  4. Yeah its a good finesse rod
  5. a slower reel has more wincing power to get fish out of heavy cover
  6. Using a fluro leader with braid doesnt work that well and will randomly break.
  7. Yeah I'll send it your way if you pay for the shipping and maybe a little extra for my effort
  8. I picked up 20 1125 yard spools of eagle claw line for 6.50 a while back and use this for backing
  9. Trilene fluorocarbon is great too. A little expensive but you get what you pay for
  10. Sam pretty much covered it except i would say if all else fails go finesse, light line and smaller baits and finesse them in.
  11. Yeah I agree grubs are awesome during the winter.
  12. try many different techniques and good luck
  13. the hardest hits would happen during the prespawn because the fish are fattening up for the spawn. The postpawn is typically the toughest fishing because the fish are worn out from the spawn, although you will get some hard hits from males guarding fry. Cwen, I am not sure if anybody on this site thinks that fish are uncatchable during the spawn. Some spawning fish will hit hard, depends on the fish. The males are almost always the aggressive ones but are coincidently much smaller.
  14. Agreed. X3 Yeah you gotta replace the crappy hooks that come on rattle traps, and those are a good option.
  15. It kinda depends, I'd say a 4/0 maybe. Just take a hook and put it next to the bait as it be inside the bait, and the hook should be exiting about a little over halfway across the bait. Of course their are other rigging options. You can buy special hooks and rig them texas style, and they have the weight on the bottom of the bait so it swims properly. I'm sure a lot of other members will have some more information than me I'm not an expert on basstrix/bass magic.
  16. right, line spray doesnt erase memory it just basically makes the line easier to cast
  17. This is a trick i do. I take a 1/8 ounce jighead and push it through the head, ripping up the head, then when the jighead is just how i want inside the lure i seal it up by taking a lighter to the head and closing the rip. Then the finished product looks like a storm swimbait.
  18. Huh? :-? I share your confusion Burley. Jigs are one of the best if not THE best bed fishing lure. It did take the largest bass ever caught, even if it was foul hooked.
  19. arbor knot, use some tape to help it stick if you need to.
  20. I got a spool of 14 lb iron silk in the mail for renewing my bassmaster membership. I didnt even ask for one just sent in the money and registration form and they sent me the spool with my February mag. Is it even worth using for one or two days and then scrapping, I dont want to waste it and just throw it away but i dont want to use horrible line. Should I use it?
