  1. Its too hot to fish when your sweating so much you cant tie a knot on your lure.
  2. Just wondering what some of your opinions are on the telivision shows out there. Who you think is the best, and who you think is full of crap and why... -James
  3. From one st louis angler to another. Welcome!
  4. Hello. Tried messaging you on yahoo, but no reply.. So I will reply here. I am only giving you tips from my sense and opinion... Lures: Boo-yah Spinnerbaits, Crankbaits, Heddon Torpedos, Zoom Bubblegum Plastic Worms, Rapala Minnows, Buzzbaits, Senko Worms, there are a ton of baits you can use, just a matter of preference. Rod: If you are fishing for bass, I wouldnt buy anything under a Medium. I use Ugly Sticks made my Shakespere(sp), but they get pricey. There are other rods out there, but again, its a matter of preference. Tips: I would pick up a book or a few magazeens(sp) and read up on it. Also there are dvd/vhs's out that you can buy at Bass Pro or other local places. Check your television lineup for Outdoor Life Network, and .VS channel. Both of those channels have alot of nice bass fishing shows, and you will learn alot from them. Good luck! James
  5. My first fish was a gill. How origional LMAO. -James
  6. Try a size smaller ring. I get mine at Home Depot. Not sure the brand name of the company, but there are so many out there I just grab what looks best. Good luck! -James
  7. Agreed... Some days are better than others. Just keep at it. Good luck. -James
  8. LMAO I am tempted to go out and do this now... Thats funny about the sunfish haha.
  9. Hello Everyone, Not sure if anyone has posted this or not yet. I have looked but couldnt find anything?.. So here it goes. Some of you may know this trick already... But what I just found out from my fishing buddy, is if you wacky rig a senko or any other type of plastic worm, you can use an o-ring.. Just get your hook, and put the o-ring around the plastic, and then put the hook between the ring and the worm, and slide it down to the middle part of the bend in the hook. Works really well for me, and saves alot of money and rips. To find the correct o-ring size, take your plastic(s) to a hardware store, and see what fits. It needs to be snug, and not loose. Good luck, and I hope I taught at least one person this trick. Thanks! -James

  13. I am very interested in raising a bluegill in an aquarium. I have a 10 gallon tank, with gravel and plants. Also I have a filter and a light. I dont need a heater because the water doesnt get cold. Just wondering if I caught a really small bluegill if I could raise it in my aquarium and what I would need to do to keep it alive and what to feed it. Thanks everyone. James
  14. LMFAO I love his face at 2 minutes and 15 seconds!!! Hahahah!
  15. Hey All! Looking to go out and catch more gills and crappie for a nice fish dinner some night. But I have a question.. I always seem to catch bluegills, but sometimes they dont have blue gills. I know there are other type of fish that are shaped like gills, and are part of the bluegill family, but are those good to eat too? Is there a certain fish shapped like a bluegill to watch out for or not to eat? Also what are good baits/lures to catch gills on this time of year. I am on the Missouri/Illinois boarder to give you an idea where I am. Please help! Thanks everyone.. James
  16. LOL. Nice batch of fish, very good! -James

  19. I lioke to use raw shrimp. Peel off the shell, and put it on a nice big catfish hook.. Tight line it on the bottom, and slowly drag it infront of a big catfish's nose... Good luck!
  20. Bright colored spinner baits? Those work well for me! Good luck!
  21. I dont think it does. I smoke an ocasional cigar or cigarillo when the skeetos are bad, doesnt seem to have an effect!
  22. Hey, glad your interested in Bass Fishing like me. I can help you out as much as I can. I know the moderators on here will give you a link or something, but I will try my best to help.. If I am wrong about something, hopefully someone else will correct it.. 1Q) What are some good Bass lures? 1A) Spinnerbaits, Buzzbaits, Plastic Worms/Grubs/Lizards/Frogs/Shads, Floating/Suspending Minnow, or anything that looks like something you will find where you fish. 2Q) What is a good reel when price doesnt matter? 2A) It depends if you want spinning reels, or baitcasting reels. If you havent used a baitcasting than I suggest starting off with a spinning rod, and practicing with a cheap baitcasting untill you get the hang of it... But back to your main question, Abu Garcia, Shakespear, Quantum, Phlueger, Shimano, Daiwa, and Zebco. I would stay away from Zebco, and stil with the rest. Just go to a fishing store, and see what feels right to you.. 3Q) What is a good reel on a budget? 3A) Like I said, any reel listed above. Go to a fishing store and try out the reels and see what you like in the price range.. 4Q) What is a good rod? 4A) Ugly sticks. Very good rod, can be pricey at times, but it is hard to damage them. Ugly Sticks are made by shakespear(sp).. Bass Pro has their name brand rods that are pretty nice. You want to look for one with 7-9+ guides/holes/eyes, for more precist casting and more support. 5Q) What is a good rod on a budget? 5A) Same as number 4. Ugly sticks. Get a Medium Heavy rod. 6Q) What is the best line to use? 6A) This is hard to say. I don't know if you mean brand or what strenght. I personally use Trilene 8lb blue. Works really well and really strong. But you can try many brands and types, its all up to you. 7Q) What is a leader? 7A) Not 100% positive on this one. I dont use them very much. Help guys. 8Q) How does one Carolina Rig? 8A) http://www.bassresource.com/beginner/Carolina_Texas_Rig.html 9Q) What temperture is cold to a Bass? 9A) Anything below 75 celcious. I'm not saying you cant catch one below 75, but its hard to unless your fishing a priate pond that hasn't been fished very much, also called "Fishing Under Pressure". 10Q) What temperture is hot to a Bass? 10A) I am not sure about this one either. My guess would be anything above 100 celcious. Help guys. 11Q) What are good lures to Bass Fish at night? 11A) Well, I havent fished much at night. I would use live bait, or something REALLY bright colored. At night I use a Linder Light Up Bobber, with a big live nightcrawler on a big hook. Works well at night. I hope this helped. But if anyone finds any of my information wrong, or misleading, PLEASE correct me. I am not a professional. Go catch a monster bass. -James 8-)
  23. My worst would be sticking my hand in a pike's mouth. Bad idea. :'(
