  1. Looks like the Mercury 7.5e has about 45 min run time at wot. Extra battery and it’s a good option for 3.5 hp boats. Tom
  2. Looks good until you see the depth maybe 10’-15’ too deep depending on the seasonal period, yes good area. Tom
  3. Sounds like the Veer boat has a customer? Tom
  4. The reason I ask the ? What is a bog lake may seem silly. Eutropic is the 3rd stage of a natural lake aging before finally becoming a meadow. A bog lake could be the stage in between Eutropic and a bog with sphagnum moss, decaying vegetation, rotting wood, muck, coffee color water and mosquitos. Small natural lakes surrounded by bogs could be what you are looking for? Hope you catch a big bass? Tom
  5. Yes you have severe weather. When I say 8’ snow pack that is the average across a area larger then Maine. Mammoth gets snow so deep it cover the chair lifts over 20’. I know about looking for a car using a broom stick handle to probe snow and leave stuck to show the snow plow a car is under the snow where I grew up in SoCal Big Bear Lake, but it’s a micro climate above 7,000 feet with below zero temps. North East and Mid West Northern States with 40 below temps. Tom
  6. Dobyns new Culling clips. Tom
  7. California isn’t like Northern Eastern States elevation controls our winter temperatures. Right now the High Sierra mountains average 68” of snow pack, after this current storm add another 36-40” of snow or over 8’. The North East couldn’t survive 8’ of snow pack. We have our coastal and valley mild climates where freezing temperatures are uncommon, that is where our reservoirs with bass fishing are located. Currently we are experiencing storms raining 1” to 2” per hour for 5 out of 7 days, needed rain fall but can be destructive flooding that is now occurring. This spring- summer should be great bass fishing throughout the State. Pick your lake. Tom
  8. Rent a paddle board in the summer when you can wear a swim suit when you fall off ?‍♂️! Tom
  9. Spends lots of time in the area for work in aerospace defense business, not bass fishing. Tom
  10. If you have a sonar unit with GPS use the way points markers. If you don’t and fish near shore use visual triangle marks by aligning houses, or tall tree, docks etc. triangulation is old school still works good. Buoys work for off shore floating visual marker if you don’t have GPS. Toss the buoy to one side behind the boat to mark the spot, pick it up when you move on. Tom
  11. I assume you read the thread posted above. Northeast NJ I am unfamiliar with. Looks mostly to be Rivers and that is a different ball game. Lakes and ponds the replies above apply. It’s been a cold year so far that impacts water temperatures warming into the mid to upper 50’s ideal for pre spawn female bass. You found bluegill pie plate size beds, bass beds should be in the same area except a little deeper and 3x the size. If you cruisers, bass swimming along the bank not interested in lures the spawn is about to start. A few weeks before that those cruisers are staged deep nearby, usually a second at point or any point close by. Bass need wind protected areas to spawn similar to the areas you found bluegill beds, except they like something to protect them like a boulder, a dock post, any wood in about 5’ to 1 1/2’ deep. Rivers have current that changes the locations. Thing current protected area. From shore I would fan cast starting next to the bank in front of you and continue making a fan casting pattern all the way around near the bank behind you covering the entire area. Lures that work good uphill are good. Texas rigged soft plastic 8” Berkley Power Lizard or 9” Power worms for example. Tom
  12. Don’t waste money on the Evinrude TM. Not sure if that model year bass boat has a glassed over wood transom and stringers? Check for dry rot! Tom
  13. Look at the Fishing Tackle forum, near the bottom of the 1st page Fishing for pre spawn. I would add a link but not my thing. Tom PS, Search for 1 or 2 key words “pre spawn”.
  14. Read the current post Fishing for pre spawning the tackle forum. You can also go to the Search tool upper right corner on the forum pages. Tom
  15. Same price for the Mercury 7.5 hp Electric or 9.9 hp 2 stroke. Tom
  16. Use the knot that Seaguar recommends on the Smack Down box. Tom
  17. Rock Bass are not part of the Black Bass family. known as Goggle Eyes in the South and non existent in the west of the Rockies. Tom
  18. Black bass species can intergrade not hybridize, hybrids can’t reproduce. Lake Perris in SoCal produced the 1st world record Spotted Bass caught in California. What happened to Lake Perris Spotted bass population? They are gone today and only Florida strain LMB exist in Perris now. Copper Nose Bluegill from Florida and Redear Sunfish (Shell Crackers) were stocked into Perris and decimated the Spotted Bass spawn. Florida LMB displace Northern LMB by intergrading F1, F3 etc. in nearly every California lakes, no pure FLMB exists. Smallmouth bass population in Lake Shasta in NorCal was robust a decade ago, now displaced by Spotted Bass. The big battles appear to be between Spotted bass and Smallmouth bass who dominates the lakes population. Shasta has always had a good LMB population that continues to be abundant. I don’t believe a particular Black Bass species can over take another without additional species that prey on the spawn will dominate a particular lake, Tom
  19. Havasu is less prone to high winds then Mojave, the Parker Strip is river fishing along with lots of water sports boats. Hire a guide for a day. Tom
  20. Looks like Lund is entering the Skiff market, not a true bass fishing or until it’s boat. Tom
  21. Just a question to define a bog lake? Know what a bog is and bog pools but unfamiliar with a bog lake. Tom
  22. Full means exactly that full or maximum pool level at the spillway. Everything else is nonsense. Warm Springs dam (lake Sonoma) is a flood control dame feeding into the Russian River and controlled by cubic feed of water discharge to prevent flooding down stream. What maybe confusing is acre feet of water discharge vs Spillway elevation. I was considering buying property at lake Sonoma until deterring the lake was not a water storage facility but a flood control lake that would be drawn down during the wet winter rainy seasons. Tom
  23. What model sonar unit and what transducer do you have? Tom
