  1. 7'6 flipping stick. You fish heavy timber and stuff, and you don't know what you're missing out on until you start flipping the heaviest stuff out there.
  2. Harder to manage? It's the softest braid on the market... I've been using the stuff for over a year now, never had a single break, and I've purchased many spools. Yes, it's easily worth the money. Check Ebay you can actually get it for about $10-$15 less then retail.
  3. Many walmarts still have some Madman baits, they are no loner in business, but can still be found here and there.
  4. Some guys like the 766 for punching, but I really prefer the 805 over the 766. I like the added length, the 805 is a beast!
  5. Shoot me a PM a day or two in advance when you head up to the Delta. I have a few tournaments coming up and will be out there several days for the next 3 weeks. The 805 is certainly my choice for the Delta, and I use the 795 for lakes and some lighter stuff. But the 805 is the sure bet. I personally have a Curado E7 on mine now, but have had the drag slip a bit with some fish. I had Revo STXs on all of my reels for almost 2 years and love them. I got a deal on Curado E7s that let me get brand new reels for the price of my old STXs, so I did it, but I still think the STX is a step up. The drag alone is a winner in my books.
  6. I have both. It really comes down to how thick of cover you're punching. I know a few guys that do punch with the 795 without problems, but there are also a few situations I would only use the 805. The sensitivity is certainly better with the 795. I use 80lb braid on my 805 and 25lb fluoro on my 795 (I mostly flip heavy cover with the 795 but I don't physically punch the nastiest stuff with it). If you're ever in Walnut Creek, you're glad to check them both out with reels mounted. Just shoot me a PM.
  7. I've never used a Helium rod unfortunately, so I can't comment on that. No problem SJB, enjoy the rod and post reviews up once you get it out on the water. They're great rods!
  8. I've been in my fair share of boats, only two companies I will ever consider are Champions and BassCats. I own a Champion, and my tournament partner owns a BassCat. Both very, very good boats.
  9. The 4 Power Dobyns rods are by no means a broom stick. Although it will be a bit stiffer then the 784 that you have. I have a Dobyns 743 and 744 Extreme and love them both. The 743 I use for lighter baits like senkos and such, and the 744 I use for Texas rig baits and jigs up to 3/4oz. I'd say go with the 4 power rod. I've had a Loomis MBR844C GLX rod, and it was pretty close to the 744 that I have now in stiffness (Although it has been over 2 years since I've touched a loomis). If you PM me where you're located, I might be able to find someone closer to you that has the rods you are interested in so you can try them out. Just let me know.
  10. Sharp, but have not been perfected yet. I've had major issues with the tips of the hook bending up after only 1-2 fish. Until I hear about no issues, I won't waste anymore money. They are sharp as hell, and a great idea, but with the tips rolling up, not worth it.
  11. Dirty Jigs Tackle has some great hooks on their jigs!
  12. Very tough. Probably a Dobyns 795 Extreme Rod / Revo STX 7.1 / 65lb braid and then either 15,20,25lb leader depending on the situation.
  13. Have not used it, but from what I've heard... It's amazing. No need for buyers remorse, just don't get a giant backlash on your first cast and ruin he spool.
  14. Curious to know what sizes and brands you've used? Some much better then others.
  15. I don't like it because.. The line feels much more visible, it has higher stretch, and I don't feel as though I have the same sensitivity I get with fluorocarbons. I just think fluorocarbon is a better option and can help get a few extra bites out of finicky fish.
  16. I can't stand YoZuri. My last post that I made the longer onen was removed by a mod, and for no other reason then what I can believe is because I said I didn't like YoZuri. I sure didn't say anything bad in the post. Oh well. I use P-Line, I completely agree that's it's a better line.
  17. I guess the bigger joke is the fact that a mod removed my most recent post. Considering it was there to smooth things over and better explain myself, and to apologize if I hurt anyone... Not sure why that was deleted and not my first post, would have been much more fitting. I guess anytime YoZuri gets bashed it's grounds for banning.
  18. They just unveiled a new fluorocarbon at ICAST, supposed to handle for better. Who knows though! For the price I've heard it's a good line, but there are certainly better on the market if you're willing to spend more money. As everyone said, shouldn't put over 8lb on a spinning reel.
  19. As everyone said, the top part of the bait is to catch the fisherman. One thing that truly does help in fishing is confidence, and great looking baits give us fisherman confidence. So... Yes the color on top does matter, if you think it looks good!
  20. Try DichosoBaits . He can make it with several different types of plastic, one of which totally floats.. You can also pick from a ton of colors (or request a custom color), plus you can add your selection of flake to it.
  21. What about a 705c? BTW, I settled on the 735c I asked you about earlier. 705 will be pretty close to the rod you have... Sounds like you want something for a little lighter plastics and such.. I'm a firm believer in longer rods as well, and you already have 1 7'3 rod! They help.
  22. Dobyns Savvy 733 or 734!
  23. If you're fishing from shore, go with a longer rod, you'll get better casting distance and move more line on the hookset. A nice 7'3 or 7'6 rod would do the trick great. Dobyns 734 or 764 would both be a great pick. Or any other 7'3 - 7'6 rod of your choice.
  24. This is an absolute joke. How do guys seriously feel good about giving such bad advice? I see some crazy things posted on here, but c'mon guys. I can't tell if this is a joke, or if you guys are serious. Frogs with mono? Can you? yes. Should you? Absolutely not. Why give the fish any chance at all? You always hear about guys talking about "the one that got away", but it's because guys are giving the fish a chance! Just because you catch one, or a handful on mono, doesn't mean it's the best way to fish a frog, and I'm sure you've missed way more then you would have with braid. There's no reason not to use braid with frogs... Get a solid hookset, use braid.
  25. 13lbs 3oz - California Delta - Hand tied jig That's a solid punch fish for sure, I pulled a 9-4 out of the Delta last year punching, what a thrill!
