  1. I too have just begun my baitcaster journey. A big tip for me was keeping my elbow (casting side) tucked into my side. I actually put a bag of plastic baits in my armpit and tried not to drop it during the cast. Keeping my elbow in by my side helped a lot. As mentioned earlier, smoothness is critical. I used spincasters and spinning reels for 60 years until this year. I finally decided to man up and I sure am glad I did.
  2. Kansas, Missouri, and Panama. Panama was peacock bass fishing in Lake Gatun usually in jon boat rented from the Army mwr.
  3. Yes. A Spyderco ambitious.
  4. You have gotten some good answers. I also am new to fish finders and also just purchased the same plain Jane striker 4. I just returned from my 5th trip. I am just now starting to feel like I can understand and interpret the data a little bit. It is going to take some more time with, but I can identify soft or hard bottom, and kinda of watch the fish move to different areas as the morning progresses. I can also map the weed lines pretty good. On YouTube the is a channel called 1cast1fish. He has a 1 plus hour on our model. He covers the theory and some use. He does a good job on Initial setup, options with explanations, and how to choose them. I sat there with my unit powered up and set it up step by step from the video. It was a great resource for me. Your mileage may vary. For me the bottom line is just use it and learn from experience.

  6. It will be fine. The circuit breaker will open if it detects amperage greater than 60 amps. This is for protection when something bad happens in the circuit, like a short, or maybe the trolling motor gets tangled in weeds and tries to draw excess power. It is not concerned with voltage only excessive power draw.

  8. Howdy all, Joined a little while ago and have been reading a lot and thought that it was time to introduce myself. I have fished on and off since I was knee high to a grasshopper as they say. I was blessed with a father who fished, his father and brothers all fished all well. Mostly farm ponds and a couple of creeks. Adulthood brought times of no fishing and some spectacular fishing. Fast forward to today. I recently retired and spent the first 7 months of retirement sitting by my father's hospital bed. Thankfully he has been home living on his own for they last 2 months. This left me with time to enjoy so I decided to fish a little more. I went out and bought a 1 man inflatable sea eagle 285 boat, put a trolling motor and a Garmin striker 4 on it. Right now I am exploring Missouri conversation area northwest of Kansas City. Thanks for having me. Thumper68
