  1. I've heard less than flattering things about Fish Headz. I kinda wanted a motorcycle helmet anyway, so I killed two birds with one stone.
  2. My favorite is one you don't see much anymore: Cotton Cordell's Redfin. It's an oldie but goodie that works better for me than anything I have tried.
  3. OK, here's one caught on a Senko at Talquin a little over a year ago. It weighed 7 pounds 6 ounces.
  4. I went to the motorcycle shop yesterday and ordered a helmet. My head is so large they had to order a XXXL. :-?
  5. It's funny to see this topic right now because I just found a Silver Buddy that Billy Westmoreland gave me about 20 years ago. He told me that it was the best smallmouth bait he had ever used, but the manufacturer was too small to pay him an endorsement fee so he didn't use them on his show.
  6. It's funny how I went for years without ever catching a bass on a spinnerbait then, about 20 years ago, I started catching fish on them and have never stopped. I almost always have a rod rigged with one on the deck.
  7. x10000 x10000000000 I wonder if that Ziva screensaver that McGee had on his computer is available. . .
  8. White 3/8 oz Terminator spinnerbait. (The cheap one from Walmart)
  9. They're both young enough to be my daughters and their characters are both too smart to have anything to do with the likes of me. I think it would be fun to bowling with Abby though.
  10. Did anyone catch the mistake on NCIS last night? The good guys were given a web site to view a video of a murder. The web site was primitus_victor.com, which Abby points out to mean first victim in Latin. As smart as Abby's character is, she must have flunked Latin. Victor is the same word in English and Latin.
  11. Oh man! That's what I want!
  12. You betcha. I'm pumped!
  13. I had occasion recently to launch at an unlighted (unlit?) boat ramp. It was well before dawn and the dark of the moon. I had a booger of a time. Does anyone know of a spotlight that I could mount temporarily on my truck to light the ramp?
  14. I bought one of their reconditioned units last year. Daved a bunch of money and have been tickled to death with it.
  15. That is a beautiful bass. Don't you just love it when a day like that comes along?
  16. My tournament partner this past Saturday suggested that I might want to invest in a full face motorcycle helmet for winter tournaments. Anyone here use one?
  17. Tell you what, Talquin will keep you humble. There are plenty of good fish in it, but they don't come easy.
  18. I fished my second ever tournament Saturday on Lake Talquin with the Tallahassee Bass Anglers. Fishing was tough and only one limit was weighed in. Lake Talquin seems to be windy a lot, and Saturday was no exception. It rained hard all day Friday as a cold front moved through. I only had two fish, but one was this 4.98 pound fish that was big fish for the tournament and helped me take second place:
  19. Back in the late sixties we used to go to Lake Cumberland in Kentucky to fish for spotted (Kentucky) bass. Cumberland is a deep clear lake much like Dale Hollow. We would seine a bunch of crawfish from the creeks around Louisville and take them to the lake in a styrofoam cooler for bait. Four of us fished in a 14 foot aluminum boat, which wasn't that big of a problem since we were just dropping the crawdads over the side of the boat with one or two split shot as a weight. We just went from point to point catching fish in about 20-22 feet of water. I was using a fly rod with a Pflueger Medalist single action fly reel. I had loaded it with braided dacron line and was using a short monofilament leader tied to a Number 2 gold crappie hook. I hooked a fish that was obviously the biggest fish I had ever had ahold of. With that fly rod and single action reel I couldn't control him very well and it took a good long time to get him close enough to the boat to see that it was a smallnouth. I don't know that I had ever seen a smallmouth before. The fish weighed about three pounds. Back in those unenlightened days I thought nothing of putting it on the stringer along with a couple of dozen Kentuckies. I got back to Jamestown Dock expecting to receive the adulation of all in attendance. A boat pulled up at about the same time as we did. I pulled out the striger and showed my good smallmouth to the guys in the other boat who made suitably complimentary comments. They then pulled out a stringer with a half dozen fish identical to my good fish. Talk about getting your thunder stolen. It was OK, though. That is still just about the best fishing memory I have.
  20. I keep seeing these "Nobama" bumper stickers. Why is everyone so down on the Tide? :
  21. "Muskrat Love" by the Captain and Tennille "Afternoon Delight" by the Starland Vocal Band Someone mentioned The Little Mermaid. "Kiss the Girl" is a great song from that movie.
  22. My boss had a problem with black buzzards roosting on her house. She has gotten really good with a paintball gun. After three or four instances of getting popped with a paintball, the buzzards decided to roost on someone else's roof. I expect that the cats might respond in the same way. . . kind of a reverse Pavlovian response.
  23. So, LBH, you subscribe to the "there's no such thing as bad PR" school of thought?
  24. Does anyone except the suits at TBS think he's funny?
