  1. thanks, i figure maybe a turtle got a hold of him maybe...or...could that be an infected hook wound? i use cranks alot and could have been a rear hook got him there or something...thanks for the info tho Cliff
  2. went out today but only for an hour or so...it was hot, the some hot moved in and it was hot for a while, then it was HOT again ;D i caught one fish, 3lbs, but it had this weird "fungus" on its gill plate....it looked to me like a wound with algea growing in it, anyone every seen something like this? Cliff
  3. yes we do, but i wouldnt go there if i was told i cant as far as today went, my partner didnt want to go to the golf course and i couldnt change his mind, so went to our usual spot...he got one dink and i got a 3lber on a LC Fat BDS...check the outing section for pics...it had some weird fungus on it too Cliff
  4. thanks flechero, i am trying to get out of here(work) now so i can go...nothing to do and we havent been having any luck in the evening so i thiught i would try in the middle of the day Cliff
  5. well i know the lake came up like 20 something feet, and from what i remember from the ponds surroundings, it was probebly a very shallow channel into the lake...the lake came up pretty fast but it has been awhile now bringing it back down...i will post the results of my "field study" tonight Thanks Cliff
  6. a pond i fish on the golf course became part of the lake for about a month and a half with all the flooding we had here, now that the lake level has gone down, the pond is back and fishable again...my question is, since the pond was flooded by the lake, do you think the bass "escaped to sea"? or do they generally stay close to home even with the body of water going from maybe 2-3 acres to 7,000 plus? i am planning to fish there this afternoon and am wondering how bad this flooding may have hurt the fishing...although i guess on the other hand, all the hawgs from the lake could have come in to the pond and got trapped, right? thanks Cliff
  7. well i just cant seem to catch a decent fish in this heat...but i did catch a bunch of dinks on my new baits from ***....1 each on brush bug, duper fluke, finesse worm and ripper worm, plus i caught two on a spinnerbait...the biggest was only about 12 inches or so....dont know what to do really....i go slow and have downsized my baits...either way i was fishin and i was happy!! Cliff
  8. that is absolutely correct, they will bend hooks and wires, tear up paint jobs, and leave teeth marks on everything...but man they are fun to catch
  9. no kiddin! i would like to see pics of t-rigs entire hard bait collection Cliff
  10. oh yeah, for brands, i would look for Mepp's for inline spinners
  11. first make sure you get steel leaders, very important, big bucktail inline spinners, big jerkbaits, big topwaters, big spinnerbaits,,,red and white are always good, orange,yellow...pike will eat anything in my experience...dead smealt and the like work good too under a bobber...or live suckers...big ones....have fun, they are great to catch...very explosive strikes Cliff
  12. i will most likely be able to attend, if it is in texas and if i can get a seat on a boat or go in on a rentalw ith someone Cliff

hey guys, so i am expecting an order from *** this week, just have a couple questions, i ordered some baits that i have never fished before.....the beaver craw and the *.....anyone got any tips on how you fish these two baits? are they mainly jig trailers or can they be fished by themselves? i also got the ripper worm, finesse worm, duper fluke, and brush bug, but i think i got those handled...any tips you can give me is much appreciated! thanks Cliff
  14. when i lived in Minnesota, i heard one that muskies/pike would loose all their teeth, they would fall out at a certain time of year(cant remember when)and thats why they werent biting, cuz they had sore mouths.....but after doing some reading, this is NOT TRUE...its just tough fishing this time of year Cliff
  15. just practice...maybe in an open lot or something...soon you will learn the clutch and when, where, how it feels when it "catches"...then you will be able to hop in any manual shift vehicle and drive it perfectly...practice,practice,practice...you will get it Cliff P.S. Stick shift IS more fun to drive i think...but it tends to suck in a traffic jam!
  16. i have never owned or held a high end rod, but the powell rods look nice and they are in your price range http://www.powellco.com/ Cliff
  17. how exactly would you fish one of these? what is the difference between say a power worm and a finesse worm? is a zoom trick worm considered a finesse worm? thatks in advance guys, i am just curious what the differences are and how to use them effectively Cliff
  18. i use one of those worm binder deals....i keep my favorites in it and everything else stays home, if i think i might want something different i put it in before i leave...but i dont do this too often cuz i dont have that many plastics....i am finding that i like hard baits better, but i am still going to make an order from *** this weekend Cliff
  19. cant go wrong with a cardianl reel, great reel at a great price!
