  1. I’m far from an expert on this. I use cheap mono for a backing, I’ve found spools on clearance at Walmart for $3. But IMHO as an electrician, I wouldn’t want to use electrical tape. Countless times I’ve seen electrical tape turn into a nasty gooey mess, especially when exposed to the elements, and more often than not it leaves behind a sticky black residue.
  2. Same here, I just never had chatterbaits stop being effective, but it got icy. This year I decided I’m going to learn to fish a jig and a ned rig. I’ll still fish chatterbaits as well (because I love it) but since I’m newer to fishing I want to try to fish only a few baits and focus more on being better at finding the fish.
  3. I got mine in October of last year, and before all the water froze it was fantastic. Very smooth and casts light lures without issues. I used it to throw a ned rig when I left my spinning rod home, and it worked fantastic considering I was using a MH rod. My son has an SLX and, while it’s very smooth, it’s definitely not the same.
  4. Can I just ask why? I’m genuinely curious
  5. There’s two Walmarts near me, both about 15 minutes away. They both have OT hard baits and soft plastics. Wally suffers from supply chain issues like everyone else, it could just be that they sold out and haven’t gotten any more in yet.
  6. You think it’s worth the $199?
  7. My local Ollie’s has a bunch of Havoc, I don’t know where they got it from.
  8. I’ve never fished a jig, that’s what I’m planning to learn this year. I have NO idea what I’m doing so hopefully it works out haha I picked up a couple Beast Coast 3/8 Gorilla swim jigs and a couple Beast Coast 3/8 Lil Magnum jigs. Maybe I’ll grab a couple pitchin/Arkie style jigs too. For trailers I got some Missile Baits Baby D Bombs and Berkley chigger craws, as well as some Gambler EZ Vibez.
  9. Like their baits… kinky beaver, man bear pig, skinny dipper, etc
  10. They are 15% off now with a code on their website, or get a free reel. Did they go up a lot in price? I feel like I remember looking at them a year ago and they were a lot cheaper. I want a KLX but $300 seems like a lot.
  11. I would prefer if the colors match, but it’s not going to be a big deal if they don’t. What bothers me more is putting a Daiwa reel on a Shimano rod or vice versa haha
  12. Never thrown a jig before and I too am determined to figure it out this year! Good luck ??
  13. Mine no longer sells firearms or hunting stuff. I try to avoid it as much as possible after that, but if I need fishing stuff it’s either that or Walmart. Their selection is horrible. But I ran in there the other day to grab one thing and noticed they had the crossover rings and pliers. And with how little durability the Yamamoto senkos have (and how expensive they are comparatively) I would try these if the rings could make them last a little longer.
  14. They have them at my local DSG.
  15. The TactX coming with braid and some flouro leader is a good idea
  16. Thats wild haha there’s parts of my state like that, just not where I live. I do agree that multi piece rods are much easier to transport when you drive a car, especially a sedan.
  17. I leave my rods exposed in my car all the time so I guess I’m an idiot ??‍♂️ Never been a problem though. A lot depends on where you live and where you shop. Around here car break ins are rare, usually kids from the city looking for unlocked cars in the middle of the night. But it also helps leaving stickers off the car. Advertising your hobbies like that just lets thieves know that you probably have expensive gear in your car.
  18. I don’t care how it looks it just feels wrong Most probably just assume he’s rich lol
  19. I have no helpful information, just wanted to throw out there that I saw Abu is having a sale on this combo https://www.abugarcia.com/products/vengeance-baitcast-combo-1557728?variant=39978163634315 use code Vengeancebmc1 and the price drops to $65. Maybe not a bad option for your use
  20. I don’t know about that, there’s an awful lot of Ford Taurus out there
  21. I prefer to buy everything in person. But that’s a luxury I don’t have. There’s no tackle stores except for one that is exclusively fly fishing. Even the big box stores around here have horrible selection. The rise of internet shopping has made it difficult to find most things in stores
  22. The problem is, as soon as I see *** my brain just wants to know what it is I’m not allowed to see. z man just lasts forever. Ive fished a ned rig once, but I use the razor shad for chatterbait trailers and I’ve yet to have one tear or break and they’re my most effective trailer
  23. I messaged The Tackle Trap on Instagram, they told me no free floating spool in any Tatula.
