  1. I really want to make one of these for mine, I have seen the pic on the buster site and don't want to pay the price. Does anyone have one of these they could send pics of too me? I would like a few close up shots of one so I can weld one up at work. Thanks in advance!! Cliff
  2. You must be one agile guy. What's your day job, tight rope walking? I am about 5'9" and weigh around 200lbs, I am not too agile, however I do have the balance of a jungle cat. ;D Seriously though, these boats are stable, I stand and fish comfortably. No problems casting or setting the hook. Have you ever been in one? Cliff
  3. No problem, if you have any question feel free to PM me, I will help any way I can.
  4. I have an 8' Raider and I stand and fish all the time! I have a piece of 3/4 plywood about 24" long and as wide as the floor with carpet on it to stand on. It works great, no stability issues, even while swinging for the fences. Check out this thread for pics and a ton of info on other mods/add ons/ideas for these style boats. I believe I have some picstures on there of my rig. http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1276898284
  5. I don't own a spinning Excel, but I do own the 703, 704,734,and 7116 in casting. For that sale price BUY IT!! Even at normal price they are great. You won't be disappointed. I use my 704 M for spinnerbaits. I use it with braid and just this morning I horsed a 3lber out of some pretty heavy cover with it no problems. It makes a great rod for spinnerbaits in my opinion. Plus, lifetime warranty and made in the USA!! Cliff
  6. Get the Excel!!! I have four and love them. For the regular price they are great, for that sale price it is a steal! Lifetime warranty and made in the USA. Can't go wrong. Cliff
  7. I really did well with crankbaits this year, mainly the Bandit 200 in pearl/chart back color. More recently I have been having good success on jerkbaits, LC Pointer in ghost minnow or pearl ayu. In short, hardbaits have been my new bait.

Thanks, this was my first attempt this weekend at jerkbaits. I got a couple pointers to get me started. They have produced very well, I will be getting more, gotta have all those pretty colors!

Yeah, and from what I have seen on the water and read in the local forum, nobody is catching much in the timber, especially for bigger fish. The turnament they had last week only took 8lbs to win. I probably had almost that much with three fish this morning!

While everyone else on the lake was up flippin shallow timber, I decided to fish a shallow flat that drops down to an old roadbed in about 15 feet of water. I caught six total this morning, all on a LC Pointer78sp in Ghost Minnow. This one was the biggest, I did not put it on the scale but it was 21 inches long and I guess around 4-4.5 lbs. I have never had a bass attack my bait like this. After the cast I made two twitches and this fish SMASHED that Pointer!! It was a nice fight as well being a long cast and a ML rod. Was alot of fun!

I had one of those Rapala scales, every dang fisg I caught weighed 2lbs!!! So I chunked it and now I use the Berkley one. It seems to be accurate enough for me.
  12. Run a search for this topic, check the articles section, or the "Best of BR" thread and you will find more than you want to know aboiut the senko. Cliff
  13. Well I haven't actually done it yet. I told the Cub Scout head lady that I would be more than happy to come in on the weekends and build shelves in their building and also finish the walls, fix the toilet and any other building type things that need to be done. The last group who ran the thing kinda messed up the building, so I am gonna fix it!
  14. I never really thought about any long term goals. My goal for this season was to catch a lmit (5 bass) of keepers in one outing. Can't seem to break the "four" mark. Gonna give it all I got every weekend though!!
  15. I want to build one as well for my pelican. I think something that fits over/clamps to the back of the boat with an arm coming down to desired depth with a plate mounted to it would work. I am thinking of buying scrap aluminum from work to make one. The only poblem I have is I don't have the capability to weld aluminum in my shop. So I would have to screw it together or just make it from steel then spray galvanize it to keep from rusting. Here is one that Buster Boats makes, although over priced in my opinion, it might give you some ideas. http://busterboats.com/asccustompages/products.asp?fav=0&LargePic=ALL&categoryid=3&fpage=Page=&ProductID=12
  16. I am not really a big horror movie guy, but I do watch them and they have never really bothered me or anything like that, except one. Paranormal Activity scared the crap out of me. I freakin lost sleep over this movie! My wife likes them and can't wait for us to watch the second one together.
  17. I just bought four of these recently and they are awesome. I had to pay full price but even that is a deal in my opinion.
  18. You will get it man. Just this morning I was about to call it quits, the crank bite I was on died completely, couldn't get a bite on anything. Figured I would try one more thing before I left. I tied on an X-Rap, first cast I nabbed a 2.5lber! I was happy, packed my stuff and went to the ramp.
  19. I am like you, I pack light. I use 4 rigs and I could name every bait in my box right now. I have about 10-12 bags of plastics and one standard size plano box that holds jigs and a few hardbaits. My box is really small and hold all my baits plus tools, knife, sunscreen etc etc. When I am running low on something I just by that one thing to re-stock. If I try something new and don't like it or it dosen't work for me, I get rid of it.
  20. I recently got my first pitchin/flippin rig. I don't know your budget, mine was pretty low. I went with the Lamiglas Excel 7116 ($120). It is 7'11". I use a Revo S-L with braid, and I fish some pretty heavy timber. The rod is awesome! I have no problems pitchin or flippin with it. I haven't caught a ton of fish with it yet but I did get one 5lber a couple weeks ago and this rod made this fish seem like a dink. It handled it with no problems. It can also double for a swimbait rod, it is rated for up to 2oz. lures.
  21. Thanks for the info guys. I almost always have a spinnerbait tied on, it is one of my best producers. The fishing was crap today, guess that crank bite is dying off now! Cliff
  22. So rumor has it that jerkbaits (the hard ones) are great in the fall and winter. I have decided that I want to give them an honest effort this year. I ordered a couple LC pointer 78SP to get me started. One is Ghost Minnow and one is Pearl Ayu. Anyway, the water temperature today was 77. The crankbait bite has been very good for two weeks now. I am wondering when the best time would be to start with the jerkbaits? I am getting bit on the crank in anywhere from 4-10 foot of water. Any additional info regarding hard jerkbaits will be much appreciated!! Thanks Cliff
  23. I saw it happen twice this year, and both times I didn.t even have a cast out. They just jumped and did a few crazy flips and that was that.
  24. I missed him my fantasy league. He was available but I figured I would wait one more week to see if he was gonna start....needless to say I should have grabbed him up then cuz someone else had the same idea, but was quicker.
  25. I am using a 7'11" Lamiglas Excel. I really like it. However I am mainly pitchin to very heavy timber so you might not want that big of a stick. The same series of rods has a 7'3" MH that might suit you. Plus they are 100% made in the USA...not too shabby for $110! Check them out. http://www.***.com/Lamiglas_Excel_Bass_Series_Casting_Rods/descpage-LEBSRC.html
