  1. Having similar problems. I purchased 12 now Curado E7s , sent 4 back, and have another 2 doing the same problem now as well. The 4 that came back were fixed, but now with 2 more doing it, man it's a lot! Wish my problem was as easy as tightening the casting control!
  2. Dobyns 733 or 734 depending on the type of cover you're fishing. If you need a little extra power, go with the 734, if you're spinnerbaiting in open water go with the 733. Both work great!
  3. Dobyns Extreme rod, 702 or 742 depending on what rod length you prefer. Would look great, and perform even better!
  4. Shockingly, I have found that most bigger companies are just like this. SPRO I have personally dealt with this month and has had great customer service as well. Letting them know about a potential flaw can help them out as well, but don't take advantage of their kindness.
  5. Dobyns Savvy Series over at Tackle Warehouse for sure. Best rod I've felt in that price range. The 702 is a great drop shot rod, also works well for shaky heads. You'd be under the price mark, with free shipping and no tax assuming you live outside of CA.
  6. High Speed 7.1:1 is great for all lures and setups. I 12 Curado E7s and 0 E5s. There's not a single bait that I prefer to throw on a slow retrieve reel aside from large swimbaits that require a larger sized reel. Importance? They pick up more line on the retrieve, if a fish has the bait in their mouth, you can reel the slack quicker to set the hook. You can get the bait back to the boat quicker when you're out of the strike zone. You can always slow down your retrieve, but speeding up can only do so much. For walk the dog baits I find it much easier to walk the bait with just the reel and less rod action. If a fish is running at the boat, you can reel in quicker to avoid giving the fish any slack. .....yes I have thrown DD22s and other deep diving crankbaits with a high speed as well...
  7. Dichoso Baits Stickbait, and just recently, the Tickle Stick :
  8. Launch out of Sugar Barge (Down the street from Russos). It's less crowded, and less stressful (if you're nervous and new to that stuff it's a big help going to Sugar Barge). As people said, there are a lot of little fish biting. Reaction baits, drop shotting, senkos, flipping, you'll catch fish. There's also stripers biting now too. It's a tough place though, we had 24lbs for 5 a week and half ago, and last trip out had only a few in the 2-3lb range. Tides play a big part of the fish feeding and getting the bigger girls to play.
  9. I put one in my 18ft Champion, makes no difference. Incredibly beneficial to have.
  10. I have yet to fish a Micro Magic rod, but have fished Dobyns Rods in all 3 of the lineups and absolutely love them.
  11. Expensive and better gear gives an added thrill to fishing, not to mention it gives you a boost in confidence. Confidence is very important in fishing. There may be no BEST, it's all about the users preference, but I personally am glad to see the disputes over what's better as it helps people make decisions.
  12. I use a Dobyns 765 Flipping Stick for a lot of my Senkos, T-Rig plastics, as well as buzzbaits, spinnerbaits, etc... Great all around rod. I also use a 7'8 4 power rod for C-Rig, T-Rig, jigs, Hula Grubs, and many other plastics. Longer rods are great and certainly help.
  13. I'd take an STX over a Curado, and the Curados are above Citicas. Hope that helps.
  14. The sideplates are injection molded from a polymer material mixed with graphite fibers. The molds that these sideplates are made in have multiple "cavities". Each cavity produces one side plate, and molds will have multiple cavities in them so they produce many sideplates each time the mold cycles. Each cavity is somewhat unique, and slightly different than the other ones. What you are seeing are the tooling marks made from the end mill that machined that particular cavity. That surface that has the toolmarks is non-functional so surface finish isn't as important as the outside of the reel, where a very smooth and polished finish is required. Please don't take this the wrong way, as I may be mistaken, and I may have also mislead you by what I said. It seems as though maybe you're talking about the two little gold circles? And the third one to the top right of that in the photo. These aren't what I'm talking about (if this is what you're speaking of). If you look above that top gold circle, you can see tons of what look in the photo to be scratched out half circles. It's tons of scratches. If you understood that and are still saying that's what they're from, please excuse me.
  15. Those marks are from the manufacturing process. They were not made by your spool. Personally I would flush out the spool bearings and re-lubricate them with a light reel oil (like the Shimano supplies with the Curado's) I just received one today from TW in the mail. Has absolutely no markings at all. Not to mention, if it was from the manufacturing process, why do some have severe amounts of those markings and others barely any?
  16. They're a month maybe two old. Still very new. All 3 had nothing inside when opened up at all, and I was very careful to pay attention. Now I'm worried all of them are going to start to do this. 3 so far, grrrr! My Stradic 3000 is making a strange noise too and it's only a month old.
  17. I purchased 11 new Curado E7s not too long ago. Most have had 5-10 trips of use and some not even 5. I just noticed a problem with 1 yesterday, then a different one today, and now upon looking a 3rd one looks as it is coming down with the same issue. Upon casting the reel, it's making a grinding scratching noise. They're all lubed up and nothing appears to be wrong. The only thing I notice is these little circular grooves (photo below) In the photo you can see circular grooves. It seems as though the spool grinding against them is causing this noise. Or at least that's my guess. Any idea what might be causing this? The 3 reels look to be in different stages of this issue, as one has a ton of them, 1 has a handful and then one has only a few .

    Awesome looking baits! ;D
  19. I think you'd be much better off purchasing a Shimano Citica E or Revo S for $90ish on Ebay new. Then spending a tad more on the rod if you're able to. There's quite a big leap in a $100 vs $150 rod, and well worth the extra money. Plus, better warranties. I'd highly suggest taking a look at a Dobyns Rods 704 or 734 Savvy Series rod. There are also a handful of other options in that $150 range.
  20. Double willow all day!
  21. 10 Curado E7 1 Curado 300 2 Stradic 3000
  22. Dobyns 702 or 703 depending on how heavy of baits you want to throw and go up to.
  23. I don't see one Titled Bream, but TW has 2 custom colors the Sun Fish and Bluegill.
  24. I can honestly say I haven't had this issue with the numerous rods I have. Give it a real good tighten next time out and see if it does it again now that you're paying attention. If it persists, give them a call and they'll help get it sorted out. Great customer service.
