  1. Labor Day is right around the corner, there will be sales if you can wait. If not, there’s 15% off codes for Omnia floating around out there, they ship super fast. If you have a Dicks or Academy near you, you could go look and see if they have any SLX rods. I’ve heard both places had them for like 50% (or more) off because they just announced a new generation.
  2. Thank you! Do you know of a good tackle shop in the area? And any good ponds or lakes or anywhere I could tell him to go fish (from the bank)? thanks! I think he would like saltwater fishing too, he just doesn’t have anything for it.
  3. Where did you see the 150 for $138?
  4. Long shot, I know. Does anyone know of any fishing clubs or anything in Melbourne? My 14 year old son just moved there with his mom (long story). I just want him away from the video games. He likes fishing, but he says he doesn’t know where he can go. I thought if there was some kind of youth program or club that would also be a good way for him to make friends (and get away from the video games)
  5. Digitaka Japan Lure Shop Asian Fishing Portal I know there’s more Im forgetting if I had money I’d pick up a JDM Zillion HD for sure right now. The price is great and it’s super slick
  6. Lews LFS Daiwa Fuego Shimano SLX All good options. Labor Day sales are just around the corner too
  7. Crazy that PayPal has their own exchange rate, shouldn’t that be something that’s standard? Either way, that zillion hd looks beautiful
  8. I’ve seen posted elsewhere that Dicks has SLX rods in store for $35, cannot confirm as my local dicks never had anything good
  9. Did you try to contact PayPal about this? It’s not a crazy difference but I’d still be upset
  10. Tackle warehouse is good, they just aren’t the fastest for shipping. Omnia Fishing is good too, less inventory but they ship fast. The Abu Garcia Revo X is on clearance, for that price it’s a good option too https://www.omniafishing.com/p/abu-garcia-revo-x
  11. Thank you, I appreciate the information. I did end up ordering a Rainshadow Thank you, I have a rod built on a blank from mudhole. Great rod. Full disclosure. My dad makes the rods, he’s been doing it longer than I’ve been alive (I’m 32). He just asked me if I want him to build me another rod, can’t say no. One of these days I’ll have enough time for him to teach me
  12. Baitcaster. Budget, I don’t know, that sweet spot that people call “best bang for your buck”
  13. Can someone recommend a good Medium Heavy Moderate or Moderate Fast blank? I’d prefer graphite, I think. I want to make a good chatterbait rod.
  14. Im not the guy to trade with, this is everything I’ve got haha
  15. Ive said it before, I’ll say it again. Everyone who disagrees, just send me your favorite reel and I’ll tell you which one is best ?
  16. The mindset that was a product of the Great Depression, “you never know if you’ll need it someday” not the worst idea IMHO I guess people would rather just keep their stuff. I’m a little surprised, if I had tackle I knew I was never going to use and I could trade it for something useable, I’d be all over it.
  17. If I’m spending $50 I feel like I’m not getting a deal anymore, and then I’m paying more in sales tax. I feel like so many people on here (not me, I have no money) have so much stuff they know they’ll never use, we should have some kind of swap, or just a thread for swapping “unwanted” tackle
  18. Shipping kills it for me. If I pick up anything on clearance, then tax and shipping adds $10, it’s not longer a good deal in my mind.
  19. If I was going to spend $200 on a reel right now I’d be looking at JDM, the exchange rate is fantastic. Bump up to $240ish and grab a Zillion, or an Alphas for $180ish. A Scorpion MGL is $160ish. All the gen 4 Revos are on clearance right now too. The Okuma Hakai is supposed to be great. There’s plenty of good options in the price range, it’s hard to go wrong.
  20. Thank you, I’ve been trying to figure out how to fish a jig all summer. The concept of “feeling the weight” makes sense, and this is the first time I’ve heard that.
  21. They don’t call em Dicks for nothing You said 90 on TW, the new Tatula XTs are 99, is that extra $10 too much?
