Anyone Have Any Luck In Southern Nh Yet? (4/6/12)

Featured Replies

Honestly there are alot of good people here. I was just stating a point and not targeting anyone on here that's for sure. We usually try to get everyone together on here to do a fish get together. I was able to get to one once with everyone and it was a blast. I hope we all can do it again. BTW we won't hold it against just because your from Mass. All good people sharing there fishing experiences. Hopefully I'll see you out there if you come up to the Nashua area.

I was talking about you. I can tell you're one of the good guys. I have read your posts over the last couple of years. Your love of fishing and your respect of the other fishermen shows through. By the way, I share your ongoing frustration that people like us continue to lose access to fisheries that are made private. We are not the ones causing the problems on the lake, and they should let us fish, as long as we keep the places clean and release all the fish.

Went out for some smallmouth today and we got what we wanted! The first fish I hooked up with was without a doubt my biggest smallie... I thought I was on the bottom until I felt her head shake, then

Shane and I got out today, fished a new sport for the first time and put together an alright day. Lots of pickerel, some pretty small bass but I did manage my biggest fish of the year SO FAR at 6lbs o

  • What's up, everyone?! Figured I'd bounce on here, say hi. I got so tied up in chasing fish this year, I forgot to do anything else. I hope you all are happy and healthy in this new year, and have big

As a bass fisherman, B.A.S.S state regional finalist, former club vice president including tournament director in Maine I can also feel the pain the modern bass fisherman goes through with the smaller lakes and ponds now limiting access to the sportsman. Nine times out of ten it will be the sportsman who offers help when needed, The sportsman is also sensitive to the prevention of invasive species to lakes and protection of the game fish species. It all boils down to education to show the many positives a sportsman offers. Dialog always goes a long way.

No fishing for me this weekend. Good luck boys. Post how you all did.

I agree with some of the points made about tournament fishing, it has exploded and weakened some good fisheries. My father lives on Big Island Pond and it has been overfished over the last few years. That being said they are still in there, you just have to look a little harder. The State of NH does a good job recording and regulating the waters and they cut back the amount of tournaments on BIP this year. They only had 8 total scheduled for the whole year, one prespawn (which was cancelled due to low water), one in the middle of July and the rest in August/September.

Anywho fished Massy this past weekend, got some pretty good fish brought to the scales. 8 boats in our tourney, 4 of them brought 5lb LM to the scales, including my old man. Can't believe how well that place fishes with how much pressure it sees. Bow Lake is next, anyone fish that lately? Going out there on Wednesday.

Hey guys long time. Took a couple weeks off and just moved over to Boscawen. Walker lake/pond is close. Also a small pond off elm st, and a larger pond/lake next to a wildlife preserve. Cant find the names of these places. Anyone ever try them? One more I see is pillsbury lake. Any info helps. Thanks

Fished Hunt's Pond the other day, had success in one spot of the pond and that was the far side of the pond if looking at it from the launch. Me and my day each landed 2 decent bass about 2 lbs biggest being 2.5lbs. But right as it got dark I hooked what looked like a 3+pounder on a slugo which got off right at the conoe, and my dad had a 4pounder at the boat which also got off...It's right on the way to Nubi and i think is overlooked. About 2 months ago uring school break i had a 3 pounder in my hands dropped it and the lure went directly in my leg. Probably the worst day of fishing there because my dad made me go to the hospital... but definatley give it a shot with a jitterbug and some rubber worms.

Hey guys, MA guy here. OK, so maybe this is a bit more central NH, but my brother has a place on Pine River Pond in Wakefield. He's selling it due to divorce. I got up there for a few days this week to help him finish up some projects before it goes on the market, and got to wet a line one last time on Sat morning. Fish were all over the place, basically. I don't fish too many places that have smallmouth down here in MA, so I've never caught any real good ones. I did manage a 2.9 smallie on Saturday, got him on a Rapala topwater lure:

That was my PB for smallmouth. Caught one other smallie, 2.1 lbs. Those are FUN fish to catch. Also got two LM that were both 3.2 and a bunch of other LM in the 2lb range. Off the water by 10am to head back home.

Sounds like a great day. Congratulations on your PB.

Hit Jenness Pond Sunday morning early. Waste of time. Temp dropped almost 20 degrees overnight. Gale force winds, gray, cold. Nothing would bite. I had to work hard to avoid getting skunked. Finally got a couple of 2 pound pickerel on crankbaits. The wind was terrible in the open water areas.

I fished the whole lake, weeds, rock, deep, shallow, LM, SM. Spinnerbaits, jigs, senkos, crankbaits, dropshot. It was the dead sea today.

The place has a good reputation, but it didn't work for me. I'm sure the weather was a factor, but it was disappointing.

fishing was slow for us today too. luckily my wife managed a 3.3 lm and i got a 2+ smallie.

Nice fish, always nice to see the better half out fishing... wish mine would!!

Dropped my canoe in Stump pond this morning behind Joeys diner in Amherst. I have not see anyone fish it this year from a boat. 9 lmb biggest 3lb 4 oz ... 1 pickerel 21 inch. Pumpkin worm, weightless rage craw, white topwater mouse. everything in the lilly pads nothing in the middle where there are no pads on top. Fished my Zara Spook a lot but no hits

nice to know there are bass in that pond nev! i have fished it multiple times from the road with no luck at all. glad you got some decent fish out of it.

Nice Tom. Where were you at.

Another pond close to there is honey pot... which ive heard from a couple of friends holds some decent 4 pounders... heard of a 5.5 lbs but not from anyone i'd trust, never know though. I would suggest using slug-o's or any of your favorite rubber worms along the edges of the pads later in the day. Personally I have been there once for about a half hour before it started to storm and managed to catch a 2lbs LM.

I live right by honey pot pond and have fished it multiple times this year as its a quick spot to stop and drop the canoe off. i have managed to catch what seems like the same 4 or 5 3 to 3.5 pond bass each time i go out. i have seen a few bigger than that in there and have too heard of a five pounder coaught there but i too find it hard to believe until i see it or catch it myself. all that said it still is a fun pond to kill a few hours and catch some decent fish everytime.

I have not been to Honey pot but it is on my list. Any other ideas to try for these samll places in the Nashua area?

I fish Naticook, Stump, Nashua river, Merrimack river and the Pennichuck area a lot in this area, I get to fish Concord/Loudon area wed afternoons

Round pond? Do you know how to get into the 3rd Pennichuck pond? I do not.

I normally need to be to work in Nashua around 8:30 in the morning so i stay close. Usually when i get out its in the 5 am range till 8ish. I either fish or play hockey in the morning.

I tried round pond years ago and got skunked. It was very very shallow (like 3ft) all the around, I heard there USE to be a few big bass in there. Give it a shot let me know.

I know of some good spots near greenfeld but they are probably to far away though. One spot that is good to drop a canoe or kayak in for a few hours is lincoln pond, right along 101 in amherst, my dads friend has caught several 3.5+lbs fis in there and he has claimed to have fish next to his conoe close to 5.5lbs. Lots of great underwater cover for big bass to hide in, I have been once this year and plan on going again, probably couldn't work a crankbait in there, i would suggest rubber worms and try to work them in deep gaps of cover, i think it will produce more bass in the spring but i think you should definatley give it a try if you are in that area.

(you park right along the road then a path leads yu right to the water, can't miss it...)

weightless rage tail craw... with a really thin light hook

Went to the Nashua river this morning. Didn't have much time but i threw the canoe in for about 6:30 for less than an hour. Found this one ... i am calling it 5 ... even though my scale said 4 -11
