My mea culpa regarding fluorocarbon line
I got it from Amazon. Don't get me wrong, I still don't see the point of fluoro, but that wasn't what I said. I said that fluoro had too much memory and was too stiff. The xl fluorocarbon IS more stiff than nylon, but not so much so that it's unmanageable, and I'm leaving it on the spinning combo I put it on to try it out. No reason to cut it off. The tatsu was ridiculous.

Looking for a good "all around" reel. Curado K? MGL?
I love my Abu Garcias, but to be honest, just about any reel from a major brand will serve your needs well from a functionality standpoint. Just decide which features are most important to you, find reels that have those features, and go look at em in person so you can see how they feel in your hands.

Fish Attractants
I use: pro-cure trophy bass, bang pure craw and shiner formulas, but my favorite is nightcrawler liquid mayhem. Pro-cure I put in my elaztec baits. The bang sprays get put on my other soft plastics just to keep em lubricated. Craw on the bottom contact baits, shad on the ones that swim. Liquid mayhem I put on everything while I'm fishing. A study was done that showed nightcrawler extract to be the most attractive to Bass (got the most bites by far) so that's why I use it.

What baitfish is this?
Looks like a creek chub

My mea culpa regarding fluorocarbon line
I found one that is pretty comparable to mono in how it handles. One problem: it isn't made anymore. I had ordered several when I was trying the tatsu, and it came in yesterday. Berkeley Trilene fluorocarbon xl. I got the 8lb. Apparently though, Berkeley quit making it, so there's limited quantities left, BUT... The knot strength using a Palomar knot is comparable to regular xl, and it didn't seem to jump off my spinning reel. It did show a bit of coiling on slack line, but mono does it as well and it was no worse. So...I admit..there IS a fluoro that is comparable to mono in terms of knot strength and memory. Just gotta buy it quick before retailers sell out lol

Best made in the USA
I have one of those...those grips are amazingly comfortable.

Chemically sharpened vs cutting point hooks
Fishing hook points lol!

Best made in the USA
I'll probably have to get a custom build, bc I want a USA rod with those Winn grips like the ones on a few of my Garcia rods. MAN those grips are COMFY.

Chemically sharpened vs cutting point hooks
I too want mine like a razor. I use the fingernail test as well lol You prefer the conical points as well?

Chemically sharpened vs cutting point hooks
Never thought of that to be honest, so thanks for pointing it out. I'm all about being humane to the animals I harvest (even catch and release), so it DOES matter to me. A lot. I'll pay more attention on my next couple catches...if I see big holes in the fish's mouth, I'll definitely go back just for that reason alone. If I'm willing to pass up shots on deer, rabbits, and squirrels because I demand a clean, humane kill with one shot, then I'm certainly not gonna tear big holes in a fish's mouth needlessly. I appreciate the heads up. Sincerely.

What got you "started" on your favorite brands? Nostalgic story time
That's a nice reel...is that a Berkeley rod? My dad had a few of those as well. You're making me want to go spool up one of his and put it on one of those older rods and take it out for some nostalgic fishing...

So I've got some redundancy going on here....
Just take em out and use em imo.

B.A.S.S Vs MLF
Are you just gonna try to ****post on everything I say from now on or what? It's my opinion. You seen to get awfully butthurt when someone doesn't share your opinions exactly. I'd suggest we just go out separate ways.

B.A.S.S Vs MLF
I loved watching Bill dance and Roland Martin fishing shows. Tournaments are like watching paint dry imo.

Why do you fish?
I fish because I was raised hunting and fishing from the time I could hold a rod a .410 shotgun. It's a part of my cultural heritage. Mostly though, it's because it give me time to "recharge". I'm a naturally introverted person who works in a very sociable industry, and I required substantial time by myself to regroup. Plus, I like fish and the outdoors.

B.A.S.S Vs MLF
I want to see a pro bass fishing series that is more like actual fishing. Screw the fish all day and pick the five biggest fish thing. Make it the first seven catches within 3 hours and I'd watch. No picking and choosing the biggest...just like every day normal fishermen.

Likewise ..powerbait pit boss accounts for 75% of my bass catches alone

Just don't say "Bontrager" lol

What got you "started" on your favorite brands? Nostalgic story time
As someone who was REALLY into mountain biking, I agree 100%. Shimano components were the pinnacle. I bought a new bike for my Denali trek, and chose it mostly bc it used the ultra high-end Shimano components of the time. Mountain biking thru Denali alone is a hell of an excursion, and I wouldn't have trusted my life with any other brand.

Am I nuts buying Tatsu ?
Just my being intellectually honest. Using the line and reporting my results. No more..no less.

My dad prized his Garcias, but USED more Shakespeare reels than anything else. I have my dad's Browning boron pistol grip rod. Haven't ever used it lol

Am I nuts buying Tatsu ?
I started out cordial until I was verbally attacked for stating my opinion. I will not apologize for standing up for my opinion or for myself. I backed down and went bought the stuff and will give it an honest shake like I do everything else. For the record though, the assassin is in 8lb on a maxpro 20 spinning reel. It's wirey, but manageable. At least it's not astronomically expensive like the tatsu, but I've yet to see the benefit over a good clear mono. I'm gonna use it for a few weeks on some finicky bass and see what happens. Where?

Am I nuts buying Tatsu ?
Allow me to rephrase:. It's not as manageable as mono, and has much more memory than premium mono lines Yeah...it was $49.99 for 200yds of 12lb. For $50, I'd expect it to be the best mono line on the planet, plus give me a back rub when I was done catching fish.

Am I nuts buying Tatsu ?
I'm going to try it out for the next few weeks to see if my opinion changes, and if it does I will certainly come back and say so. I too use straight braid on pretty much everything. I can solve this for you right now, it's not better than braid LOL!

Am I nuts buying Tatsu ?
The assassin FC is better imo. It still kinda jumped off the spool a bit, but seemed to "settle down" after a few casts.
