  1. There’s a river behind where I live, very popular for fly fishing (which I’m not trying to get into yet.) It gets stocked with trout every year, and in the spring it’s pretty common to look up and down the river and see people every 25 feet. But I have no idea how to fish in a river, no clue at all. I would love to catch some smallmouth as I’ve only ever caught one (totally by accident, fishing a pond I know has largemouth and I was surprised when I pulled it out of the water.) I feel like there has to be some smallmouth in there, or at least a little down the river where it gets deeper. Any advice would be great, I don’t even know where to start (or links to videos that have good information would be appreciated!)
  2. I sent the SV TW back and they’re sending me a new one. Hopefully it’s better, otherwise I’ll be looking for a Curado. My father just got a killer deal on a 70 mgl and it’s awesome. If the 150 MGL was available now I probably would’ve gone with that.
  3. I really like how the Daiwa fits my hand, the handles it comes with feels good, and it casts a mile. It’s an issue of when I reel it back in it’s not as smooth as I had expected. It’s not horrible but for how much it costs I would expect smoother. I’ll send it back and have them send me another and if it’s the same then I’ll have to figure out what to do after that.
  4. Nevermind, I went to dicks and the cheap Lews combos they had on display felt noticeably smoother than my Daiwa. This is why I don’t like buying “expensive” things online.
  5. Does anyone have a video or something of what smooth vs geary would be like? I just got a Tatula SV TW and it’s the first low profile casting reel I’ve ever had, of course I stumble upon this thread and my anal tendencies have me questioning how it should feel
