i was using the 4" in gizzard shad color. great little bait. i saw some at gander mtn. today but they didnt have the gizzard shad color. so i didnt get any. i ordered mine form basspro.com.

these are some pretty nice little lures. they are very cheap, but they swim so good!!! they look just like those high dollar swimbaits! only thing is, they arent very durable. the segments are very thin and rip easily. i caught one bass on one, then i hooked into a 10lber (snapping turtle that is :) i dragged that thing up on shore, and he was resisting arrest! he did NOT want to go on shore. i had some 50lb braid, so i wasnt worried about snapping the line, but finally the lure ripped out before i could get to it w/ pliers and half of the lure was gone o well they are cheap, i just wish i bought more than one cuz i did catch a nice 2lber off it.

yeah im gonna try this. i think i'll save it for when the fishing is quite boring and slow....that way im not totally wasting my time.

i caught a small bass aroun 14" down in south carolina on a 3" pumpkinseed. no different than using live bluegill as bait. pumpkinseed usualy have bright blue squigly lines going behind theyre eyes and blue speckles all around them. also, pumpkinseeds dont have the "bars" that bluegills usually have. here are are a few pics of my pumpkinseed and my sisters boyfriends pumpkinseed (his is the one attached to the rod).

yeah ive heard of ppl catching bass off gummy worms. i dont really think the licoriche would start dissolving too quickly....maybe though...iunno. and i dont know whats up with bass akwards, but if he was serious then yea some of those might actually work, but if you were making fun of me...then that is a bad thing :-/ and yeah i know bass like anise too, but anise is more like black licoriche, not strawberry licoriche. ps: im using strawberey cuz thats what we have and IMO it tastes like poo (now i love love love twizzlers, but this is the grocerey store brand, so i figure i'll let the fish have it lol! ;D)

ive got a bps lazer eye extreme static shad crank and a shallow running crank. i like em both. very well made and they run good too. the static shad looks alot like a shad rap. but it runs like a jerk bait...not good swiming action, but very good jerking action.

my friend got one and he too, like everyone else, says its not what it lives up to be. you really dont use the twitchin bar as much as you'd think. but besides that, the reel itself is ok. its probably a $150 dollar reel, the rest is just paying for that twitchin bar. its definitly something you can live without.

yeah i am very curious. they are hollow on the inside, so maybe i could close up one end and fill it w/ scent! they probly wouldnt have very much action though. i'll give it a try and let you all know how it goes.

ok so my neighboor came over yesterday and started talking w/ my dad. well i was sittin on the couch w/ them listening to them, but i was very tired after waking up early to go fishing. anyway, i just zoned out and focused on the bag of disgusting grocerey store brand strawberry licoriche sticks. then i got the crazy idea of texas rigging them!!!!! lol! we got a pound of them for like 2bucks, and nobody likes them so i'd have pleny of them to use as bait. anyone ever tried this? im really curious as to how it will work. i think it will either suck extremely bad or be extremely awesome, definitley not inbetween. what do you all think?

well all i gotta say is i agree with both sides, BUT once u try high dollar equipment, you will agree that its worth the money.

yea i think the SS stands for slinkier and squirmier. at least thats what it describes the bait as in the article for it. i never thought of using a shakey head. i'll have to try that...ive never shakey headed before....should be fun! thanks everyone.

well i just answered one of my questions. i was just on lunkers city's webpage (call me stupid but i didnt know that lunker city made sluggos!). i found out that they are sluggo ss. im gonna go read about them now. i'll still take any tips you have to offer though ;D

didnt want to thread jack the other sluggo topic, so i made my own. i have a pack of sluggos that my grandpa gave me when i was little. anyway, they are about 7.5inches long, but they are very very skinny! based on all the pics ive seen, sluggos are generally shad/fluke shaped. as in they tail is fat and tapers quick. well these look more like worms than any baitfish i've ever seen. they are very long, skinny, and have a slow taper. so, are there different types of sluggos? how can i use my sluggos? like a worm, a baitfish? thanks for any help.

i can vouch for that as being the worst feeling ever. i once threw a super bouncy ball at a cynder block wall and it came flying back at twice the velocity as when it left my hand and hit me right in the male parts. couldnt get out of bed the next morning. :-/ :-[ BUT i'd say the worst fishing feeling would be casting your brand new lucky craft and on the first cast having it land on a dock and bust. or for that matter, having brand new anything and having it break its first use. dont feel so bad you dont have a rod for it, the time will come, be grateful nothings broken!

anyone used these? they look super freaking sweet. theyre like the normal crawbugs (very realistic) only they come pre rigged with a weight in the tail and a stout snag guard, and a good hook. i bought a pack in crawdad color and in the 3something inch size. cant wait to try them. i dont ususally fish jigs/craws, but i'd like to start cuz i think it'd be effective. any tips on how to use these??? thanks!
