $.49 to $3.49. It protection is all in the finish coat. You can use D2T expoxy or Flex-Coat. Get the D2T from WalMart for about $2.50 each and will do two coats on about 15 baits depending on size. Make sure you get the 30 minute work time. It is the only water proof. The other is only water resistant. Best advice is RUN while you can. It has a addiction to it. ;D

Good looking cranks. Like the blue/gray color especially. Started making a few cranks from balsa but can't seem to get them finished for painting for everyone else. Used the Flex-Coat the last twenty or so cranks and liked it really well. Lighter and clearer than D2T. From what I can tell so far more pros than the one con (slight smell) I found with it.

That's a good looking shad. I keep returning to look at it.

Good looking cranks! Like the scheme on the top crank. I received my E-Tex but I am trying to use all the other sealer I have first and haven't tried it yet. Is the 10 minutes to let the air bubbles escape?
  22. Be careful, the ones that I google searched for info all had bad feedbacks from buyers. They show a excellent price on the Rapala's.

Thanks again for the info. Will order some today. I kept the paint industry in business trying to learn to paint so I figure with the housing market down I will keep the forest business going for a while! ;D

Thanks for the kind words all.

Hey guys, where is the best place to order some wood. The only place around me that I may find some is Hobby Lobby. Thanks!
