Buzzbait Color?
I went back today and used my confidence buzzbait, the Booyah Buzz in White/Char. Shad and had strike after strike. While they were hitting I tried other colors such as black on black with one or two small strike. I went to the Cavitron in Ghost and had a few strikes but none of them performed like the Booyah Buzz. I was catching fish on the Buzzbait until around 10am, it was mid 90's and mostly sunny and they were still nailing the buzzbait.

Spot Remover
Me and my partner uses Zoom Finesse, Berkley Hand Pour Finesse and Zoom Baby Brush Hogs on the Spot Remover Pro and we have had spots up to 4 lbs and largemouth up to 5.5 lbs. We primarily fish them on the river banks with a lot of cover with a depth range of 10-15ft. I have noticed this, where we fish is above the dam, when the water is calm the bite is slow and when they start pulling water the bite heats ups like crazy on the Spot Remover Pro. The only thing I do not like is the slow fishing of this technique, I like to fish at a moderate speed. I think that's the biggest thing of fishing the Spot Removers is being patient and knowing when to bump it.

Buzzbait Color?
I have been told for years that buzzbait colors do not make a difference and that it's all about the blades and action it makes. I do believe the blades and action are real important however I do think the color is to. I believe the color is as important and the blade action. I was fishing on the lake I mentioned a few post back and I used the Black Buzzbait and caught one fish on it all evening. My buddies were fishing the same lake in the same area fishing the same structure I was fishing and they had about 10, 1 of which was 4.5 lbs. He was using a Chart. buzzbait where I was using a Black buzzbait. The water is mostly stained and varies in depth but where we were fishing was 3-5 ft. I have always heard, clear water use white, chart/white and shad colors and in stained or muddy/stained use dark colors. I think in stained or muddy water bright colors work best because they can see them better. I like Black and Browns in clear water because it helps them see better. Comments? Thoughts?

Evolution Jigs
Do you have a image of the Hoochie Craws? I'd like to see those, they sound nice.

Evolution Jigs
I am a huge fan if jig fishing and have just been introduced to the Evolution Jigs. I have heard great things about them and am about to purchase a few. I primarily throw flippin' jigs so I will get the heavy cover jigs in all three sizes however which colors are best recommended other than Black/Blue? Thanks!

first boat, 25hp johnson now on and runnign!
Well, I'm not sure how other states do it, most are going to require an inspection of the homemade boat however being that it's under 16ft I'm not sure. This can be easy but in some cases it can be pure hell because of the questions and blah blah.

first boat, 25hp johnson now on and runnign!
I would not put anything over a 25hp on it because too much hp can be very bad. (Learned the hard way) LOL! I would ask to run it first, see how it sounds, check for leaks, weak compression, the common stuff. The lower unit is fairly basic, if there are no oil leaks, find out when the last time the oil was changed in the lower unit. Before running it, ask and make sure the water pump is working because it can overheat if it's not. What year model is it?

No, you would have to go thru the courthouse and then they would get curious so the best thing I would recommend if you're going to put it public waters, remove any numbers and tell them you built it from scratch and register it that way.

And he sold it to you for $28? ;D What bothers me is the tag it has on it already (FL-55-8FN), when you register it they will ask if it has ever been registered before and because it has a tag on it already it probably has. To change it into your name you will have to show a bill of sale which would be hard to get so it's a tough situation. The only way really is to say you built it and make up a serial and register it that way.

You did an awesome job on the deck and carpeting, I need to do mine like that. With all of the weight, I would suggest at least a 15hp but no more than a 25hp. I have a Johnson 25hp Short Shaft and it works great, mine is only rated for a 15hp but I take the chance because very seldom do they check that here in Alabama. If you live close to an Academy Sports I would suggest this trailer, I bought this with my boat and it's a good trailer for these boats. MCCLAIN 14-FT. JON BOAT TRAILER

Mattlures Baby Bass Series
Just ordered me a few of these in "Largemouth Bass" and am curious as to where to use them and how to fish them properly. I assume you fish them like any other swimbait? Anyone tried them on deep river banks with lots of timber? The river I fish primarily has deep banks with timber all over and under the water. There are many creek mouths with 25 ft+ drop offs, wonder if this can get deep enough?

New boat question/problem
Well I talked to my lawyer today that they were coming to "fix" the boats not replace them and he told me wait and see what they do Friday and we'll go from there. I paid for a new boat and a new boat is what I will get. I'll get it the easy way or hard way.

I have the same boat, mine is an Alumacraft 14ft with a plywood floor and deck that I put in myself. With me, gear, motor, floor and deck, trolling motor, two batteries and one other person the 15hp max rating wouldn't cut it anymore so I had to go with a 25hp Johnson. When my boat was empty that 15hp would shove it great but with the floor, deck and bow mount trolling motor with 2 batteries and two adults the 15hp just couldn't handle the weight.

How would you remove?
Actually this happened to me during my last tourny, I was removing the hook and the fish started jumping around and I couldn't hold the fish tight enough and she sank a triple grip into the top of my middle finger. It was early so doctor was out of the question, I had to use my needle nose pliers and yank it out. It hurt like you can guess what and it bled for a few minutes but it heeled up.

What lures are best for...
Some member's aren't too fond of things like that. :-X Normally I do not keep anything but I took a friend and I let him keep a few. It's more less a private lake so it's all good. Not to mention anything over 2-3 lbs. goes back, only can keep fish under 2 lbs.

What lures are best for...
Well, it was an overall good day. VERY HOT but good day. I started out with a Cavitron Buzzbait in Chart/White and only got one keeper. I switched to a 3/8 oz. Chart/White Spinnerbait and caught several keepers. I also caught a 1 lb 3 oz. Crappie on the same spinnerbait, it was fun. Once the spinnerbait died I threw a crankbait with no success so I picked up my good old Red Shad worm. I caught more keepers with the Red Shad worm and ended the day still using the worm. I will add that there was a big cypress tree that had fell into the water and I flipped a Netbait Paca Craw into the top and hooked a fine 4+ lber, I fought her about 3 mins and when I got her close to the boat she wrapped it and the line snapped. I was so mad but it happens. We brought 13 bass and my one nice crappie to the house, we're having fish tonight! ;D

New boat question/problem
No, my boat had to be ordered, once it got here it was rigged up and called ready to go. I wanted to water test it before buying it but the dealer is about 20-30 miles from the river. My next boat, you better believe I will water test it before buying it.

Mann's Hardnose Snake
Does anyone use the Mann's Hardnose Snake 10"? If so, does it work well still for bigger fish? How do you properly rig this and what hook do you use? THanks!

New boat question/problem
Have you heard anything from the dealer about this because they have not mentioned a thing to me about this so I'm curious about what's going on with them and Triton. Let me know if you hear anything else and I'll do the same.

What lures are best for...
I'm fishing a local lake tommorrow, it's about 40 acres with an average depth of 9-10 ft. It has cypress trees all over the place. The lake has cypress trees in the middle of the lake and down the banks. The deepest place I found trolling was 10.2 ft. and this was a small drop off. There a lot of fish in this old lake but I've been told it's hard to catch them. Attached is an aerial view of the lake, you can see the cypress trees. It's not very deep but there a lots of fish in it, it's on the river but doesn't connect to it, the river does get into this lake when it floods. Any suggestions on what to use?

Questions about the Fat Ika
Just ordered me some of these and going to use them once I get them. Just a few questions about fishing them. I'll be using a 7' Berkely Cherrywood Medium Casting Rod, Abu Garcia 4600 C3 Reel with Trilene 14lb tmonofilament line on a 4/0 Gamakatsu EWG Offset Worm Hook. This ok? My first question is, when is the best time to fish this bait? My second question is, where is the best place to fish it? Does it work good on deep riverbanks with a ton of cover and structure? We have a deep river but in places there are 10-15ft humps in the middle of the river, is this an ideal place for the Fat Ika? I saw RW post don't fish this over 12ft., is there a reason for this or is it better in shallow water?

New boat question/problem
I agree, I don't want a "patched" boat, I paid for a new boat and that's what I will get or else we'll get it the hard way. This will be the last Triton I ever buy, my next boat will be a Blazer or Ranger and it's not really the dealer, it's Triton. They're supposed to be one of the best however I haven't seen them do anything right to this point. It's like they don't want to confess they made a mistake and do something about it.

Power Hawg vs. Brush Hog
I fish the Baby Brush Hogs T-rigged with a 3/16 weight in creek mouths and drop offs. I cast out, let it sink and wait about a 30 seconds. I reel it in slowly while twitching it a little (rod about 2 o'clock) and have caught numerious bass this way. For bigger fish, I use the baby brush hogs t-rigged with a 3/8 weight on deep drop offs and humps. I'll fish it the same way just a lot deeper. I have caught many 4+ lbers fishing like this. The colors are Watermelon Red, Watermelon Candy and Green Pumpkin.
