  1. Ohio has it, for every fish. It goes by length mostly i believe. You have to have it recorded at a certified place and send the picture in. You then get a pin. Get every pin and get another pin for getting every pin.. lol
  2. Just wanting some ideas on what everyone would throw in order to pull these bass out of 15-20ft of water with placed pine trees as cover. The surface temp is 58-60degrees with stained water. The weather will be a cold front pushing threw, No rain but colder weather. What would you throw, and how would you fish that lure?
  3. : : : HAHAHAHA!! 2134635446534 trips later and about 5646431324 tanks of gas.. ;D if you spent anytime on the water you would realize that one rock can hold bass....laugh all you want...keep laughing when your donating your money in tournaments to guys that build their own piles...of rocks, piles, or brush : if You have 2 cheat and build your own cover in secret little spots to TRY and beat me your not good. but the way you said that makes me think you have done it. Learn to fish the lake the way it was made. it dont matter to me id still out fish your little rock piles 4-1. WITHOUT MAKING MY OWN SPOTS!!! :'( :'(

  5. ;) ;) A lot of other conditions apply when picking a bait. Temp., Weather, etc... But in Ohio where ill be going tomorrow to pre fish. The water will be stained, with a surface temp of around 65. Ill hit the shallows to start(see if the females are on the nests yet) or if im catching dink males ill move to some deeper water. Ill be throwing Chatter baits and Poppers in the A.M. with the Cranks, and spinners to follow. Most likely Darker colors but have had some luck on Bright blue/Green in these conditions. Well see what works, Ill post back tomorrow.
  6. For sure, I'm not saying i would throw a dying bass back. I'm saying for tournament sakes. If its a lunker, im not going to eat it if i can stop the bleeding and everything seems to be okay. They are hard to come by here in Ohio.
  7. We own 3 Different Ponds, man made. the largest is Mainly stocked with bass the other 2 with bluegill and cats. What we did was drop roughly 280 Pine trees combined. In about 4 different sections in the bass pond. After 2 Years we noticed a lot of fish hanging around them so we added 2 more spots. We now constantly Catch and Release 3-8lbers. Which is quite large for Ohio to catch constantly. Its always a great day fishing at them and use it as a "Confidence boost" after a bad day at the lake .. Anything that doesn't Pollute would be a great idea. Just make sure you want it there for sure, cause once they are there they are near impossible to remove.
  8. So your saying because its cold blooded this wouldnt work? What if being a tourney fisherman you lose the catch and release stuff? would you use this on a lunker?
  9. One of my elders told me about it. I figured if the fish is bleeding that bad it couldnt hurt? Just wanted to get some opinions..
  10. Ok, so lets say u get aa deep hookset and got yourself a bleeder. Now their are products out their u can rub on etc.. What if you dont have them or are out? Has anyone ever heared of or tried 7up/Sprite? The citric acid is supposed to clot the bleeding. Has anyone ever done this? Could it hurt the fish more than it is already? JJ
  11. if your catching that many dinks it sounds like you have an over population. Now i care fo every fish i catch and try my hardest to make sure they survive. Dont get to down on urself, because it happens. As the above post said another fish will eat it. Just make sure you do what you can to save the ones you can! JJ
  12. I know, I never get to have this much fun. ;D i knew i was good for something...
  13. Im the president of OUE's fishing Club in Ohio we will be on there in a few months once we can locate a proper club advisor.
  14. Just when I thought you had taken Burley's advice...boom....another challenge.... Listen, Im not trying to be a jerk... Maybe its because i got stuck working and couldn't fish today, or maybe its nerves for Thursdays tourney i need to pre fish for, Maybe its work, or maybe its school.. Maybe its a mixture of it all.. Im sorry to all. Congratulations yo have defeated me.. I shall add that to my loss record.. BTW what place did i get 2nd? 3rd? 4th? Im just kidding don't get mad fellas.
  15. Exactly. My point. I don't mind people posting the answers to others questions here. But if i don't ask you a question or for advice i do not want advice from you.
  16. Also, i have giving you my credentials, and why you should take your advice from me. I live and i learn EVERYDAY just like you guys. I have devoted every second, of almost every hour to fishing and will continue to do so until im on top one day. As for Bragging there it was probably out of line, but i think you guys thought i was a 12yr old or something pulling some BS out of my pants. I know alot of information on LMB and would love to share it with everyone. If some of you older fellows are willing to listen to a younger fellow maybe we both can learn something from it. This thread has gotten me angry, everyone keeps saying the same thing. Say something different and STANDOUT. Its like bass fishing u cant win every tournament on 1 lure...
  17. FBL, they aren't FLW tour or BASS fed tourneys. I wont be fishing those until 2010 Those are tourneys across the state and through my 17 yrs of fishing i won my first tourney at age 4. Also, if you live in eastern Ohio and fish you probably would of heard my name somewhere i was in all the local papers etc.. watch for me on the College FLW in 2010 I would of been there this year but i couldn't get the club going at my local college. Kill this thread..No one can take a teenager serious, because naturally the elders know best 100% of the time.
  18. I have two question for only the posters above. Why should i take advice from you? What have you done with your fishing career? After all the posts, I have those 2 questions to ask you guys. I have competed in 100's of tournaments in my lifetime so far with 100's more to follow. I have 43 first place finishes, approx 21 second places finishes, and approx 39 3rds, with countless 4ths and 5ths. there has only been 8 tournaments i have placed worse than 6th. I hold 2 different lake records, and 3 club records. Which i have broken my own more than once. I won the Bass masters kids casting local, regional tournament and got 3rd at nationals. Im competing in the College Flw in 2010.. along with a few other opens and club tourneys. So above is what i have done with 17yrs of knowledge what have some of you done with 30-40???¿¿¿
  19. 2 things. First I like 2 tighten my spool so i dont have 2 thumb it all the way. This way you should only have 2 stop it when it hits the water. This will allow you to take your mind off of the casting itself and be more conectrated on the landing spot. 2nd.. PRATICE!!! setup a target and PRATICE until you can hit that target everytime without birdsnesting or missing. you must be comfortable with your casting in order to make good casts consistanly in those heavily brushed areas. Hope this helps! JJ
  20. Nate, NOW is the perfect time to get him started i started when i was 2 and was winning my age group tourneys when i was 4. Take him to the lake and get him a bobber and meal/wax worms and let him catch bluegill! Make sure to pick a nice day when you think a lot of fish will hit. It will make it more enjoyable for both of you. Once he is old enough work on his casting techniques of different rods. Set him up a target and see how close he can get. Bass Masters Kids Casting Tournaments is a good thing to compete in for accurate casters. Also get him a reel(no line) and let him reel it in the house or whatever so he gets used to holding it and reeling it. That is what we are working on now with my niece(spinning reel) and she is 2.5yrs old(plus it should keep him entertained for a while! Hope this help! JJ
  21. i throw top water in the spring and fall mostly. Once the water temp hits 57-60 degrees ill start mixing it in with cranks. Once they are in full spawn at 65ish ill really hit the shallows with top water baits. In the summer they tend to progress to a little deeper water to escape the hot surface temps and i tend to fall back to my jerks and cranks looking for underwater cover and ledges. JJ
  22. It is possible.. But.. You would have to keep it clean as the bass smell pretty bad otherwise. ALSO the food situation is rough. I believe if i can remember right a LMB needs its body weight in food a day to survive. So a 1lb bass would need 1lb of food a day. If you want it to grow it needs almost triple its body weight a day so a 1lb bass would have to have at least 3lbs of food per day. I cant quite remember but im sure if you do a lil reading on the internet you will find the exact amounts of food. JJ ;D
  23. Not sure where you are located.. But if you can find the water temps in the range of 57-64 i would throw a Crank bait. I was in a tourney last weeks and the water temp was consistently 61 degrees. I threw cranks all day landed my limit and got 4th. I was using a 8-12Ft dark colored crank. But casting right up on the shore. keeping it right on the bottom. They would either hit it right away and i would catch the prespawn males or about 15yards off the bank i would catch the fat females. Catch A HOG!! JJ
  24. LMB, Spawn in the spring(of course but it is not the only time)... Water temperature is the main key factor in spawning bass. It not only determines when they spawn it also will determine at what depth they spawn at. In Ohio LMB start to per spawn at around 60-63Dergrees F. Give or take a degree or 2. The full spawn isn't really going on until the water temperature is 64-69Degrees (again give or take a few). You will find them mostly in the shallows but some larger bass in clear lakes will spawn at pretty deep depths. 10-20ft. and usually earlier then the rest of the other smaller LMB(again depending on temp.).. Most of the times you will find the nests at 1-6ft. Hope this Helps! JJ
  25. Ohio River... Well thought we had it won honestly, fish weren't biting all that well for anyone. 1st place: 4 fish and big fish(5.2lb smallie) total weight (9.86lbs) 2nd: 5 fish total: 9.69lbs 3rd: 5 fish total: 9.47 4th(us) 5 fish all LMB total: 9.26 So close but no cigar.... Will have pics next time woke up late and forgot the camera in the morning rush
