  1. I was planning to hit 4mr this Sunday AM. Anyone fish there lately?
  2. I haven't checked in here in a while. Burke VA in the house.
  3. I have a question for those of you who fish the potomac and tributaries. If I get the little Tohatsu tuned well enough I'm planning to hit either Pohick bay or Occoquan river on Sunday. I want to target Snakehead. I know you guys normally catch them accidentally while fishing for bass. Where can I expect to find a good population of them? What techniques do they like? They like slow topwater right?
  4. I went to college at Geneseo in the early 90s and lived in a house on Conesus lake for a year. The house even came with a boat. I never once went fishing. I'm kicking myself. I hear there's good fish in there but sorry, I can't help you. I just needed to get that off my chest!
  5. Try slow rolling a buzzbait in the shallows just after sunset. Try throwing parallel to the shoreline just a couple feet out. Fun! Honestly I don't like to give out locations on this forum. Too many watchers that I know have spoiled other locations in the past. There are other more private sites.
  6. I'm terrible at organization and that's not just tackle. I wish I were better at it. I'm an atheist too... maybe that makes a difference? ;-)
  7. I picked up some dropshot hooks that are mounted on a two way swivel on clearance at Walmart. Do you guys like these better or worse than direct line tied hooks? Just wondering if there's significant advantage to using them.
  8. Last month I was fishing a tournament lake way up in Northern NYS and was fishing senkos t-rigged and wackied. Absolutely nothing. I started fishing them in this lake 5 years ago and always had luck with them. Then this year nothing. I switched to a brush hog and started nailing them. I'm starting to think the fish are learning that they are not good eats or something because of constant pressure. I think they've seen them too many times in some areas.
  9. Line & Lure... Why is it called that? Do you put it on your lures too?
  10. It's only brackish relatively close to the mouth at the Chesapeake right? How far up is it still considered "brackish"?
  11. Maybe a stupid question but I'll ask it anyway. When frog fishing with braid do you guys tie the frog directly to the braid or use a fluoro leader? I assume you're not too worried about line visibility in thick vegetation so the leader isn't needed. Did I answer my own question?
  12. I've been using a Mitchell (not sure of the model but I'm pretty sure it's a 300 something or other) that I picked up at Wal-Mart 3 or 4 years ago for I believe about $60. It's been my favorite spinning real ever since.
  13. Good call. My sister's brother's uncle's cousin measured a gain of 25 HP on the dyno after treating his moped with it.
  14. I haven't even thought about going fishing in this heat. Any of you guys having luck? I gotta think it's really slow going. I might try for some post sun-down buzzbait action some time this week.
  15. Where can I buy the KVD? I don't recall seeing it at Wal-Mart. My other options are Dick's and other local sporting goods stores. No real decent tackle shops close by that I can think of.
  16. Any of you guys use this stuff? A guy who lives a few miles from me has his own small in home jig/spinnerbait making setup and he holds garage sales every couple months to sell his inventory. He told me to pick up a can of this stuff. He claims that he hoses down his line and reel with it after every outing. Supposedly keeps the reel clean and water free as well as lubricating and prevents line spool memory.
  17. Nice to see all thes positive reviews. I had an unfortunate boating accident a few weeks ago where I fell in the boat and snapped 4 of my rods in half. I bought a 7 ft. Lightning baitcaster last week at WalMart as a cheap replacement for one of them. I wish I knew about the Shock series though. I'm sure I'll replace another with one of those now.
  18. Thinking about this, but man this seems like a lot of people. I'm more of a secluded fisherman if you know what I mean. I have a 12' jon boat with a 6HP engine that may or may not be working, but I did just buy a brand new battery for the trolling motor.
  19. Being that most bass fisherman are the "catch and release" type and you're posting this in a bass fishing forum, I wouldn't expect too much assistance on the bow fishing front. :-)
  20. I snapped 4 of the 5 rods I had in the boat a couple weeks ago when my buddy shook the boat and I fell on them. I am thanking my lucky stars that I don't spend a lot on my gear... Just picked up a $40 baitcaster replacement rod that I'm sure I'll be happy with. That's 1 down, 3 to go. ....and let my example serve as a lesson. Don't bring half a case of beer on the boat and not expect something to go wrong!
  21. Wow. Some of you guys fished yesterday?! It was HOT. Still is. No wonder it was slow. If I was a fish I'd go deep looking for the AC! Hey Redneck... would you happen to race at NOVA BMX? I'm an old school bmx guy myself and got my daughter into racing a bit last year. Sorry to the rest for the threadjack.
  22. t-rigged senkos are good for slow dragging over big rocks, particularly right along the shore of a dam at dusk. I've actually had more luck with creature baits this year. Baby brush hogs worked when I couldn't get a single bite on a wacky rigged stick bait.
