  1. i would spend it on baits but that is just because my rod and reel situation needs no more additions at the moment.
  2. welcome
  3. im gonna have to disagree with you guys a little. I dont recommend the telescopic rods. I had a lot of experience with them because i used to frequently use them when i back packed deep into the montanian wilderness with my dad in search of trout. They are not durable, break easily, the guides break or chip easily, and after a year or so, the parts of the pole start to stick together when they come out. Do you know how FRUSTRATING it is when they do that. I cant imagine how frustrating that would be while wading in the middle of a flowing stream. Just my opinion on them, maybe we just got a few bad brands I suggest using snap swivels, their quick and dont negatively affect the action of baits w/ split rings.
  4. I read this the other day: If we flooded the great lakes completely it would cover all of America with an average of a 9 foot depth. That is deep enough to hold bass year round in most areas. So just think if we actually did that. Obviously its not realistic but just imagine somehow we did. Just imagine how cool that would be for a little while for us fisherman. You could bass fish ANYWHERE in america. Just imagine for a second where you live and go each day, under water with bass now living there instead of you. Sure it would eventually suck cause you would have to live on a bass boat, but its just something i thought about this winter while the lakes are frozen. :-/
  5. if they dont let you fish with bait bought at a store i highly doubt it legal to fish with live gills. instead try lipless cranks or swimbaits in bluegill colors.
  6. Just wondering, I know its not good to keep turning your trolling motor on and off, you want to keep it at a slow steady speed. But what if you are flipping or pitching cover and you only need to move your boat a little from time to time and dont want your trolling motor on. In this case would it be a good idea to use a paddle for those small adjustments, or would that spook the fish as much as turning on your trolling motor???
  7. im guessin that you are probably fishing those lures either in unproductive places or too fast. Do some research on techniques for all those lures you used. If all else fails, fish very slowly.
  8. I completely agree with you guys. This is also really the only sport where you can get in touch with nature without hurting it, but still have plenty of competitiveness.
  9. Welcome! i agree with Lowbudgethooker. Its really not safe to add a deck to that small of a johnboat. I also have a 10 footer and i rarely use it because i also have a canoe. I bought a motor mount for it and use it more because it is easier to haul around and quieter to the fish. Its also barely more unstable than the johnboat.
  10. I agree, jerkbaits arent good muddy water baits.
  11. I have a lot of baits/techniques that im just itchin to try and experiment with. my top 5 are: 1. The donkey rig 2. The wacky jig (see topic) 3. the craw experiment i talked about a few weeks ago in another thread, where i fish one plastic craw unmodified and another with one or two pincers cut off 4. I bought a bunch of grubs and i want to use them for lmb. 5. I am decent at lipless crankbaits right now but i want to become a master at them.
  12. Wow good idea, i need to try that.

basically the first reel should be used for mid sized lures and mid sized fish like bass and walleye. The second reel should hold bigger line and should be used for the really big fish like catfish or muskie. So if your after bass, get the first one.
  14. I couldnt agree more. Bombers in tennessee shad is a staple for me. I dont think color is as important as a lot of people think especially in cranks. I dont think the sexy shad color is really all that special and im not going to go out of my way to buy it.
  15. bombers are great for their lower cost. I cant come close to being able to afford LC.
  16. welcome! I cant wait to try the coffee tubes come march.
  17. welcome!
  18. just read an article about this new technique. Its when you take a straight tailed worm and wacky rig it with a jighead. Kotaro Kiriyama fishes and he thinks it will be an important new technique.

    welcome!
  20. I dont have any quirks. Maybe one might be that a retie a bunch, but that is just because i use really light line a lot.
  21. Welcome, your gonna like this site!
  22. x2. I also used one on a drop shot rig once and caught a couple of smallies.
  23. cool but, no spinning reels???
