Senkos are just another lure in the arsenal.  I like fishing all different kinds of lures, buzz baits, crank baits, spinner baits, frogs, jigs, worms, etc. Each day I go out fishing I let the fish tell me which lure is working best for conditions. The important thing is to have confidence in the lure your using. I have confidence in all the baits I have on each of my rods.  Senkos do catch big fish too, the two biggest I have caught on senkos are an 8-9 and an 8-10. I have the 8-9 mounted on my wall. I have landed lunker in several tournaments on senkos as well including a 6-2, a $500 fish in a tournament 2 years ago.

 

If I had choice of all my lures I would prefer to fish the jig above all else.

I have a ton of them from way back in 2010 my Uncle's Fishing partner works for a big tackle company so he had so many that he just gave me bags upon bags of them millions of colors I might have to throw some in my tackle box again haha. Only problem is my tackle box is getting too full haha I have so much stuff in there I only use 50% of it anyway lol.

ive only been bass fishing for two years so im slowly expanding my techniques each year. i cant seem to catch anything on a jig. i keep trying though. only one time did i get a huge hit on a jig but my knot came undone when i set the hook. and yes i changed what knot i use on jigs. i try and throw things im not used to when i first go out. but when i start running out of time i go to my confidence baits to at least get one or two fish in the boat.

I have the same problem. I need to go through my tackle box and get rid of some stuff. Or.... maybe I will just get a bigger tackle box ?

 Keep on fishing the jig. They do catch fish. I like to fish my jigs in the thickest nastiest cover I can find, right in the middle of it. I use a palomar knot or a double palomar knot when I tie on, no matter what lure.

I have a 3 tray box and that fits all my baits and stuff but it's getting kinda full might upgrade to a 6 tray. I don't really like the soft tackle boxes with the planos because when it's wet your bag gets soaked and I like having everything right in front of me not having to open up a Plano every time

 

I understand about having to much stuff, took a photo what i dug out of one storage locker on my boat last year lol. This is the soft bait closet.

Up until 2 years ago I had fished jigs here and there without any luck as well. I spent a few days of using nothing but jigs to build confidence in how it should feel and how to detect bites. Now it is my go to bait and you won't find me on the water without one tied on to one of my rods. Put in some time with them and it will certianly pay off for you 

all this talk about having to much tackle is killing me lmao. i did go through my tackle and realize i might have to much soft plastic and am getting more so i can start trying to drop shot this year. got a new *** ml spinning rod.

"State law prohibits the use of lead sinkers and jigs in all fresh water in New Hampshire, including lakes, ponds, rivers and streams. The ban prohibits the use of lead sinkers weighing 1 ounce or less and lead jigs less than 1 inch long along their longest axis." - NH Fish & Game

 

The majority of bass jigs are more than 1 inch long, so you should have no issues. If you are using jigs under 1 inch long, definitely move up to a 1/2 or 3/4 ounce with a rage craw trailer and you will have much better results.

There's nothing we can do about it, hopefully this will start making the prices come down. I have picked up some hybrid tungsten bullet weights for my worm rigs they worked pretty well last year. Currently any lead jig under a inch is illegal. At least we have till 2016 to use up the other lead jigs. I have already started to buy tungsten over lead anyways its just smart.

i hope the count the hook on the jigs for the one inch. i assumed its just the lead part they would measure. and i buy steel sinkers now. i like tungsten but im not making money on fishing so its hard to throw that much money in the water.

It's the whole hook with jig they measure. they are going after the fact that hooks dissolve and it leaves the lead part behind from which the birds (Loons) pick them up when they are bottom feeding.  after 2016 its all jigs made with lead that will be banned. Lead shot weights lead bullet worm weights are now illegal. I went through it for bird hunting with lead shot it was a pain but now a fact of hunting. 

Aright we need a new topic on here that'll keep us going haha. My question is what is the first place you'll fish when the spring hits. I know mine is gonna be the Nashua River right around the first 2 weeks in April. Gonna be targeting that hog in there hopefully I'll crush him on the rage craws on the jig.

The 1st place I'm looking forward to fishing is Cobbetts with Deak. Haven't fished there during Spring. The 1st place I'll probably fish will be the Exeter River in late March for trout.

Madbury reservoir. My favorite  place to fish as soon as the ice is melted.

Other than that, I'm ready for Squam, Turtle, Bow, Cobbett's, and especially Highland. Also got an undisclosed location that's hiding my record fish I'm gonna get all over asap!

Hopefully I will be able to get up to Highland again this year and have some better luck there. That place was cool it was a far ride from me, but it was just a nice place. Also when I fished it I stuck to the cove areas, but I think the bigger ones are gonna be deep off of the points and islands and such.

I fished Deering Res a ton back when I was in middle school. Mostly ice fishing, but did some fishing out of a canoe also. The place was an awesome fishery, where we would get good numbers of brown trout, perch, pickerel, hornpout and smallmouth. The place was loaded with crawfish and we always did well using craws for bait aroud the 2 big islands. People also smelted there too, so there is plenty of food to create some big bass.

Merrimack River for me, Where it meets the Nashua River.  and then the Nashua river when it opens up.

Most of my fishing is down in the Nashua area, except on Wed when i am up in the Concord area.

My list of places is mostly is mostly here in the south end of the state.

Although i plan on hitting Bow Lake as much as i can this year.  The few times i made it there last year were great.

Going to hit Mill Pond early season , as well as Baboosic Lake ,

 

Also a day trip to the CT River, I want a big Pike , the bigger the better. I made it there once last year but between the wind and waves i did not have any luck with much.

This year for sure.

First lake I always fish a small lake to make sure my boat works well (Swains) then I will head to my next two spots Winni and Great East.

How is the fishing at great east ? A friend of mine had a club tourney there a couple year ago. The winner caught exactly one bass. He was the only person to catch a bass...
