Out of reactions for the day.....dang you internetz. You have night fishing, and then everything else in my book. I'll never stop believing as well that the big fish bite the most after the sun goes down. I love everything about night fishing!!!!

Lower ratio reel
I think for just a little more you could have a Zillion SV TW 1000P that has a 5.5 ratio. $230 right now from Digitaka.

Random useless facts
While correct, the much bigger concern is they can mess up otherwise healthy and beautiful turf grass looking for turf grubs ? I assume you won't eat an Armadillo ? An average angler spends $1,261 on fishing each year. Anglers spend almost $300 million a year just on ice to preserve fishes longer. One million Americans spend an average of 17 days fishing.

Latest Tackle Purchase Thread (Bait Monkey Victim Support Group)
Welp, it's official I just finished ordering the Zillion SV TW 1000 from Digitaka. The tacklemonkey is not a singular thing, it's a collective group of wallet draining vampires known as the Bassresource membership base.......In a million years I would have never found out about taking advantage of buying through JDM. Haven't gotten a new reel in about 15 years.....the first model Steez BFS rod/reel was the last big reel or rod I bought. That along with a Shimano Calais are the two most tech advanced reels I own. Hard to imagine a reel getting better than those. I hope this new reel doesn't make my older reels feel their age. It will be interesting to see how far reels have come in 15 years. I didn't have currency exchange rates on "why I must buy a new reel" bingo card sadly though ? Thanks to everyone who helped earlier in all seriousness, I feel like I scored a fantastic product for an unbeatable price. I have this place to thank for that!

I need to add a new bait or technique to my limited repertoire
Yeah I love the fat ones, but I'm not fishing super clear waters. The bulk presents a bigger profile which I like. Hard to go wrong with anything in their 6 or 7" lineup

I need to add a new bait or technique to my limited repertoire
Yeah I prefer to use an EWG anytime I can, and 3/0 with a 6" Roboworm will be fine. In the future a 2/0 might be better, as I use the 3/0 on 7" Roboworms. I just catch more fish on EWGs, so whether or not I get bite a little less on them doesn't matter. When I say Shakey head or T-Rig, I just mean a weighted, and weedless rigged Roboworm. A shakey head is like you say a jig of sorts....connected weight and hook, but more importantly many are shaped where a handpoured worm like a Roboworm will stand almost straight up and down the water, where just a small twitch allows you to shake that worm in a super life like manner. A 1/8th tungsten bullet weight with a 2/0 or 3/0 EWG and 6" Roboworm is what I would go with if I didn't use some form of a shakey head. A disconnected weighted T-Rig is more prone to hang ups and such, so many "peg" them with a toothpick depending on the area you are fishing them in. To me a weighted T rigged Roboworm is the easiest way to catch Bass across all the vast, and different waters they inhabit.

Fantastic job! Fish those Roboworms on T-Rig or Shakey Head. I tell folks just starting out to do nothing but reel as slowly as they can, occasionally twitching the worm. Slower the better. Let the beautiful action of that handpour worm do it's magic. Congrats, keep up the great work

Your worst fishing habit
Absolutely......I was a diehard Basshead for the first 25 years of my life, but then life got in the way and I took a decade + off, I come back and I was absolutely STUNNED by how much Bass fishing has grown. Tourneys, schools, incredible amounts of new tackle, everything has progressed at a lightyear pace. I didn't even know what JDM was until a few weeks ago. Now I'm about to order a reel direct from Japan because of favorable exchange rates, and a Bass fishing forum educating me on the whole deal. 15 years ago it was pay the prices your local store had or pound sand. I was ordering Roboworms out of a mail order catalog. My how things and time fly.

Poll: Best Chatterbait Rod
Excellent. The reviews and price point looks like this is gonna be the rod for me.

I'm using either Pline Fluoroclear 15lb, or Pline 15lb Ultimate Fluorocarbon

Poll: Best Chatterbait Rod
They seem to be OOS on that model, but my local store carries St Croix so I'll see if they have it. Must be popular as it and only one other rod model are OOS. Appreciate the link! I've been using them on Loomis GLX Mag Bass MH Fast Action 6'6 rods. There just doesn't seem to be enough "forgiveness" in perhaps the tip to compensate what is likely a bad habit from myself. I seem to pull these baits before I have a chance to hook them. That's what led me down the rabbit hole of finding an optimal solution for this bait. It's the only other bait besides a JWR type that I feel deserves an optimal rod/reel.

Poll: Best Chatterbait Rod
Awesome info, better than the dang sales guy lol. It would have been nice if he'd have explained that out like you did. Makes more sense. The part about keeping fish pinned, and being forgiving is why I'm likely going to grab this rod. Been a primary bottom contact fisherman, thusly I'm quick on the trigger, and set hooks quite hard, and all my current rods are geared towards this. I miss a lot of fish on the chatterbait, and I think it's because I'm too fast, or hard on the hookset. I rarely lose them, but getting them pinned seems way more problematic than it should be on an optimal setup.

The countdown!
Right back at ya Katie, nice to have a community of such likeminded folks. Makes a crazy world seem a little less crazy. It's hard for non fisherman to understand why we fish, kind of sucks not being able to share such awesome moments of your life with family and friends.

Poll: Best Chatterbait Rod
Yeah I can't find any negative reviews. Doesn't seem to be a widely produced rod so I guess that's why the info kind of limited. My only concern is weight vs the IMX. I put the Zillion on that IMX yesterday at the local store and the thing felt excellent. I appreciate your feedback and original suggestion. I think for non bottom contact rods, my allegiance to G Loomis is over. If you buy $400-800 rods, you should get a lifetime warranty, not some $130 replacement charge. I'm not worried that much on a sub $300 rod warranty. Lol, I haven't felt the need to upgrade to the Jackhammer series yet as I've only been throwing these for a few months. I eyeball them every time though and that price is hard to stomach when I'm catching lots of fish on the other models. I'm sure I'll find a reason why only $15 CBs work vs $8 ones in due order with a nice new dedicated setup for them ?

The countdown!
Haha, I remember as a little boy having a friend spend the night so we could get up really early to catfish......we were so excited we stayed up until like 2-3am, and woke up at like 9 or 10am. Needless to say we didn't catch any cats that morning. I loathe Urban areas and do everything possible to avoid them. Suburbs aren't much better. You said it perfectly in regards to detoxification. I think this is a big reason why I like to fish by myself as well, moreover why I like to fish at night the best. To be on a lake at night by yourself is truly my happy place. Good luck, be safe, and have a blast! I'll be looking for the hawg pics in the latest catch thread

Thanks friend! I was ecstatic with how healthy and fat she was....no marks or sores either. These are the fish that give me great optimism one of these days I'll get a DD on my home lake. One last funny story from today and a word of caution to anglers and honeyholes...... So I see this guy fishing in terrible conditions last week in a very odd location of the lake, go to the store, come back an hour later.....the guy was still there fishing in the rain in the exact same spot. Flash forward to today, I'm fishing that part of the lake so I decide to really give that area a good screening with the sonar. Lo and behold this dude was fishing on perhaps the most sheer vertical dropoff in the lake, and on a ledge is a huge structure ball with what I can only guess was tons of Crappie holding all around it. Now if I knew a single thing about Crappie, I'd have just scored one heck of a honey hole lol. I've had other anglers approach me in the past because they saw an exposed net, and asked " See ya got the net out, how nice was she". If you hold your honeyholes near and dear, remember there is always a fellow angler trying to scoop you including myself LMAO ?
