Cheap Reels
I think that once you hit that $99 price point you cross over into best band for your buck. It seems like the options at that price point are significantly better than anything priced lower. But I also think that with Lews offering a reel with that many features for $99 other manufacturers need to step up their game, not raise the price (I’m looking at you Daiwa)

Cheap Reels
They retail for $120 now, I think they were competitive at $99 but I’m not so sure they are anymore. Abu does have a bunch of reels under $100 but now there’s a new “max” series, and typically with budget products when they come out with a new version it’s not an improvement. And a Fuego retails for $109 now. Daiwa came out with a couple reels under $100 but are they worth it? Magnetic brakes but not magforce if I recall correctly. Im surprised an SLX is still $99, I thought all the rumors on the internet said Shimano was raising their prices across the board. I bought one for my son for his first baitcaster and I agree it’s very good for the price. The Caius is under $100, but I feel like it’s close enough that you should just step up to the SLX. With reels that used to be $99 now being more expensive, are they still worth it? Theres snow and ice on the water and while my toddler is napping I’m looking for reels and noticed that some of the $99 reels have gone up in price. That made me wonder what “cheap” reels are still worth buying.

Cheap Reels
Are there any bait casting reels under $100 that are actually worth buying? It seems like that $99 price point is when you are getting worthwhile options, but I’m curious if there’s any out there.

Gear ?
thanks! I use palomar for everything with braid and have found it to be very strong. I’ve yet to have a knot let go. But if I was just getting lucky and it wasn’t that good I would branch out.

Gear ?
Do you mean Palomar is a good knot, or a knot better than palomar?

Shimano SLX XT bait casting reel?
That’s a good price, esp considering Shimano is allegedly raising prices across the board tomorrow.

Latest Tackle Purchase Thread (Bait Monkey Victim Support Group)
Right now, like $0 haha both rods were what I have set a side for fishing stuff. I feel like the Tatula rod has to have a Tatula (or at least Daiwa) reel on it so that’s the goal to save up, maybe that new tw 80 will be reasonable

For the price, I just couldn’t say no. Now I gotta scrape together some money for a reel before spring haha

Poor decisions, Tackle Supply Depot going out of business got me to spend money I shouldn’t have. G Loomis E6X 843C MBR and a Tatula 7’3 MH/F. But now I have 3 casting rods, two spinning rods and only one reel ?

Daiwa Tatula TW 80

Curado 70 MGL
I have the 150 and my dad has the 70 and honestly they’re both awesome, you can’t go wrong with either one. I’ve thrown everything from a 1/10th ned rig to a 1/2oz chatterbait (plus trailer) with no issues at all.

Note to Z Man
That’s disappointing. Which chatterbait model? The original?
-
Daiwa Tatula TW 80
Some people predict around $150/$160 which would be fantastic.

Daiwa Tatula TW 80
Does anyone know if it will come to the US?

Best compact flipping/swim jig
I just picked up a couple of these and while I won’t be able to get them wet till spring I would agree that they are quality and they are very compact

I don’t hate a January fishing day like this.
- Best style of trailer for Chatterbaits?
This. I’ve found the action of the chatterbait isn’t the same when the trailer has its own action. Not that it can’t or won’t work, but I’ve had much better success with trailers that have little to no action. I mostly use, and have had the most success with, zman razor shad because the have very little action and they last forever.- Benefits of Ring Worm vs. Stick Worm
Both look rad, I’ll have to grab some before spring- Benefits of Ring Worm vs. Stick Worm
How do you typically rig it?- Latest Tackle Purchase Thread (Bait Monkey Victim Support Group)
Well at least they said sorry ?- Spinning combo under $75
Has anyone used the BPS Formula reel? It’s only $30 right now, but is it decent?- Megabass Price Increase
Ain’t that the truth- Shimano Curado MGL 150
I got mine back in October, it’s awesome. Super smooth. I’ve even used it to throw a 1/10th ned rig with no problems. - Best style of trailer for Chatterbaits?
