  1. I find this interesting. I can't speak for 12lb but I have been using the 10lb for a couple months now with zero issues. I have actually been quite impressed. I use it on my crankin set up which is a 7' ML Excel with a Revo S-L. This is the only set up I use without braid, and I will continue to use CXX until I have a reason not too. Good stuff in my opinion. Cliff
  2. Maybe slow it down a bit more. Try just letting it sit. Like they say, if you think your going slow, slow, go slower!
  3. You will like it for sure. Binghamton huh, I was born there and grew up in Greene. Do you know where that is?
  4. I have used one once, in my brothers yard. It seems like a nice reel but like I said I don't have much experience with it. I bet if you look hard enough you can find a Revo S for the same price. Good Luck Cliff
  5. If it is a lefty I might want to buy it from you?
  6. Yeah but currently I do not have a camera. When I get one I plan to set it up so I can use the timer and take a decent shot. Its not a big deal, I know what I caught and how big they were. That is all that really matters. Thanks Cliff
  7. I prefer no fore grip. I have all split grips but I wouldnt hesitate to buy a full grip/no foregrip rod.
  8. The fish in my Avatar was about 24" long and like I said, no scale so I don't know the weight. Here is a few others that were weighed on the same scale. This fish was 23" long and very skinny. It weighed 5.7lbs on my scale. This fish weighed 4.5lbs on my scale This one 5lbs This is the fish in my avatar next to my size 10 foot. anyway from now on I will do the girth and lenght thing. Thanks for the interest guys. Cliff P.S. The batteries are fairly new
  9. i wish I could! But having to take the picture of myself I have to hold them right next to my face!
  10. My scale might be off. It is Berkley digital scale and it reads 2lbs when I put a 2lb dumbell on it. Oh well. The one in my avatar is my PB, however I didn't even own a scale for that one, I have no clue what it weighed, I tell everyone 9lbs, it makes me feel cooler. I will be sure not to include anymore weights with my posts, so your not bothered. ;D Cliff
  11. I didn't get out much this weekend due to some Cub Scout activities. I only caught one small keeper Friday morning. Saturday morning I managed to catch four bass, two keepers and this one being the biggest. It went 5.6lbs on my scale. I was fishing a big point that seperates the marina area from the main lake. The shoreline is covered in chunk rock and the water drops quickly down to 12-18 feet. I was casting right up to the chunk rock and slow rolling the spinnerbait back to the boat. This one bit after about the third or fourth crank. all fish were caught on a spinnerbait except one on a jig. Three out of the last four weeks I have caught a 5lb plus bass. Probably dosen't sound like much to most of you but that is a good deal for me!

I have been out on Lake Waco in 25mph winds and was not worried about my safety, just makes it nearly impossible to fish.

My boat is a 8' Pelican Bass Raider. Unless it is pretty calm I don't venture too far from the ramps, and if I do it is in a protected area of the lake like a big cove or something. I havew never been too Stillhouse but might be willing to drive down sometime if I knew the wind was gonna stay down that day.

Just another question guys regarding colors. Should I mainly stick to shad, bluegill, and crappie colors? I always hear and see alot about trout colors, however there is no trout in my lake. Do you use trout colors anyway?

As usual, I knew I could count on the BR to hook me up with great info. I am gonna have a few extra bucks soon from recycle material at work which will be spent on swimbaits. Keep the info flowing guys, I know you have more!! Thanks Y'all Cliff
  16. I think i am going to have to get a new longsleeve t-shirt to make it through this winter. ;D Supposed to be a high of 65* today.....burrrr! Cliff

I am a n00b to this technique but would like to give them a shot. I have the gear part covered but have a couple other questions. First, I want to stay under 2 oz baits, I was looking at a couple of the smaller Hudds, any other recommendations in this weight class, less than about $25 per bait? Second, I can not really fish any areas on the main lake due to being in a small boat, are swimbaits very effective in shallow, flooded timber? Also, I am fishing Lake Waco, it isn't exactly Lake Fork, for example, this year I have only landed maybe ten bass that were over 5lbs, I am not saying they aren't there I just don't think they are as common(i might be way off on this, probably just me) as they are in other Texas waters. I have read all the articles here on BR that I could find, can you point me to any other info that might be helpful to a beginner, such as time, location, weather etc etc. Thanks everyone in advance!! Cliff
  21. Mine is a color thing really. I have 2 each of Bandit 200 and 300 all in the same color. They are readily available at Academy so I am not too worried. Plus, since I haven't lost one since getting my boat.
  22. Yeah my brother picked him up in fantasy just cuz his other kicker was on a bye. He madse a good choice!
  23. Sorry just realized that the mounting bracket is not in the pic. Just picture a 6 inch long square tube minus one side. Fits perfectly over that motor plate on the boat.
  24. Sorry for the delay guys, here is the pic of my rudder. Basically a 1/8 steel plate screwed to a piece of 3/4 electrical conduit. To mount it I welded up a couple pieces of angle iron to form a square tube, minus one side. So it just slips down over the motor mounting area on the boat. To keep it from sinking to the bottom of the lake in the event it pops loose, I have a short piece of rope with caribiners on each end, one clips around the conduit the other to the carry handel on the boat. I have really plowed some stumps with it and it has yet to come loose. It works really good! I can now fish effectively in the wind. A week or so ago I was out in about 20-25 mph winds and she ran straight as an arrow.
  25. Awesome videa! Some real hawgs in there!!
