  1. I actually defended him a little after Ok. Feel a little burned.
  2. The fact that he has demonstrated a clear pattern of behavior taints the win now. And before you say he didn’t need to then I will direct you to the podcast episode I linked above where Greg Hackney says Scott has been doing this for 25 years and that he saw the Okeechobee video. Scott “bumped into a guy for about 30 minutes” and that BASS 100% did the right thing. Other than trolls, ignoramuses and some highly questionable YouTube channels I haven’t seen anyone respectable come out in support of this guy.
  3. Last I heard BASS had a former FBI guy running their tests. But that's beside the point. The idea that you can just do your own test is preposterous. No sanctioning body in any sport would or should allow it.
  4. Yeah. The statement was pathetic. And it’s easy to see why there is suspicion. Who calls/texts so called strangers that they don’t know or trust to get info on water bodies that are “like Albemarle Sound”? If you believe that then I don’t know what to tell you. And then later on Scott sends the guy waypoints and info on Kentucky Lake for a tournament? Scott Martin is only a victim of his poor judgment. LOL. Maybe players in the NFL or the Olympics should pay for their own drug tests. Why is BASS a sheet show for enforcing the rules? In fact it’s quite the opposite. This is exactly right. Martin has been repeatedly called out by other anglers. The fact that absolutely nobody is coming to his defense is telling. Swindle even went off on how the whole self reporting was totally bogus. I would also remind people that Herren failed three tests and didn’t pass until he told the truth about the discussions with his son.
  5. Well, Bye. https://www.bassmaster.com/elite/news/official-statement-from-b-a-s-s-regarding-scott-martin/
  6. So I was listening to this today but admittedly I didn't listen to all of it. But Gerald Swindle called out Scott Martin pretty hard here basically saying he didn't self report. Start at around the 6:30 mark. https://www.bassmaster.com/video/oh-fish-ally-unofficial-is-the-no-info-rule-a-problem/
  7. That’s even worse. But there is also nothing BASS can do that won’t be criticized. On this one when it all shakes out they need to go open Kimono.
  8. Apparently the whole self reporting was a bogus story. He self reported and still practiced?
  9. I’m not familiar with it. But in the one video I watched he asked me to subscribe 3 times.
  10. Why? He claims he is getting info from Scott Martin.
  11. If it's true and apparently there are text messages according to "Get Ur Fish On", then after getting DQd 3 times in two seasons who is going to want him. "Get Ur Fish On" is in direct contact with Martin too. He seems to have credible information. A few anglers have voiced concerns about his integrity before. If he gets DQd or doesn't take a poly I think his BASS career might be over.
  12. Can someone explain Mike Long?
  13. When I was a kid I used to buy an orange one with whit polka dots. That was the last time I used them. Deadly. Taking them off to put them back in the jar took a little work.
  14. Yeah, the one that came with plastic worm rigged on the back. I used to get strikes with those as a kid but the hook up rate wasn't great. They started making Uncle Josh rinds again. I bought a jar but I haven't tried it yet.
  15. Somebody recently found him fishing an electric only league in Georgia. There are several recent podcasts on with guests that were his co-angler and one that finished second to him twice. The Luke Dunkin pod I think. In addition to the other things people mentioned, one of his co-anglers said it was weird fishing with him because he wouldn't make a cast until he got to certain spots and docks. When they asked him why he wasn't casting he would say something like: "I only cast to where the big fish are."
  16. On the retrieve I do 4-5 turns of the reel and then one fast 1/2 to 3/4 turn. But the strike always seems to happen when I least expect it.
  17. Anyone still use a Johnson Spoon in the grass?
  18. The sour grapes over Fothergill winning are really something. The guy beat everyone and really wasn’t close. Lots of “Scopers” didn’t even crack the top 40. The way he targeted individual fish and lured them out of cover in a methodical fashion was impressive.
  19. BASS After Dark should be good tonight. Topic is whether or not the classic is as big as it used to be.
  20. Fly fishing, is all about the strike and the fight. Often times it's close combat. When you a jerk stripping a streamer in and some predator fish materializes out of nowhere and hammers your fly it feels very up close and personal. Same goes for topwater. To answer your question directly, being new to fly fishing and being in a kayak would be a steep learning curve. On the one hand between managing the paddle and the loose line you'll have some moments of frustration. And this is true for even experts. Casting from a seated position is also a little different than standing. On the other hand the kayak can get you very close to the fish which gives you an advantage. There is an old couple who fish a lake I frequent who have some of those nice Old Towne Kayaks and they catch Bass, Crappie and even lots of Channel Cats on flies. The times when a spinning rod out-fishes a fly rod are usually when the river is chocolate and blown out, in which case I go to a lake lol. There is just something about fooling a big feeding fish that you spotted and caught on a imitation of the exact thing he is feeding on. The rewards are immense.
  21. Where was it that you caught the 87? I've caught 100 fish a day in Shenandoahs, Wisconsin and out west with Czech Nymphing rigs or on a good caddis day. Those were wild trout not a fake fishery like Taneycomo where there dumping scores of stupid hatchery fish on nearly a daily basis. 50% of the time I am fly fishing for trout I am using big streamers and I am just trying to catch the biggest brown trout possible. Also nowadays some guys are using straight mono, granted a much thicker grade. It's still enough weight on the line to make roll casts or just drag and drop. It's still fly fishing, but the presentation is methods are progressive.
  22. I can tell you right now that I can outfish a gear guy fishing for trout in a river. Also when I fish for smallies with fly rod I caught so many that I convinced my brother to get into fly fishing. Catching bream on a fly rod is childs play. Fishing for largemouth? I find subsurface fly fishing in a still water to be incredibly boring. I leave the fly rod at home unless the topwater bite is strong. Even then I prefer to use gear. Great post. I've seen guys slaying smallies using switch rods and making booming 80-90 feet casts with ease.
  23. I'm not a big Deion Sanders fan but I got a big kick out of him naming the Pumpkinseed Lizard his go to bait.
  24. That's the way it should be!
