Is It Necessary?

Featured Replies

right now i only have one rod. it is a vendetta with black max 2. i fish every day with it and love it. it has 14lb mono on it. do i need any other rods for different techniques? i can basically use this for everything but frogs. (this would be the only reason i buy another)

You can use for everything including frogs ;)

Agreed, if you only want 1 rod it will work just fine. I used to say that to but over the years that I've dedicated to bass fishing ive found the need for more then 1. There isn't really any right or wrong answer :)

I don't know anything about that rod, but I, as an unsophisticated fisherman, use general-purpose rods. The reason I take multiple rods with me is for quick and easy lure changes. Back when I started over 40 years ago there wasn't the use of multiple rods like there is today. If one went fishing he took his rod and reel plus some lures and tools. Things have changed a little.

If you are a recreational fisher, than that 1 trusty rig is all you need. You have a good general purpose setup. If you decide to start fishing on a boat and doing some all day serious casting and retrieving, then you will want different rigs. The best advantage for having an assorment of rigs is so you dont have to keep pausing to rig different lures all the time. If one type of lure isnt working, put down that rig and pickup something different. The reel is already tuned for that specific lure, just throw and go.

I think Big O only fishes one rod.

It can make a fishing trip alot more fun and a bit more easy if you have more than one rod. I make my trips real easy,I have 26 rods in my boat. But that is just what I like to do. I am not saying YOU need that many! I guide and fish a few tournaments so I feel I need that many.. To answer your question yes, I agree that is a good all around rod.
