  1. Any recommendations on specific rods? Having trouble finding a rod that fits those criteria in a 6'6'' length. I do have an older Shimano Convergence rod either M/F or MH/F that i don't use anymore that I have considered giving him along with the new reel.
  2. Looking to get my son into a baitcasting rig for his birthday. He'll be 9 this year, and im planning on setting him up with a Fuego baitcaster, but a little stumped on what rod to get him. Somewhere in the neighborhood of $100 would be good, maybe 130 max. Lots of options out there, however alot of the casting rods are 7' plus in my preferred brands. Is a 7' rod going to be too much for a 9yr old to handle? While i get the benefits of a longer rod, i'm wondering if a shorter 6' or 6'6'' rod would be a little better for him to learn on. Any recommendations?
  3. Stillwaters Resort is awesome at Pomme
  4. I have been, that seems to be the going rate. Anywhere specific to look?
  5. Currently using the 704 for the plastics/jigs. I have fished wacky before, however its not my most used, so the 704 will have to work for that as well, or i'll use a spinning outfit on one of my older rods. this is already getting out of hand, in a matter of 2 weeks i've gone from 1 new setup to 3! I may even give the 734 a shot
  6. Is another 704 a bad choice for moving baits? What difference would I notice between the 703/704 for moving baits? Lets gear it more toward spinnerbaits/buzzbaits/other moving baits and say i'll get a 705CB at a later date to handle cranking duties. Fishing yesterday with an older M/Fast rod (Shimano Convergence), I did not like necessarily like that the rod seemed bent over alot while using spinnerbaits and crankbaits on it.
  7. For now I’d like more of an all around, maybe add another one later on if I get to using it more and more. I’ll probably go with the 703 for my moving baits and continue using the 704 for my plastics. Maybe add a 735CB next year. Still undecided on the reel as of yet. I’m nowhere near anything of a good fisherman, just getting back into it after a 10 year hiatus
  8. Looking to set up a new rod/reel, would like to use for cranking and spinnerbaits, things of that nature. Reel will either be a Tatula CT or Elite, and rod a Dobyns Fury 703 or 705CB. Any input as to the better combo here for intended uses? I don’t get a ton of time to fish, nor have a big budget for several rigs. Idea being less time tying more time fishing. I realize it may not be the most ideal combo for certain things, but would like it to be good all around. I currently have a 704 paired with SV TW 103 that I am using for plastics and such.
  9. Does the line go above or under the small bar behind the T Wing? Seems like it could go either way but not sure which is correct.
  10. Seeing 2 listed on website, the Tatula SVTW103 and the Tatula SV. Is one better than the other or recommended? The part numbers look somewhat similar, assuming one is an update to the other?
  11. Getting back into fishing, looking to upgrade to a couple newer rigs, probably 1 to start with and another here in a couple months. I'd like to start out with getting a new plastics/jig/general purpose rig, then eventually something for crankbaits/spinners/etc. Idea being less time spent tying. Prefer these two to be baitcasters, and i'll have a spinning rig to take care of anything else. Plastics (texas/shaky)/jigs/spinners/crankbaits are my favorites to fish with, and prefer these rigs to reflect that. I'll be trying some new stuff as well. Questions revolve mainly around the reels, I like the Tatula line, but am a little confused on which one(s) I should pick. I like what I read about the SV TW's, but also read good things about pretty much the whole lineup. Can someone break it down as to the differences between and the pro's/cons between the different models. Mainly the CT, SV TW103, and the Elite? Which baits would those respective reels work better with? Am i way overthinking this?
