Was your investment into big Swimbait fishing worth it?
Excellent explanation, thanks. The multiple jointed swimbaits as you describe are the ones I'd like to "master" first.

What exactly is the difference between a glide bait and a hard swimbait? Thanks for the rec on the Triple Fish....googling right now.

What happened to Steez reels
They made the Zillions to nice, the law of diminishing returns kicks in quick unless you looking at the BFS models.

Was your investment into big Swimbait fishing worth it?
Oh I get why they cost so much money in terms of the high end, highly custom lures. I'd be foolish to buy them at this point in my learning curve though. That's why I like Jackall baits so much, they have done lots of R&D on baits, and then mass produce them enough to at least be semi affordable to the average Joe. One day I'll buy baits like this hopefully. Clearly the results speak for themselves in regard to this Clutch Glide.

Dang.....$140 for that bait. All sold out too, every single bait they make is sold out. Big swimbait is big business ?

Post a photo a day!

Heck yeah dude, big swimbait produces big time for you. I'd say that bait paid for itself easy by now. Guess I need to get that one, love the look of it. 50-60mph winds is bordering a Tornado in Alabama LOL. I had a big Spot hammer an Alabama Rig a foot from the boat today that scared the little girl out of me. Fishing these big baits is far more like saltwater fishing than Bass fishing to me thus far. Agree with Katie, beautiful fish, and beautiful scenery! Little fattie eating those Little Debbies down there ?

The Found Lures Thread
Ouch on the top row square bill that looks like it has good fish rash on it. That's the only bait that looks like it caught anything other than the tree or wherever you got them from ? Lot of them look brand new too, as in not being stuck very long. That's a real score. I don't know why but this thread is good for my soul and makes me laugh every time you guys post these lures. Ironically enough I'm a petulant child when losing a bait and will go to extremes to recover them.

Oh I can see that for sure, I couldn't imagine throwing one on a kayak. I hate throwing this setup from the rear of a high gunnel metal jon boat. I smack a lure into the gunnel and it sounds like a bomb went off, not to mention the backlash and damage to lure. Caught my second fish yesterday on the big Shad I posted above. It's super exciting fishing these baits, and I sure hope all the Bass hit the bait like the first two. Absolute bone jarring strikes. One from yesterday hammered, then came back and ate a few reel turns later. Awesome stuff man. I tried the few soft baits I had, and I don't like those at all right now. I'm gonna fish these baits like yours and mine above, mixed in with the Bream hard baits.

Lost my Mitchell 300 Combo
Not sure he'd find it in a river with current.

What happened to Steez reels
Digitaka has had the limited SV TW 1000 in 8.1 for awhile, I just checked and only the left hand version is available, but that might change. They just got more Certates in after selling out of the model I wanted a few days earlier. Are you only wanting USDM? eta: it's got a mag frame nvm

Baitfish bait colors
Just to give you a bit of a counter data point I've learned while researching big swimbait fishing the last couple of weeks.... Big Bass wherever they live will eat a 12" Rainbow Trout swimbait.....yet in the vast majority of these places Rainbows aren't stocked. In my State there is a lake that has a great chance of breaking the state record, and their clients use live Goldfish. The only time those big Bass see a Goldfish is when it has a hook in it. I think color matters because of water clarity as much as it does matching the hatch. I care more about the size of the forage they are eating than the color.

Having now caught my second Bass on a big Swimbait yesterday, I can imagine the disappointment that would be relatively unique to these baits. There is an excitement to fishing them I've already found unique. That and both fish absolutely smoked the bait.

Lost my Mitchell 300 Combo
That sucks brother, I try not to let losing tackle eat me up, but it usual ruins the session sans I boated a big fish. I broke a rod two days that I loved, only had it for a few months. Not really the cost as it was a SLX spinning rod that was $100 at Academy clearanced 50%. So what am I doing as a result.....buying a $300 rod to replace it......WUT lol.

Anyone with experience with both Alpha Angler's Wrench & Daiwa Steez 7' MF Spinning Rods???
Rather than start a new topic, anybody own a Wrench and care to weigh in with their thoughts.....and to that point anybody own both a Wrench and the ROTM 7'2 Finesse rods? Got a Certate 3000 coming and I mainly fish two baits a ton on a single SLX 7 Medium Extra Fast that I broke yesterday....problem is the two baits are quite different. One is a Chatterbait Flashback mini 1/8th oz, the other is a 3/8th oz Scrounger head with a 3-3.5" Swimbait. I hope one of these rods will do both well.

Go Pro Chest or head mount pros and cons for both
I wear a hat fishing, and so only the clip on bill mount works......that's my favorite POV, but I simply can't deal with the weight of that thing at the end of the hat bill for very long at all. I currently am using the chest rig. Works perfectly fine, plenty comfy, but ultimately the POV is far from ideal. The best is to have it mounted on a pole or somewhere in the rear/front of boat that captures everything from a wider FOV, and then you can hold and pose fish to it. Been working on just this specific deal for the last several weeks, I haven't found a way to mount it my body that works to my full liking.

You guys caught so many fish today I'm out of reactions but let me say how much I enjoyed reading ALL of this post, and seeing you create a lifelong memory. What a fish dude, congrats!!!! My PB Smallie below Wheeler was on a threadfin. I'm not sure I'd want to fish for big smallies below those dams any other way. Only thing I hate about livebaiting is the potential to gut hook them, and I'm sure if I did it enough I'd figure out away to mitigate that. Maybe with circle hooks or something. I know I got my PB pretty good, we got the hook out, but it was bleeding when I released her. You said something I tell me myself every morning, "you never know when they are gonna be biting", I say that or....."right now somebody else is catching your lifelong dream fish". TIME ON WATER, best lure ever!

Yeah that's a piggy Spot, love it. Beautiful LGM as well. Two high quality fish. Great looking boat as well, once you figure out the FFS stuff you should post some video.

Most places you can catch 45 quality Bass in a morning cost money around here. Golf courses and little ponds have lots and lots of dinks and few nice fish, but your fish look absolutely unmolested. I bet you are the first and last human most of them see. You're discounting all the hardwork you put in to find fish that haven't been pressured. Maybe others can, but I ain't catching no 45 nice Bass in a day let alone a morning ? HAPPY BIRTHDAY friend!!!!!!! Birthday Dink is best Dink ? Listened to that track and it was solid, sent it to a bigger metal guy and he really enjoyed it. Nice one, when that one fattens up I bet it goes 5-6lbs. Big frame on that girl, she needs some Whoppers and McNuggets ?

Congrats on the piggy! I always underestimate a big Bass's ability to eat a big meal. Tactical Bassin talks about occasionally seeing a floating or dead big LGM with a Bream stuck in it's throat. I guess they don't have the problem with slimmer big Shad meals, but the fat Breams can choke em. I can't say I've ever felt a fish in their belly, that's pretty cool. I have them spit Shad up on me all the time though lol. Couple of nice piggies to be sure, very nice!

I mean if anything your fishing is getting hotter Katie, so many chunky fat beautiful fish! I'll say it again, people would pay money to have mornings like yours. Great report as always as well, you have a wonderful writing style. You face a level of danger I don't so it's easy for me to say DON'T STOP CATCHING 45 BASS A DAY ?

Interesting, that same lake would most likely be private in Alabama. Lots of private neighborhood lakes down south. 2000 acres would be a really big neighborhood lake though. Beautiful fish, but you're making me a liar, I just called you a Spot hunter ?

I'M OVERDOSING ON AWESOME REPORTS ? Katie, you're bad donkey if you know what I mean ? Scott, we'll set something up soon, dedicated Cat fishing until I can get a new boat. Finally broke a rod today in part due to hard it to fish from......underhand casting a CB, and it caught a clearance SLX spinning rod, took 4-5" tip off. Loved the rod, but at least it was cheapest at $50. I talked with the fish biologist on the lake today, ask him what's the biggest he's seen in the lake. Said last shock study got one that close to 40lbs. Dude isn't a BSer at all, but I'm struggling to believe that. He said he's seen 20lb fish caught....that I have no doubt about. Tim, what can I say besides absolutely EPIC, and you are winning at life having a wife unit who loves to share such priceless memories. Congrats on the 5lb fish too......that's the giddy like a kitty size. Woody B, love how you are giving some feedback on the FFS, and awesome Spot as usual. You and Greenpig are Spot hunters for sure. Stay with that Chatterbait, hated reading that part, but it's only a matter of time until you love it. Way North Bass Guy, what an incredibly honey hole you have in your backyard....large private lakes are the stuff that fuels my fishing dreams. Beautiful fish and awesome day. I'd be over the moon if I caught 25 smallies in a day. Love me some fat fish too, what a beautiful belly. Post a pic of your backyard lake if you can. Beautiful last pic especially, love that.... could be a motivational poster or something. I always enjoy seeing the fish you post because it's fun guessing the genetics. You have some really neat Bass. Second Bass is a great example.....to a lesser degree so is the third one. As for the fourth, he's just so cute, but I'm sure you ate him on the spot like an Anchovy ?
