22lbs 7oz reported from Dixon Ca
Hmmm...I look forward to the the guys who caught it to make a public statement. I am going to be trusting of the story until proven not to be true, but no matter what, officially the world record is STILL what it has been for 70+ years.

Catching Big Bass
The old guy that was the "trophy hunter" back home when growing up always told me the same as RW and others have agreed with in their posts... he swore nearly all of his trophy bass were caught near mid-day and deep.

I am not compassionate about the argument, but I tend to be with George and his view on this subject.

New lean seat suggestions?
Thanks for the detailed posts, hoping to have something to save the ol' back here in the next few weeks.

BassMaster Mag. - Day on the Lake.
This is not answering the question, but like Avid, that is the first article I go to every month to read. I hope to goodness they keep it constant in the magazine.

New lean seat suggestions?
I am being stubborn on this one and posting this to get it back up top... ...hoping someone can give some detailed info. My back keeps telling me I need a lean seat.

best tip ever?
Enjoying the thread. This isn't something that has been shared to me, but something I have been trying the past couple of years. Whenever I go somewhere that I know I will catch fish (example, a local stone quarry that is loaded), I only take a small tackle box full of lures/baits I have little confidence in...this FORCES me to use my least favorite baits, have a good chance for success, and build confidence in new stuff that make me more versatile and that I may NEED to fish to put them in the boat down the road.

fish on the wall
Interesting thread, tough call. Hopefully in a couple of weeks I will have to make the decision. I posted this somewhere before, but I have a mission to get a mount, and last spring I caught one at 27", didn't get a girth, have three pictures, and kinda wish now I would have had it mounted, or at least a replica. All of the mounts I have seen, the replicas do NOT look like the real deal skin mounts...still said, I am leaning replica and LOTS of pics when that great day finally comes.

T-storms and bass fishing
Right with senko and avid...the barometer and oncoming storm makes for a heck of a ride in a short time. THEN, take a fast ride to the ramp and trailer.

Cover vs. Structure
I hear these things alot from other anglers on the lake. I think the terms are starting to be used interchangeably by most people. Or at least untill they really get educated. I don't make a big deal about it. It's just talkin the talk *laugh* Ditto...."silence hides ignorance". I follow those words often.

bad hook-up ratio using 4 inch tubes
My friend Cedar1 and I lost a lot of fish on tubes last year and that day he told me believed why, and I think he was right. We kept missing, but I think he was on the money that when we went to set the hook, the tube was slipping and covering the point of the hook. The advice given and taken later was to glue the top of the tube to the hook to help prevent slip when you went to set it. Seems to work, and you may want to give it a try, because the problem may not be the hook itself.

spawning temp?
I think some can give you 'ideal' temps, but there are too many variables. (where, what exact part of the lake, moon phase, temp steady without ANY drop for a long period of time, etc, etc.). Probably thinking first warming trend in the spring, in N. GA, the water temps are near or over 60, nearest the full moon phase that time of the spring, and then there is a good chance you have a good number of bass spawning somewhere in the waters you are fishing.

New lean seat suggestions?
Cajun, That is the same problem I had with BPS...the catalog for one. But last year when about to purchase the seats, I could not get ONE of the employees to tell me exactly what I needed, and they did not have the length I assumed I would need. Hopefully someone on here can lead us in the right direction.

Can't catch any fish!
Nice boat....keep your chin up, that sucker needs used. I agree with all that is posted above this one, as all the guys are helpful with their information. A lot of my fishing was learned by finding people who would tell me exactly where to go, exactly what to do, and the best times to do it. Fishing ponds can be much different than fishing lakes, especially this time of year. Ask specific questions on here, especially the "fishing locations" board for your area, go to a local bait & tackle and start hanging out, meet people, and ask questions...make friends there. It won't be long until you may be the guy in the tackle shop offering info and giving us all tips on this site. Beware...you will soon be an ADDICT.

New lean seat suggestions?
Hey, for the past two years I have wanted to buy the lean seats made by Wise. Actually had them in hand once at BPS. They are the bicycle seat with the 'cut' crescent in the back for leaning, and pretty certain they come standard with Triton boats. My '97 Stratos has shorter poles with chairbacks, anyone have specific suggests of the length of poles needed for the lean-seats for someone about 5'9 (yep, short)? I am guessing approximately 36", but if anyone has done what I am talking about I would appreciate the input. Thanks.

How to take pics. of your new baits

Cheaters!!!
Hmmm...nothing worse than STUPID cheats. A jug??? My goodness. Agree with what a lot have already stated...next time leave it be and contact the authorities immediately, it is so much better to let those be caught by the law red-handed.

Instinct or Science?
Enjoyable thread to ponder. I would not consider myself an elite angler, in fact not even close, but like to believe I am better than the weekend warrior. I think I have become better with more time on the water that has used reflection upon things I have read/watched/ or studied that would probably be categorized as "scientific", but most of the times I would say instincts play a major part when I have a good day when reflecting back to basics I was taught as a kid by my grandfather and my buddy's grandfather. I would favor instincts over science most definitely.

Get an "Amen" to CABIN FEVER?
Mudpuppy, my man, sorry...no sympathy. Bass boats have SEATS. But, it is good to see all of these replies to this post....because as you know, misery loves company.

Get an "Amen" to CABIN FEVER?
My goodness...it is killing me! I have full fledged cabin fever, and right now there is not a thing I can do about it. The past two weeks here in gorgeous NE Ohio (I GOTTA get back south) have been the coldest of the winter. Me and Cedar1 have a tourney April 9th, and I am fearing at the time we are going to be vertical jigging throught a small hole for bites. Any other poor good ol' boys stuck too far north that are about to pull there fingernails out (and if she isn't lucky, my wife's too) in about the next any minute??? Amen? By the way, you don't have to be a good ol' boy to say 'Amen'.
