  1. I'm not superstitious, maybe a little stitious but not super. ;D
  2. I guess I misread the title when I first posted, what I wrote was for the year, not the summer. The summer has been terrible. I can't seem to catch anything over 12 inches. Don't know what my problem is, this heat is killing me!! I can't find the bass!.
  3. I buy when I NEED something. I will buy just one pack of plastics at a time. This year on baits alone I have spent maybe $100, probably less. I guess you could say I don't "stock up". For example, in my box right now is two packs rage craws, one pack anacondas, one pack power worms, one pack senkos(only three left), one pack trick worms(three left), one pack baby rage craws, and one pack paca craws. A dozen or so jigs, maybe eight cranks, a few topwaters and spinnerbaits and thats it. Same goes for line, when I need it, I go get it.
  4. The lake I fish is normally pretty stained. Maybe 1-2 foot visibility, which as far as I am concerened is the norm, it has always been that way. However recently I have noticed that it has cleared up significantly, now maybe 4 foot visibility. Is this a big enough change for me to make any changes in my gear? I am mostly talking line here. I use 50#PP with no leader on all my rigs besides crankin in which I use a mono leader. Also I have been having are hard time catching much since I have noticed this change in water clarity. Do you think my line has become a visibility factor? Can the fish see it? This lake is also highly pressued and even more so in the areas I am fishing. Is it time for me to buy some Fluoro line? Thanks for any help. Cliff
  5. One pack Rage Craws, green pumpkin. One Bandit Series 200, I like Pearl w/ Chart Back.
  6. That does help, thanks. I usually only hit each log or whatever once and move along. I know I should give each piece of cover more time with the bait. I just need to focus and fish slower, like I said. I know the fish are there, everything and everyone tells me to flip the timber on this lake, even in the dog days. They say you can stay fairly shallow all year and catch good fish.
  7. Hey y'all, I do alot of flippin and pitchin, mostly pitchin but I am working on getting better at flippin. I am curious how you "work" the bait, after you make your flip/pitch? I fish flooded timber and I usually have a jig or t-rigged craw tied on. After it hits the water, I wait a few seconds, then give it a little hop or two, wait, one more hop then on to next cast. I feel that in this heat we are having I need to slow down my presentation. I am wondering what some others might do. Maybe I need to let it sit longer? Drag instead of hop? Basically let me know what your bait does after it hits the water with these short line techniques? Thanks Cliff
  8. lol Pretty big ol' mouth to fit a grenade in it......... Well..... she is a blonde :-X Hey! Your mom is a very nice lady! Yours isnt. Im still taking penicillin.... LOL!! Once again, I bow to the master!!!
  9. 50# Power Pro. Or 20# is using spinning gear.
  10. My folks had to put my dog down a couple years ago. He was almost 15, that is super old for a dalmation. He was awesome and super smart, his name was Bilbo. Sorry for your loss. Time will help like someone said above.
  11. I used to get super mad when I lost a big fish. Once I lost one I swear was over 10lbs. I was mad for a month!!! Now I just shrug it off and keep fishing.
  12. Well I decided what I am going to get. I will get the Lamiglas Excel XL7116C, 7'11" Flippin and pitchin rod. I figured as much flippin and pitchin I do I should have a proper flippin stick. Hopefully it will work out good, the rod is as long as my boat!! It will take a bit of getting used to I am sure. Thanks for everyones help, I will report back and let you know how I like it.!! Thanks again Cliff
  13. Don't sweat it man. I haven't caught a bass over 10 inches in like a month!! But I still go out 3-5 times a week. This summer is killing me, my worst yet. One thing you might try if you can get them, is Zoom Super Fluke, rig it weightless, toss it out, let it sink, twitch twitch, sink. Be ready they usually nail it on the fall. Never give up man!!! Good luck!
  14. For me anything under 2lbs is a dink. And recently thats all I can catch!!
  15. I have the very same unit as you do. You need to turn that feature off, I think it is "fish ID" or something like that. I have yet to see an "arch" on mine, but that dosen't mean I haven't caught fish. I rely on it to show me the bottom contour like humps and drops and such. I have also seen some "blobs" floating on it which I believe were baitfish.
  16. I think so. Its fast, easy, and strong. It is the only knot I use. Same here, I know how to tie a couple others, but this is the only one I ever use.
  17. I do. I mostly flip and pitch jigs and t-rigs, never a leader for me.
  18. Went to Academy tonight to grab some Rage Craws and I checked out the rods while I was there. Besides the Allstars they had some Carrot Stix and the Skeet Tessera rods. I looked at the Skeet jig/worm rod and the HVY Carrot. I liked them both however the Skeet rod felt a bit heavy to me. Then again it is a much larger rod than I am used to. There is so many choices from many good name brands it is kinda hard to choose, especially when you don't have a place to go and handle all of them. Decisions decisions!!!
  19. Maybe I will go for a medium RW, however those two you mentioned are a bit out of my price range. My only concern is if I hook into a large bass with the medium will it have the power to keep her from running me into some very heavy timber? Currently I am looking at the Vendetta, Lamiglas Excel, or Airrus Co-matrix. I won't be buying anything too soon though, I have to wait for profit sharing check from work!!
  20. I have tried Tur-Tungston and some other brand I can't remember, Lake Frok Tackle maybe. Anyway the other brand was almost impossible to thread braid through that insert. I guess mono or flouro would go in easier because it has a stiffness to it, forget it with braid, unless you have a perfectly clean cut on the end and super vision it ain't happening. The Tru_tungston ones are super easy with a big opening and no insert, plus pegging them is much easier. For me they are worth the extra 50 cents. I haven't seen any others that were less than about $5.50 per pack.
  21. Goonies We Were Soldiers Remember the Titans Men of Honor Radio Braveheart Men In Black I & II Castaway Star Wars Series Indiana Jones Series
  22. I just got my 4th Revo S a couple weeks ago, and that is all I will buy as long as they keep making them. I have two that were bought this year and two that were bought a couple years ago. If is wasn't for the boat rash I wouldn't be able to tell them apart, they all work perfectly. Best reel for the $$ in my opinion.
  23. Another thing I don't think I mentioned was that I use a "Bigfoot" switch for my motor. Basically it splices into the TM wires and now you can operate your hand control motor with your foot. This is a big improvement! You still have to steer with your hand but I just put the motor on "1" and start cruising the shoreline and make small steering adjustments as I go. http://www.amazon.com/Trolling-Switch-Action-Operated-Motors/dp/B001BAKM60
  24. I have recently acquired another baitcasting reel, so I figure I need a new rod! I am not looking for a brand recommendation here, but a size recommendation. First let me tell you what I have, everything is baitcasting. 6'6" HVY-jigs, t-rigs 6'9" MED HVY-t-rigs, senkos, flukes 6'3" MED HVY-spinnerbaits, small swimbaits, topwater, jerkbaits 7'0" HVY Crankin stick-Cranks, lipless cranks, jerkbaits I fish mostly heavy timber but have been recently moving into deeper water outside the treelines. I was thinking about a MED rod to use with the senko and flukes and dedicate the other one to t-rigs. Not sure if a MED will get the job done if I get into a decent fish in the heavy cover. I have also considered a proper flippin stick, but honestly I have no problems getting big bass out of the timber with my 6'6" HVY. Maybe just another MED HVY all purpose rod would be the right choice. Two things that I never use, but probably should are c-rigs and drop shot, possibly something for these techniques? So what would you recommend? Thanks! Cliff
  25. Great post. The t-rigged craw has been one of my best baits this season, it is also responsible for my PB which you see in my avatar picture. It was a Green Pumpkin Rage Craw to be exact with a colored Tungston 1/8 bullet weight.
