  1. I've glued the lip of some Jabber Jaws so they don't swing side to side. Turns them into a silent squarebill and I've had good luck with them. I've also put all kinds of paint, glitter, holographic stickers on crankbaits over the years to add a little extra pizazz to them or completely change their look. Added the tail end of a curly tail worm to the back hook. It worked when it didn't get caught up in the other hook.
  2. NRS has extra 25% off sale items. Looks like there's a lot of stuff in the sale.
  3. Yeah they have the site set up weird. If you look at the Pro series rods, zoom in on the picture of the rod grip, it lists them there. Also, pretty sure the Pro series are the exact same as the non pro series, so better off just buying the pro series if you don't mind the custom paint job or whatever it is.
  4. Lew's Custom Pro for $180 at BPS. Great deal if you like Lew's.
  5. Big Bite Baits has a bunch of soft plastics on sale. Some at 50% off.
  6. Could try a tiny bullet weight in front of the jig, or a little glue over the knot. Or just try to swim/bounce it on top of the grass.
  7. I was recently thinking this myself. Been revamping some of my setups and was wondering what setups could pull double duty. Specifically crankbaits and bladed jigs. I don't fish either of those very often, so I didn't want to spend the money for a high end setup. I ended up getting 2 Abu Garcia Winch Crankbait rods on sale. MH-MF & M-MF. These 2 rods will cover most of my treble hook baits other than jerkbaits.
  8. I'll say this, the kayak you start with might not be the one you end with lol. And no kayak is perfect for all situations, so try to match it to what you'll be fishing. I'm on my 5th. Started with an 11' kayak, too small. Moved up to a 13'5 Lure, great kayak, but too narrow (not stability wise, just not enough room to move around, felt constrained). Then bought a Hobie PA 14 360. Great kayak, but didn't feel it gave me much over some other options for 2x the price. I now fish out of 2 kayaks, Native Titan 12 (Not the X) and a Jackson Big Rig FD. Love both of them. Titan is much easier to maneuver so that's my small water kayak. Big Rig is my big/open water kayak. Coming from a boat you may find a 10' kayak doesn't have high enough capacity for all the gear you want to bring. No motor/battery will help with that though. Although I agree with others, I don't like fishing tournaments without one. Casual outings I just pedal. Both of my kayaks are big and heavy. It's a non issue though, get a good cart and balance the kayak on it correctly and you're lifting 40lbs tops. Depends on where and how you have to store them as well. My best advice, try to buy a good used one if you can. If you aren't happy with it you will be able to sell it for about what you paid for it.
  9. Nice! The Plx Tournament rods for $84 are a great deal. I have several of them and I'm trying to convince myself I need a couple more lol
  10. I peg a small bullet weight on them sometimes just to drag them through the grass better.
  11. Storm 5" Rattlin tube. I have about 10 bags left from when I bought a bag full of them when they went on clearance years ago. Mann's Hardworm. Caught a few bass with it but tons of pickerel.
  12. I know this is from a few months ago but if you're still looking, the Jackson Big Rig FD is on sale for $2700 (2024 leftovers). Great deal for this kayak if you are still looking.
  13. And now Black Blue Flake is on sale too. Hoping the watermelon color is next.
  14. The Yum Dinger 100 pack is 15% off on Amazon. $23 for 100. Green Pumpkin w Black Flake color only.
  15. 30% off Yamamoto baits at TW until 4/9.
  16. 13 Fishing for me as well. Epic shad and Greenie were good in clear water. Not long ago a few places had all 13 Fishing lures on clearance, I loaded up. Big fan of them.
  17. GPS Store has the Raymarine Element 12hv w/ transducer for $799. Anyone have this unit? Seems like a great deal. Only comes with Lighthouse charts, maybe that's why it's cheaper?
  18. FishUSA has 13 Fishing Fate Black 3 rods for BOGO. I don't know if these are any good or not, anyone ever use one? You have to add them to your cart (per email I got). Valid today only.
  19. I've used a 10' Pond Prowler for 20 years on small lakes/ponds. Love it. I'm on my second one as I left mine out in a snow storm by accident one year and water got into the hull and the wood in the floor became too heavy to lug around (water froze above the thru hull cable location and seeped in when it thawed). Still floated as I used it a couple of times before deciding to just buy a new one. Stability is amazing, the seats in the Prowler are very comfortable, plenty of room for 2 people. I have a 50lb trolling motor on it (overkill) but it's what I had so I just use it. The old one I had a 30 lb and that worked fine, probably would go with 36 or 40 if had to buy again. I fish out of a kayak a lot now for tournaments, but if it was just for fun I'd take the Prowler out 100% of the time, for the money it really is a great little fishing machine. They redesigned them a few years ago, I do not know anything about the new design compared to the old though. I'd take a chance on it if I was looking just based of my exp with the older model.
  20. Make sure the rod doesn't have a discount already. Took awhile for me to figure it out, but rods already discounted won't work even though it says Special Offer Available under it. You have to select a rod that is at full price, then click the corresponding coupon and it will work. At least that's how I was able to get it to work. Still some really nice deals even without being able to use it with on sale items. I've bought a few rods/reels and stocked up on baits that were on sale too.
