  1. I have broke two lifting fish but not big fish 3 pounders or smaller and have broke one on hookset and broke the other while fighting a fish. I fish hard and have for over 15 years so I am pretty sure I know what I am doing. The bottom line is if a rod cannot handle me swinging a 3 pound fish in or handle me setting the hook on a fish then I don't want it. Everyone on here acts like its my fault, but like i said i have fish for over 15 years and i fish here on ky lake not in litlle ponds or mudholes and I am on the water around 150 days a year. I guess ya'll missed the part where I said I have two older all star classics that I have never had any trouble out of.
  2. That is strange that is my fault, when I have around 20 other rods from several different brands ( Shimano, loomis, kistler, daiwa, falcon,st. croix) and have not had this trouble. I own two all star classic rods that are 10+ years old and have never had any trouble out of them. And it just so happens that today I was fishing with a buddy of mine and he broke one of his all star im10. We bought them from the same place so maybe a bad batch? I guess I could have worded the subject alittle different, something like "trouble with all star rods" wouold have been better but i am just aggravated alittle by this. I agree they stand by their rods and I can get new ones every time i break one but what good is it if it is just going to break again. The last new one I got I fished with for one morning for about three hours before I broke it, but I guess its all my fault.
  3. I just broke my forth team all star im10 rods, since FEburary. I have broke 3 -6'6" med. to med. hvy. and a 7' hvy. All have broken about half way up. I have got the ladt two replaced but I think I am done with them now, they are junk. So i don't see any need in trading broke junk in for more junk. Anyone else having a problem with all star rods?

The best crank for deep crankin you can buy, try burnin one on a 6.3 to 1 reel and you will get some hard reaction strikes. It is deadly here on kentucky lake when it gets HOT. I have caught more 8+ pound fish on this then any other technique. it will wear you out but it is worth it if they are bitin it, you can load the boat in a HURRY!
  5. bullsh*t, name one pro that has won a MAJOR tournament on this dink catcher. Senkos suck! ;D
  6. Not only is the kistler over a half an ounce lighter but it is also little stronger than the glx in the line slap test, and also they are testing kistlers magnesium line which is the middle of the road kistler vs. the glx loomis which is the top of the line Kistler helium II ltx weighs just a hair over 3 ounces that is a full ounce lighter than the glx. Just thougt I would point this out.
  7. You just opened a can of worms.. .but Kistler are pretty tuff, I just broke ajig n toad rod but it was two years old and I broke it on hookset but I set way to hard sometimes. I sent it back and got a brand new one a few days later. I love all of my kistlers but I am sure some people on here are about to run them down.
  8. What is everyones favorite baits/techniques for fishin heavy grass mats (hydrilla mats) I know the frog/toad/rat thing but any other ideas
  9. 10# p-line cxx all the way
  10. keep your line wet... 8-)
  11. Kistler makes a magnesium ts 7 foot heavy action "JIG-N-TOAD" rod that would be perfect
  12. Get an old spinnerbait cut a section of the wire off and it is the perfect size to push out old peg
  13. 1) knot protectio 2) a red bead gives fish something to key in on 3) noise if you aren't pegged
  14. where are g-blanks made at, i can't find any info about them
  15. go buy you a kistler and if you don't love it I will buy it from you.
  16. for the record... a kistler helium II ltx weighs in at 3.1 ounces so g-blanks are not lighter
  17. arkie brand i think wal mart sells them
  18. Senkos are junk and will not catch fish, stop using them and go buy you some brush hogs and t-rig em
  19. don't know about spine testing but do know they stand behind the rods because my brand new one came in yesterday. As far as the components I have never had an issue with them Kistler makes the best rods available IMO. They are no doubt the lightest and that does matter because a lighter rod is a more sensitive rod. So is1jay don't be bashing them just because you can't build a rod that light and get people to shell out $$$ money to you for them.
  20. Try you a kistler RW and you will to be converted to fishing with the best there is... I have had/used some of the other rods that are supposed to be the best there is and they don't hold a candle to kistlers, the ltx line of rods weigh in at an unbelievable 3 ounces you can't find that anywhere else, not to mention the sensitivity. Not going to keep bragging on them just get off your tail and go buy one and get ready to be hooked :)
  21. First off yes I do or have owned other premium rods (loomis, st. croix, diawa, shimano, etc.) and Kistlers are by FAR the lightest most sensitive rods I have ever fished with, sometimes I think I can feel fish breath on my bait. I currently own 7 of their rods ( 2 magnesium, 4 helium, 1 helium II ltx) and love every one of them. I would highly recommend them, they are alittle costly but I think they are worth every penny. I am in the process to converting scritly to kistler rods. The rod I broke was around 2 years old, it was a magnesium ts jig-n-toad rod 7 foot heavy action. I broke it on hookset while flipping a bed in 5 foot of water with a brush hog. It was around 3 pound fish I was using 20 pound p-line cxx. It broke about half way down the blank, good clean break. I contacted Trey which is the owner/founder of the kistler company and he assured me that he would take care of it and have by new rod on the way just as soon as he recieved the broken one and everything checked out. So we will see, I think he will stand by his word. But yes I think kistlers have some of the finest rods on the market today. The helium 2 ltx are the best but the helium lta are the same blank just deffirent guides and grips. The magnesium series are fine rods are under $200 most places they run $179. the lta run around $229 and the ltx are around $300. if someone wanted to try them out I would sugeest starting with the Helium LTA rod series, you can find good deals on them on e-bay sometimes but just pay attention because some rods on thier are reparied rods and have no warranty, but they are usualyy cheap so that might be agood way to try them too. Will keep posted as to what happens

What is up with all of ya'll liking senkos so much. Everyone talks about them like they are the best bait there is. I have and do catch fish on them but they don't seem to consistently catch big fish and that is what I look for in a bait. Something along the lines of pig-n-jigs, big worms, creature baits, buzzbait, dd22's, etc. Just wanted to know.
