  1. They should reboot them, make em out of aluminum like the older versions, and position it to compete with the 21 zillion. Of course, the reel better be great if Shimano wants to compete with the king.
  2. Is it just me or these reels have completely lost their popularity? I have not seen a single person talk about the newer Chronarch models since the first month the chronarch mgl came out. Surprised they're still making them. Used to be such a popular platform back in the E and D days, but now, completely forgotten.
  3. 21 zillion will be remembered as a legendary reel just like the pixy, tdz, conquest 50, curado 50e, chronarch d and the core.
  4. Been using the same few Shimano grease and Cal's grease for some time now. Tried the Daiwa 104 grease earlier this year, and its pretty good as well. What's y'all using?
  5. Ah so they've been acquired eh, didn't hear that one. It is kinda weird to me that they own Lews, a similar company to Quantum, but one that i imagine is much more popular in NA, and now offers pretty high end reels as well.
  6. Since KVD left, i am not too sure how they're surviving. They don't offer any interesting reels and their prices aren't neccessary lower than the lower end from daiwa, shimano and lews. Who even buys them nowadays? In the early 2000's, at least they had some reels such as the Energy PT that was interesting, but you look at their lineup now, and its straight up Walmart grade shovelware. Then you look at their Smoke line going for $200, the reel that i've heard the most praise for, and i am reminded that a 21 JDM Zillion cost this much. Surprising to see 13fishing being acquired by Rapala faster than Quantum.
  7. Would never spend money on a rod with "as we know the AGS guides can be fragile", let alone spend $400+ on a rod like that when there's plenty of titanium guides from fuji that will last you an eternity.
  8. That's what i use as well because i couldn't find any U-40 here in Canada.
  9. I kinda agree when cork is new. After a few seasons, not a fan.
  10. Do you protect the cork handle of your rods with a cork sealer? I personally have been doing it since 2018, and not sure why i didn't start doing so much earlier. Looks better, has a better texture and stays clean.
  11. wow the 5.5 ratio is sub $200 lol. when has the fishing industry ever gotten a better deal? this is ridiculous, and i don't know how Daiwa is making money on these.
  12. Watchout for those knobs, they scratch faster than a TDZ.
  13. JDM zillion is so far ahead of everything else that it'd be a shame if you skipped it, and grabbed something inferior. All those Tats and Curados are nothing but toys compared to a JDM Zillion. A complete waste of money.
  14. I baby my reels so much that i'd prefer losing a PB than scratching my custom td ito🤭
  15. At these prices, the Met is certainly in trouble.
  16. And the 12 ball bearings upgrade that i did, which are all the black bearings from the steez sv tw, this reel is so smooth under load that you're just not getting any smoother when going higher end.
  17. Daiwa is too dumb to have em. Both were transfered from a steez a.
  18. I find the ray's spool to look super cheap and the plastic collar and engine cover still being on the reel is destroying the looks of the zillion to me.
  19. You replace those ugly plastic parts like the engine cover and the zero adjuster cap, and these reels are instanly much higher end looking.
  20. It absolutely did. I didn't bother mentioning it because the Met was already more popular anyways.
  21. Low profile and as light as possible to balance out on a non tip heavy rod. Of course this fits the bill for many other reels, but when it comes to the higher end reels, this is the reel that i kept hearing the most before 2021.
  22. Before the Zillion came out, the metanium was far more suggested in the higher-mid to high end baitcasters, and Aldebaran was always the jerkbait reel. Ever since 2021, all i ever hear is Zillion this and that, and its as if the two shimano reels were almost deleted from everyone's conversation. I don't know if its the $210 price from Japan for the Zillion, its gear set that doesn't go buzzy within a season, or just the whole package, but i have certainly noticed over the last couple of years that when a Shimano reel is suggested, its always the low end (SLX/Curado) or the conquest, since its arguably the best round reel on the market.
  23. Metanium DC when it drops in price in a year from now. Would get the steez as well, but the non 34mm spool is a deal breaker.
