  1. Man this is tough. I can't find a bad review on either one. I like the lifetime warranty on the Dobyns, but that Tatula just looks awesome.
  2. When I saw the $100 difference that's what I figured
  3. I'm not sure what rods you're looking at. The Tatula is $119 & the Dobyns is $110.
  4. I've caught a lot of fish over the years using green Ande mono.
  5. I have it narrowed down to these two. Which of these would you go with for frogging and small swimbaits. Daiwa Tatula 7'4" TAT741HFB Dobyn's Fury 735C I have a bunch of Amazon points to cash in, and these are both available there.
  6. I'm set up so far this year with my worm/senko rod, crankbait/small topwater rod, swimbait rod, frog rod (sorta) and a multi purpose spinning setup. Anyways, I found these two rods squirreled away in the garage. What would you guys use them for? St Croix Premier 6' M/F casting rod St Croix Triumph 6' M/F spinning rod What would be the recommended use for these two?
  7. I have a couple 4600 C3's. I have been thinking about using one of them on my frog rod. I'm old so I still love the round reels
  8. I'd just keep the Trion. I have 2 of them I've never had a problem with. But then again I like buying new gear too so...
  9. How did this turn into a $22 Tatula?
  10. Nope no tourneys. I just bass fish for the love of it. I'm almost always in my 10' jon boat, I very seldom bank fish. Water clarity varies from late summer algae filled ponds to crystal clear rocky lakes. And there is a swimbait setup in there. I came across that frog setup at FFO tackle. I got it and the Trion reel for $48 shipped. I actually looked at one today at Walmart. I'll probably end up giving it to my son. Most of his gear got stolen last year so he's getting setup with my old stuff that I'm replacing.
  11. It's been about 10 years since I really upgraded my gear. Please let me know your opinions on what I have and what you think I might be missing. New this year: G. Loomis IMX-PRO 853C JWR with a Daiwa Tatula SV TW 103XS. This will be my contact bait rod. Senkos, T-rigs, jigs. I'll probably get a slower reel down the road. G. Loomis E6X 842S SJR with my old Sahara 2500. This is for drop shots, wackys, lightweight topwater. Just a general lighter baits, do all spinning setup. Berkley 7' MH Lightning Rod Shock with a Pfluger Trion baitcaster. This is on it's way still. I bought this for a frog rod, but I'm already thinking about upgrading the rod. Either a Tatula 7' 4", a Veritas 2.0 7'6" or a Dobyns Fury 753C. Old stuff I'm still using: G Loomis PR844C with either a Daiwa Exceler or Revo S. This has been my crankbait / topwater rod for years. I can't see it going anywhere. Shimano Clarus CSC80HB with a Shimano Cardiff 300A. This is my swimbait rod. I know I could get a lot lighter in weight on this setup, but I don't fish it enough to make it a priority. OK guys, have at it. Does this look good or do you see big holes? I have a lot more to choose from, but this is my plan starting out this season.
  12. I don't see the IMX-PRO line either. It looks like the site might not be finished just yet.
  13. I'm still looking at the Daiwa Tatula frog rod. At $22 I can just give this one away if it doesn't work out.
  14. Looking at FFO today after someone mentioned them last night. I picked up a reconditioned 7' MH Lightning Rod Shock & a Pfluger Trion baitcaster for $48.38 shipped. I figured at that price it was worth taking a chance on. Any opinions?
  15. Would that Lightning shock casting rod be a decent frog rod?
  16. My crankbait rod is a Loomis PR844C M/F. I love it.
  17. Thanks guys. I agree on going with a slower model since this will be for Senkos primarily. One more question, is the SV TW really needed since I really wont be fishing light weight baits with this setup? On the bay I can darn near get 2 100HS's for the price of the SV TW. Just for comparison I'm replacing a Lamiglas Competitor and a 7 year old Revo S.
  18. I've used Ande line for years. I started because I was young and broke and it was cheap. I recently have been using Sufix Siege and I like it. But Ande has worked well for me for a long time.
  19. My son is hooked up with the G. Loomis purchase program. I was able to pick up a IMX-Pro 853C JWR for $130. Now I need a reel. So far I'm leaning towards a Daiwa Tatula SV TW 8.1. This will be my primary Senko / worm rod. Does this look to be a good combo?
  20. Am I the only one that likes Ande?
  21. Hot glue is what I've always used. Works great.
  22. It's an old model 65 if it makes any difference..
  23. Hey guys, on my 10 ft jon boat I have a old 28 lb minn kota. I'm at work so I cant give you the model but its white with rocker switches for forward and reverse, and a twist throttle. If I replaced it with a new endura 30 would I even notice any difference? Are the newer ones more battery efficent?
