My Shark Fishing Trip...PICS!!
yes this was my first experience catching a shark, and it wont be the last....i hear ya about the knife thing...but he was careful and always made sure we were away from him and the knife and the shark, especially my nephew...the jacket was basically a prop for the pictures...this guide is also a photographer...and he wanted some color in the pic...other than that no jackets were needed....except for my nephews life jacket ;D my brother has already started planning for a trip next spring and i am sure we will make more than one next year...next time i go with my step dad, he was on this trip, we want to catch some tarpon, we have been told they are great fun and much tougher than the sharks Cliff

My Shark Fishing Trip...PICS!!
Well i went to galveston this week. Tuesday we left the marina at 6:30am with the guide....we went about 8 miles out and man let me tell you....IT WAS AWESOME!! i caught 8 sharks, two of which were over 100lbs the rest were around 50-75lbs and i had one smaller 25lber that i let my nephew reel in(he only weighs 60lbs himself) the smaller sharks were black tips and the larger ones were spinners....they get that name cuz of the way they spin when the jump out of the water...one of the 100lbers i was fighting was swimming so fast my line was leaving a wake....then out of nowhere he launches himself like 8 feet out of the water, spinning like crazy, then lands about 10 feet from the boat...that was the sweetest thing i have ever seen!!! he was so close to the baot when he landed it splashed us....it was so much fun and really quite a workout.....we used 80lb test mono, big shimano reels on penn rods that reminded me of billiard cues, hooks that were about the size of your hand, balloons for bobbers and big 12" dead shad for bait.....we actually only brought one shark(100lber) into the boat for pictures, the rest we cut off, it was great fun and will probebly become a yearly trip if i have anything to say about it...but next time we may go after tarpon as well as sharks...anyway it was a blast, i am at work right now, but check back later and i will have pics and maybe a short video clip Cliff

Your Biggest freshwater fish?
mine would have to be a 36.5 inch muskie i caught on light tackle with 6lb XL while walleye fishing....man what a fight!..it hit a 10" walleye i was reeling in....when i finally landed it the walleye was all mangled and dangling on my line and 1/8 oz jighead was actually hooked in the corner of the muskies mouth...all the people who were fishing in this bridge area all gathered round to see what was going on..it was pretty cool...only got one pic and its a crappy one...then i thanked her and let her go..i know the pic is terrible but you get the idea

little help please
hey guys...been fishing a couple small private tanks for the past month or so...it started out great....one tank produced big numbers and the other produced less fish but bigger sizes....each time we go we catch less and less on either tank....to the point now where we cant hardly buy a bite...most fish have been caught on trick sticks, and topwaters.....i have caught a few on cranks and jigs...but now i cant catch anything....i have tried everything...shallow, deep, weed edges, open water, fast, slow, small, big...nothing the last two trips out...gonna head out there this evening....any tips? the weather has been HOT and HUMID with bluebird skies....occasional t-storm in the evenings and little wind...if ya got any ideas they would be appreciated....other wise i will probably stick to a jig and crank tonight thanks Cliff

Help needed Re baitcasting

Settin' that darn hook
like mentioned above...watching your line is key

Help needed Re baitcasting
inline bucktail spinners always produced pike for me....run em just under the surface so the water "bulges"...plus they are heavy and will cast nicely on your casting gear Cliff

Spinning Reels

jig fish
well i musta got lucky or something...fished the jig again last night for about 3 hours...not even a nibble....gonna give it a go again tonight tho....earlier this year i had a LARGE bass on my line, right at my feet, i got a good look at it and it was BIG...but i lost it....i am determined to catch that fish...i figure a jig is the way to do it Cliff

how do you make a link say something other than the link nonsense.....like when lightnin rod posts his pics....the link you click says "7 lber" or something to that effect...if i wanted to put a link to a photobucket page in my sig and the link says..."my fish of 2007" how do i do that? Cliff
-

Tackle Mods
that live pointer poor mans deal is kinda cool...can something like that be done to a deep diving crank? Cliff
-
Idea for this site...
members could put a link in their sig or profile to a photobucket album or something similar to show off their catch...that might be easier and it wouldnt require anything from the mods...and others could just check it from time to time for added photos Cliff
