I've been fishing both the Berkley Power Hawg and the Zoom Brush Hog.   Zoom definately has the better color selection but I've always like Berkley's scents.  I haven't decided which tears up easier yet.  I do like Berkley's unattached legs better than Zooms which is attached on both ends.  The Berkley's pinchers (I guess is what you call them) also seem to flare a bit more than Zoom's.

I ran out of green pumpkin Hawgs last weekend.  The only thing I had similar (in movement, size, and color) were the Gambler Loco Lizards in green pumpkin.  I had four fish pick that up and spit it out before I could get a good hookset.  I'm guessing they didn't like the scent.

All of that just has me looking for opinions - specifically on the difference in scent between the Zoom and Berkley versions.

I have been using the Baby Brush Hogs for years and have caught many fish on them. I love Watermedlon Red, Watermelon Candy and Green Pumpkin. I use these T-rigged and will wear them out on good days.

The stay together longer than other baits I have tried however I haven't ever tried the Power Hawg, I can't put down my baby brush ogs long enough, lol.

how do you guys fish the baby brush hogs? i haven't had any luck with them but i guess i haven't really given them a chance.

T-rig them with as little weight as possible.  Great flipping and pitching bait if your into that.  Start with the babies so you don't lose confidence that your bait is too big.  If you haven't caught fish with these you haven't given them a fair shake or you've fished them when they just weren't biting.

I am partial to the Baby Brushhogs. I c-rig, Texas rig, and pitch them.

I fish the Baby Brush Hogs T-rigged with a 3/16 weight in creek mouths and drop offs. I cast out, let it sink and wait about a 30 seconds. I reel it in slowly while twitching it a little (rod about 2 o'clock) and have caught numerious bass this way.

For bigger fish, I use the baby brush hogs t-rigged with a 3/8 weight on deep drop offs and humps. I'll fish it the same way just a lot deeper. I have caught many 4+ lbers fishing like this. The colors are Watermelon Red, Watermelon Candy and Green Pumpkin.

I have only fished the Power Hawg a few times and haven't had a hit on it. I have fished the Zoom Baby Brush Hog a good amount of times and I catch fish on it, so Im going to say I like the baby brush hog better, although maybe its just a confidence thing.

As for scent, this is not an issue for me, as I can simply add scent to my baits with Megastrike, although I do like powerbaits scent and I believe it even works better then Megastrike, I rather have the better action which is imo the baby brush hog, and I can add the Megastrike just for a scent appeal in general.

I rarely drag mine.  Usually  pitch them, hop em a couple a times and reel in.

Regardless of which type of plastic (hog, worm, etc) - which seems to hold up better, Zoom or Berkley?

Berkley's plastics also have a much stronger scent where as Zoom's main appeal is salt.   Anybody think either makes a huge difference?

They are both pretty soft baits that tear semi-easily.  I would say they both hold up about the same, really.

The fish may hold onto a Berkley bait a little longer but not that much longer.  From my experiences, I would say the scent doesn't make that much of a difference.

what size hooks do u guys use for the brushhogs? i got some baby brush hogs that im dieing to use and not sure if i got the right hooks. and anyone use the red hooks with them. sorry to hijack haha

4/0, 5/0 EWGs for me.....I like bigger hooks.

Didn't really know how to describe it but I was talking about the "legs" towards the nose of the bait.  The thin, round, "U" shape attached to the main body - not the end of the bait where the twin tails are.

Berkley's have three single legs on each side.  They are both very similar on the end (twin tail)
