  1. I just drag of belly side it off the ramp to the grass on the side and get the heck out of the way. That's what the replaceable wear blocks are for in the back. The cart it for transporting it to the ramp from the vehicle. My kayaks get beat up doing this no doubt but I'm not being in the way and my kayaks last about 5 years before they get a hole on them. $1,000 yak every 5 years isn't so bad. Patch the hole and move it to the spare kayak then give away the old spare kayak it replaced.
  2. Because they are the same reel and amongst different reels they use a standard handle shaft dimension and threading. I can put a modern shimano handle on my scorpion 1000xt. Or a modern Daiwa handle on my 2003 daiwa reels.
  3. Those are an alloy of aluminum and magnesium.
  4. Looks like the same brake as the tournament mega cast MP LFS super speed lite pro that is highly regarded with its free casting braking profile. This is good brake for centrifugal fans.
  5. To me it is. The 70 is an alphas platform without the double supported pinion. I'll take the hyper gears, aluminum side plate and small form for a slight increase in price.
  6. Clever. The 20 tatula sv matches the reel seat and the tatula elites match the blank. I think diawa is trying to lure owners of those reels to these rods.
  7. Yes, there bass have been introduced throughout south east asia. You average person buying a reel or rod from AE is likely targeting some other species. What we call a 'bass fishing reel" is just a "fishing reel".
  8. There is fishing in all of asia that uses tackle similar to bass tackle. Snake head species and predatory catfish are common sport fish. AE is a trip. I've been down the rabbit hole and seen some things.
  9. Chinease market fuego using a 17 tatula sv spool in red. It has the "hard to turn spool knob" as well so you can adjust it zero times. There are daiwas for various markets that have little differences like this. There is also the salamandura line of tatulas for the chinease market as well as prorex reels from diawa scandinavia. Australia got this olive drab fuego ct. There is also a distance tuned braid special tatula 100 with a power handle on it called the HRF pe special. With any of these reels you are buying from a different market and won't have warranty with daiwa USA but they aren't so unique that the parts aren't different from a standard reel that they can't be maintained yourself with US spourced parts.
  10. Whatever the regular is with a chunk pinched off the head of the bait to shorten it.
  11. Also the $100 fuego ct sv exists.
  12. Also how do you create an amazon japan account when you shipping address needs to be japanese? I can't log onto my us account when checking out.
  13. I think the zillion hd has a stronger braking profile for heavier baits.
  14. Yeah. You can fish it like a mini hud. I've thrown when I am dragging a jig for an ice out bite and just crawl the bait on the bottom. I prefer a jig for this because why waste my dark sleepers and it's one of the few times my waterways have a clean bottom and I get to throw a jig. The dark sleeper has caught fish though. I bring them but usually just go with the jig.
  15. It's an awesome junk fishing rod with a much more moderate xf action than the 1st gen. They are tip heavy so I don't like any of the levantes for dedicated tip up work but they get the job done. Its a heavy powered rod for pitching jigs and plastics, throwing a fog, 1/2 oz head bladed jig, big ploppers, 6" mag drafts and similar baits. It's a versatile do all rod for the heaver end of the spectrum or the beginning of the heaver end of the spectrum when you put down the all around MH rod.
  16. It's worth it if you skip baits and have manageability issues with flourocarbon lines. The t wing and sv brake work well to tame flouro.
  17. I came across an interesting discovery with my fogy bladed jigs last year. When I put a caffeine shad on as a trailer the bait periodically stop wobbling for a second and veer off center then return to center wobbling. The baits with this trailer suddenly started displaying classic hunting action that is normally associated with hunting crankbaits. They also lost the paint on the head in same same two spots on the baits with the caffeine shad trailers. The baits with other trailers did not lose their paint or hunt. Somehow the two were related. After playing with the bait my hypothesis is that because the bait uses a split ring to attach the blade to the jighead this will allow the blade to over rotate and flip inverted. This locks it to one side or the othe of the football head and creates an angled upwards bill for the bait to plane off left or right depending on which side the blade locked up. How the caffeine shad trailer causes this I'm not sure. I'm afraid to mess with lengths because it is somehow making this happen. For reference I have however much that is of a caffeine shad on the hunting fogys. How do I keep doing this? Sorry mods please move to the correct section.
  18. They do not. There are blades on the top wire pulling on that wire and lifting the head of the bait. This is how the bait appears in the water. It is even more extreme if there are high resistance blades in use such as Colorado or Indiana blades.
  19. No wonder I couldn't find this post. It's in the wrong forum.
  20. Elasticity is one of the best attributes of mono. Its stretchy and that's a good thing. It will keep the Jr's trebbles planted and absorb the fight from a big angry female without nuking the knot like flouro. Just go out in spring to where the bass spawn and throw the gantarel with a slow roll and pause retrieve. It's usually that 1st movement after the pause that the fish crush it. That dusk/dawn periods seems to be when the big females are most active. All my big fish come as the sun has just set.
  21. They are the same platform with some small differences. Definitely the better saltwater reel of the two. If it was a daiwa they would call it a coastal.
  22. My 16 lb sniper is not super manageable. Worse that 20 lb big game honestly. I do love the stuff though. I only use 16 lbs and up for pitching on jig rods or big baits. For casting I use 14 lbs on MH rods. Above 14 is where the manageability of sniper becomes annoying for me. I don't and won't use line goop because that's the one thing more annoying than a stiff line. Smearing that crap everywhere and having to always have a tube of it around to go fishing.
  23. 6 or a 7 gear fished slow on 20 lbs big game. I would go flouro but I also throw plopper 130s and other big topwaters on the same rod. The gantarel is slow rolled and paused when cast to the shore for big bass cruising the shallows in a pre spawn cycle and cast on points and worked more erratically in a flashy color with long pauses like a giant jerkbait also in early pre spawn.
  24. Its that time of year for many of us and a reminder that if you haven't thrown a flat side crank before the bomber flat-a is $4 and has recently been updated with new more modern colors, modern hooks and a weight transfer system as a gen 2 bait. You can see the weight transfer system in the bottom pic. These baits are more buoyant than others like the frittside which means they do better in rip rap but will need a suspend strip added for a slower rise rate. Bass pro also stocks these baits and will have them in bins in store.
  25. From a freshwater perspective aren't these silver curado 200ks? I like the silver vs the black and green personally so this is a good thing.
