I just cant catch bass
Brush hogs are awesome. My go to bait I use a light weight texas rigged. I spray a little garlic spray on it and sling it to the bank and wiggle it into the water then a slow retrieve. green pumkin green my favorite. regulars for stained and Baby brush hogs for clear water.

Trolling motor prop question(uh oh!!)
Don't fret just yet. Should be easy enough I think Walmart carries replacements for it and it should include the nut, washer, pin, and prop. Should be under 20 bucks.

Aluminum Boat Question
If its a 14 foot you should be able to get away with up to a 15 hp. And decks but, word of caution build light or it will push like a barge. In the pic shows my front deck to do it over I would have cut it off about 2 ft behind the bass seat.

How do I test my batteries?
I grew up in a service station and what dad would have done would be to check the water charge the battery overnight then load test it. But also I didn't see anybody tell you to check the connections sometimes connections could fail. 24 volt motor won't do much with 12. proffessionals can have off days too.

Opinions.........help
I would keep the most reliable of the two. There is much to be said about getting on the water as opposed to mechanic blues on the weekend.

What Type of Boat do you fish with?
I know how you feel Log Mike. I just bought my bass boat and the operating costs went through the roof. Now I mechanic more than I fish If it wasn't for the option of bigger waters I believe I would have stuck with small craft.

Beginner Boat for Beginner Fisher
Wider is betterin boats for fishing. I suggest 48"or wider if larger lakes are to be on the agenda. Most V-bottoms can serve you well coupled with a trailer and good outboard. If you are going into inaccesable places you will want something smaller especially if you are launching by yourself. The bueaty of it is you can sell your boat and buy another later.

Outboard Trouble
The best advice I can give is to get a manual for the motor. You might be able to rig a toggle switch to it and get it to run that way. If you are not worried about your boat being "stock". sounds like the switch is backwards of a kill switch.

Outboard Question
It's wise to keep an extra set of plugs and a wrench to change where you can get to it. Its easy to get the plugs wet and they don't want to start. Check the plugs if they are wet thats the problem. If that helps keep the old ones for spare if they look good. Go with the cheapest first then look at the big money problems if cheap fails to fix. Wet plugs will dry and are still useable. Find the sweet spot on the throttle to start it on my evinrude 4.5 it is a little past run. Does your motor have an internal fuel tank? If it has an internal tank it should have a vented cap. If you forget to unscrew it your gas won't hit the carb right.

Speedometer problem

New to Bass fishing!
Trial and error. and it helps if you can find a buddy to go ishing with it will spark off competition and you can see what he tried and got with. It also helps to have a good reel with a drag that will help play the fish in.

Boat launch protocol?
I'm patient about this stuff but, if it come to lightning get out of my way. My wife goes with me at times and for me not to get into trouble she don't back the trailer and she don't operate the boat. keeps my head from getting knots on it. I always load and unload solo. Most folks are nice enough around here but, occasionally you run into for thereself people usually pleasure boaters that lack courtesy. I dock it and if they want to use the dock they will let me get my boat on the trailer. I think the most important thing I see is speed in getting off docks and ramps. Get it done do the minimum and get out of the way to do the rest. I don't stay in the way long and I hope others will do the same.

At the end of the day if you have enjoyed yourself that is the important thing. I've caught more fish off my cheap rig than my bass boat.
