  1. He is a strange looking fellow. ;D
  2. With age it ought to get better. I bought my son a bunch of Rooster tails the lightweights get a lot of action from Bluegill, crappie and bass. He used to be the reason I quit for the day, now I hafta drag him home.
  3. Liked the idea of the dynamite. Try spiking your plastics with garlic spray. I have had good success with it.
  4. Try Zoom Brush hogs and spray 'em with garlic spray. Works for me.
  5. If he is a stout lad the boat in the back of truck would work alright. I started with a 14 ft John boat in the back of my truck and it was strenuous at best. A 4wd truck would be ideal for that situation if he would be alone. Without the extra pulling wheels a person could end up in the lake with a truck. Its been my salvation a time or two. A trailer will put easy into getting it in the water and it can be transported "ready to fish". If he gets the love for fishing as I have his residence will be on the water. I almost get my mail there. ;D
  6. It's the greatest I spent .34 cents and fixed it myself when I could have spent hundreds and the dealer. Thanks so much. Got back on the water today and caught me one of these "little fish".
  7. Thanks way2 slow. You nailed it them flywheel was spun. got a new key and I'm back in business.
  8. I started out having a problem with Idle, she had good top end but, when I would try to idle or switch direction it would die. I mixed all of the gas at 50 to 1 ratio and on the last tank I added a half a can of sea foam to a full 12 gallons of fuel. It has always had a slight amount of smoke which tells me that oil is present in the mix. The mix is getting to the plugs because when I try to start it they get flooded. and with the front cover off the carbs I can see it coming out when I get off the choke. I have checked the plugs out of the motor and am getting spark in all four. I puled both carbs and cleaned but they were already impeccably clean.
  9. She's still pumping water and I mix the oil myself. Guess I just need to take the hit in the wallet and take it to a professional. :'(
  10. If you look around you can find a deal on a bigger boat. I have a boat I'm trying to sell right now for $650. Its a 14 foot starcraft v-bottom with a 4.5 horse evinrude and a 40lb thrust minn kota complete with trailer. Both motors are good, put the trailer tires on last year, upgraded it to bunk boards back in the spring.
  11. It will help getting one. They sell 'em at the basspro for the smaller motors. You'll hafta drill four holes and bolt it on. Sting Ray XP Junior cost you 50 bucks plus shipping.
  12. Could have been worse. could have sent the wife for the trailer. Mine still hasn't forgive me for that. ;D
  13. I have a 100 hp Evinrude the last time I ran it it died and I have yet to be able to resart it. Changed outthe plugs, pulled te carbs cleaned them, put new hoses on and still all it will do is backfire every now and then. I have checked the spark and it seems to have spark t the plugs. I am stumped. Does anyone have any ideas on what I can do next? :'(
  14. nice project Bass should be in trouble!
  15. I have a 97 bassmaster 15 foot bassboat. does anybody know how the charging systems are set up? is there an alternator? Should it charge the startig battery while underway? Just bought a phase charger from bps but, that may not help if it aint charging the crank battery. I am lost and need help. Thanks
  16. Thanks hpbb I'm going with another 500 gph pump and a new timer.
  17. Congrats on the new boat logan80. just bought mine as well. I like my pfleuger spinning reel on a berkley cherrywood m/h I've got half a dozen but it is my favorite. on lures I won't be without my zoom brush hogs, rapala dt-4's and vibric rooster tails. Good luck and catch some biggins
  18. I think people are the problem everybody is in too big of a hurry to get somewhere when they shoul d relaxing and enjoying themselves. This past weekend I got on the Ohio River pleasure boats worried me to death in my bassboat they seemed to get in the throttle ever so much more when they see someone fishing. Courtesy seems to have been lost to boating. I'm not sure how to fix the problem but, i know one thing fo sure when I go fishing I don't want the government involvement in my fishing. Normally I fish idle speed only lakes and I am happy doing so. I can fish and not hafta worry about being thrown overboard by a rogue wave.
  19. I have caught a lot of bass using a zebco reel on a medium heavy baitcasting rod. Plastic worms it is great because you can't move it very fast. I use a spinning reel now, but for getting the lure right where you want it thy are good. Really I would suggest to anybody learning to use plastic to start with a zebco and med heavy rod for hooksetting. then be a reel snob later.
  20. thanks badhabit I would truly be lost without nice folks like you.
  21. Anybody know what the spark plugs gap for in a 78 model 100 hp evinrude? thanks
