  1. I know this may sound wierd but...Is any standing on their custom deck or do you lean on the pedestal seat? I just wondering how stable a 1436 is going to be... i.e. will i need to lean on the pedestal or can I just stand on it? I don't want to constantly end up in the drink.
  2. I have the opportunity to get one of two boats. They are both 14 feet long. One is a flat bottom with a 36 in transom and the other is a semi-v (not a mod v) that has a 44 inch transom. I am mainly going to be fishing smaller lakes and want to put a deck on it. Which one does everyone suggest?
  3. Went crappie fishing again last night. Couldn't keep the bass off my wacky worm. They kept hitting it before the crappie could. Happened 9 times!
  4. Just went "Crappie" fishing on Muskegon Lake. The only thing that bit was two 3.5 lb smallies and four 2+ lb Largemouth oh yeah... a few rockos too. I was so disappointed!
  5. Good point. The picture that I used does not appear to have the copyright logo on it anywhere. Thanks for the heads up though. I will be more careful in the future.
  6. I hit Battjes Park last Sunday... all I got was three snags that broke me off. That ended up being three tungsten drop shots weights and two hooks. I was dropshotting extremely slow. I actually took about 15 minutes to reel one cast in. It was so painfully slow that I couldn't believe it.
  7. I am using American Tackle Rod Finish. I just tinted the finish. I followed a technique similar to what is explained http://www.rod-crafting.com/articles/marbling-help.html For the tree I made waterslide decals of an image i found on the internet.
  8. Just finished up my first rod for a customer. They wanted a Grateful Dead themed split grip rod with the Grateful Dead Tree of Life. Here's what I came up with. What do you think?
  9. Thanks. I guess I will have to pick up a rodbuilder mag or two now.
  10. Jealous... I am so jealous!
  11. I normally use rod finish from American Tackle or Flex Coat.
  12. I would be cautious of that because you don't want to heat the epoxy holding the graphite fibers together... i.e. damage the rod itself. With a heat gun you heat it up a little and then scrap it and then heat a little more and scrap. In other words... you can control the heat a little more than with a butane torch. Just my opnion though... I have never been good with a butane torch.
  13. Those are awesome! How did you make them?
  14. My Pro Qualifier must be from a different year then because the reel seat looks different when I unscrew it. Thanks.
  15. That looks great... you should sell them on eBay. I'd buy one!
  16. I love the articles on his site. He really simplifies spilitting a grip and makes it easy!
  17. Do a google search on George's Custom Rods and look for the article on how to split your grip.
  18. How did you build up the angle? That looks awesome!
  19. Nice. How did you cut the reel seet down?
