Anyone Have Any Luck In Southern Nh Yet? (4/6/12)

Most tournaments don't allow the use of tiller motors. Mostly because they do not have a safety guard where if you fly over the boat the motor will not stop.

Went out for some smallmouth today and we got what we wanted! The first fish I hooked up with was without a doubt my biggest smallie... I thought I was on the bottom until I felt her head shake, then

Shane and I got out today, fished a new sport for the first time and put together an alright day. Lots of pickerel, some pretty small bass but I did manage my biggest fish of the year SO FAR at 6lbs o

  • What's up, everyone?! Figured I'd bounce on here, say hi. I got so tied up in chasing fish this year, I forgot to do anything else. I hope you all are happy and healthy in this new year, and have big

BPS Pro Qualifier came in the mail today feels perfect on my 7'0 Medium/Heavy Rod can't wait to rip some lips on the Rage Craws. Also bought another 7'0 medium rod for my spinning combo for some Spinner bait and Texas Rig Fishing. April hurry your A** up man I am ready to fish.

Stood in line for the new Bass Pro Shops today for about an hour and ended up being one of the first 100 or so people in. It was interesting to see how enthusiastic every employee was haha. My only complaint was that the staff wasn't super knowledgeable which was to be expected. I don't think the application for working behind the reel counter required much in the way of fishing knowledge but the employees helped to the best of their ability regardless! I walked out with a new Mojo 7'4" cranking rod that Shane helped me pick out and a Diawa Exceller 4.9:1 ratio baitcaster. It's going to be nice having a BPS so close by, now we wait for ice out..

Yeah, Buddy! It was nice meeting you. Can't wait to hit the water!

They would put a BPS in new hampshire after I leave.

Well, look at it this way. NH was probably the last state in the country to get one, so there's one wherever you are now, and two, you ARE out of NH, so what are you complaining about?

Ill be honest with you, I like bass fishing other parts of the country(living in north carolina right now) but I happen to have a honey hole out in NH that will outfish(in terms of quantity of 1-4lb bass) any body of water I have ever been on. I find myself yearning for it when things are slow then I hook into a big ol southern bass and I forget about it while I try to find the next one.

Plus no one around here likes to fish during the winter because its *too cold* but im outside in shorts and sweatshirt just begging to go. I have a thing about fishing alone :(

Looks like you grabbed the right stuff!

Were there a lot of sales going on with grand opening?

  • Super User

I didn't see anything special.

  • Super User

No, I didn't either. I guess today they were doing some specials, and door prizes and stuff, but  no, nothing big.

PS- You know what else I didn't see? Derrick! Where were you at, mane?

has anyone used the bps flurocarbon. its only 10 buck a spool and i was thinking using it this year

I rigged one of the craws up to see if I did the rig correctly. Is this correct?

I personally cut my craws down a little bit shorter but its personal preference. I have had good luck with that color scheme on Northwood lake and Lucas Pond in Northwood

Funny you say that haha I fish Northwood Lake religiously lol. I have a camp up there and we fish it all summer last year my uncle was killing them on Jigs and Texas Rig Worms.  My Great Grandpa holds the record on the lake at 8lb 14oz and 8lb 6oz large mouth on the lake. Hopefully gonna catch some big ones this year on the lake I have a few spots that I know for a fact hold some big ones on the lake.

The kids and I went up this morning, last night was too hectic. I was disappointed, so much so that I left without buying anything.

Hell yah, I grew up in Northwood but ill let you in on a little secret, your within 5 miles of 2 of the best bass fishing spots I have seen anywhere in the country(one for quality, the other for sheer numbers)

If I make it out to NH this summer ill have to show you the one spot because its a pain to get to but I promise you tight lines every cast. Its an abandoned bass hatchery from 30 + years ago.

My uncles had the camp for almost 30 + years now he has fished everywhere around Northwood and he knows Northwood lake like the back of his hand except a lot of new cover has been recently appearing and we recently found a sunken island small randomly in the lake. This spot has been producing us major bass in the past year my uncle caught a 4lb smallie here last year.

So judging from some comments I m going to Cabelas today instead of BPS just to stay out of the crowds I am sure BPS will still be around. With the recent snow and warmer temps it could start melting the ice sooner :) I actually uncovered the boat this morning and took all my rods and reals out much to the annoyance of my wife. now time to clean up the reels and reline them all. Have a great weekend. Can't wait to be out on a NH lake soon.
