  1. whats special about sexy shad? i was lookin at strike king red eyes, and the sexy shad color looks retarded on them. it looks good on the pro model cranks though. i also noticed that it was only in stock on the red eyes (basspro).
  2. was just checkin out those novelty fishin lures and this one looks like it will actually work! http://www.luresandstuff.com/catalog/item/381057/101228.htm
  3. countless bluegills and golden shiners on canned corn (makes excellent bait...a whole can will last you many outings) Ive also caught unbelevable amounts of bluegills and golden shiner on bread and this homemade dough i made. and i catch golden shiners and bluegills on simple chuncks of white rubber from torn up plastics (they think its bread, so they just demolish it)
  4. thats cool! like to see other people havin a good time
  5. tee hee hee....piglet ;D nice job paul and mike! i might just have to bust out the ole strike king bitsy bug come spring
  6. wow dont i feel like an oddball...me n my dad use 7" YUM dingers w/ 2/0 gammy ewg's lol! what we do is a little trick...when youre threading the worm on the hook to texas rig it, you usually thread it on a quarter inch or so then come out, turn it around, and pierce it again......well.......thread the hook about halfway down the entire worm, ten come out and proceed like normal. that way you are able to use a lighter hook and still have the hook in the midle of the bait for better hook ups.
  7. bluegills target the smaller stuff...mayflies, ants, beetles, juvinile hoppers, damsel flies. bass get the big stuff...dragonflies, locusts, adult hoppers. their favorite summertime topwater snak is a dragonfly...thats coming from a fly fisherman
  8. heres a nice little (2.5 to 3 inches roughly) bluegill lure: hand tied by yours truly put this sucker on a small dropshot rig. then move the weight to the edge of the bed on taught line......ease the rod tip down so the bluegill slowly goes nose first into the bed....the bass is eye'n it now...twitch it....pull it out of the bed and repeat. bass should smack this bait.
  9. ive got a unique one: i caught a bluegill on a LOOGI!!! i hacked a loogi on the hook and plopped it in the water and about fifty million bluegills came and 3 of em tried to swipe it. one got hooked pretty gross huh? those bluegills are like the pirahanna watch guards of the community park.....anything enters the water a minimum of 10 come to investigate.
  10. wow just the spool costs 200 dollars. that is one expensive reel!
  11. well its just like any other swimbait...its got dual trebel hooks, so if you fish it in heavy cover then you best be careful. as for murky water, if you are fishing it where the fish are, then it shouldnt be a problem. its got double body joints so it will make quite a bit of commotion.
  12. get your self a pack of 7" "blue Fleck" berkley power worms, and a pack of 4" "june bug" YUM dingers and a pack of 2/0 gamakatsu offset EWG hooks and your set!
  13. a floating rapala is a nice twitch bait...lip included ;D at the moment, nothing comes to mind.....but i know i must have done something pretty stupid to a lure. wait i got one...i had a strike king crankbait and the d**n thing wouldnt run straight to save its life. well i tried tuning it so much taht the little eye piece broke off. lol.
  14. river2sea's v-joint minnow has that shape to it.
  15. i dont like mine. tough has hell....i abuse it very much...but it lacks backbone (amount of stiffness...need it to set the hook good) and it also lacks very much in sensitivity. that whole clear tip design is phoney, it doesnt add anything for sensativity. not a good rod to buy. if youre looking for a rod in that pricerange, go with the berkley lightnin rod. alot more backbone, and a noticible amount of sensativity (i like my lightnin rod)
  16. looks like yall had a great day. that is a massive perch! good job guys!
  17. paul, it looks like you were using a fluke type bait....whenver i use UL tackle on bass w/ single hook soft baits, i sometimes cant get a hookset on them. half the time i do hook and land them (ton of fun...makes a 15"er feel like a 20"er), but alot of times there just isnt enough backbone in an UL rod to set the hook. How do you do it? do you need to let them have the bait a little longer or what? thanks!
  18. LPT is my favorite scent. i need a bottle of that stuff man.
  19. try to give her something shes never seen before. look closely at what others are fishing, and fish the total opposite of that. if they dredge the bottom w/ jigs non stop, then try a crankbait or vice versa. if everyone is throwing spinnerbaits, then try using a crankbait, or even a finesse tactic....just whatever you do try to be unique. maybe you could use a common lure but use it in a different way....use your imagination...just try everything.
  20. ive said it before and i'll say it again...PAUL YOU DA MAN!!!! i love reading your posts. they are so exciting. i also like how you can just say "oh i think i'll go catch a lunker today" and then you actually do! keep em comin' man!
  21. WAY TO GO!!! THAT MUSTA BEEN AWESOME! glad you went back and got er. looks like a 6 to me. nice n long. c'mon now...7 foot medium? thats not ultralite! lol. still must have been sure fun to fight that fish though. ive never had a topwater explosion before but i'll bet that was one to remember! keep it up!
  22. way to go avid!!! nice to see a full pic of you and the fish and to see you smiling ;D what an awesome day...i wish i could have a few like that. keep it up!
  23. thanks for the good word. and just so you know, i didnt make the rubber jigs, i bought them
  24. fish4fun, none of the DT's are good for plowing thru weeds. no lure except weedless rigged soft baits are good for plowing thru weeds. they will allllll catch weeds. if you must fish weeds w/ crankbaits, try to determine the depth where the tops of the weeds are. if the tops of the weeds are 5' below the surface, then put on a DT4, so that it will just barely reach the top of the weeds. if the weeds are very sparse, then you could brave it out and just fish a DT marked at the depth of the weeds and just run it thru the open spaces in the weeds.
  25. hah! then i guess my jigs werent good : lol im not too worried about it ;D
