Just got back from a short 2 hour outing with two fish, one good one...

They were both real shallow in 1-2 ft of water and came on the 4" huddleston weedless shad (golden shiner)... Here's the brute at 5.1

How fast were you swimming the hud? I was throwing a swim jig like it was my job there, but I might have been swimming it to fast didn't know if you were slow rolling it or burning umm.

I fished out "deep" (5-7ft)  at first with a jig and the hudd and got nothing and did that for probably half the trip actually... When I finally moved shallow I was seeing some gills moving around which caught my attention and I started to slowly swim it in and around the lillies. Both were shallow, not a single swipe in the offshore stuff..

Haha sounds like much like my day I didn't get to those pads choked up in the corner. I followed those gills all around they were everywhere.

I have a love hate relationship with that body of water. Absolute monsters in there though.

It's a hit or a miss place. 

Got out today with jitterbug brought him to my secret honey hole. The fish were definatelly on fire today. Caught about 20-25 fish between 1.5-2.5lbs. Caught them on everything from swim jigs to top waters. All in all solid day here's some pics from today's outing.

Keep on fishing guys. Big bass are biting now.

i am hoping to get out mon and/or wed in the dark of morning 5 - 8 am before work.  it has been a few weeks since i have been able to get out

Reading these reports from my dorm room is making me go crazy... I might have to come home this weekend and get in some late season bassin'. They stocked the Isinglass River and Cocheco last weekend so I might have to revert to the fly rod to get my fishing fix. Keep fishing till hard water guys and good luck!

Got out on saturday afternoon. Was able to get my best of the year 6.3lbs on one of my own custom made creature baits. Missed more fish than I caught, they weren't always getting the hook. Hope the weather holds up, this is the perfect time of year!

Got out on Powder Mill Pond today... This place was completely dry about month, month and a half ago but I saw it was filled and had to check it out!

 

Turned out to be a really nice day once I got the wind situation under control and had a solid pattern going..

 

They were nailing moving baits and I kept them large, got 5 bass that were all over 3lbs and the biggest was pushing 4... 

 

No giants, but a great solo mission, will be back at it tomorrow in another location, tight lines!

 

Nicely done jitterbug. Glad to see someone besides myself is still getting out fishin. Great time of year to catch big bass. 

Will be going out today in the Northwood area. To one of my secret spots. I have faith I'll get on them. Also booked my plane ticket to Florida for the 17th gonna hit the Big O before my season ends and I take off to Chicago for boot camp. Good luck brothas. Keep slaying them pigs.

It may not be as quick as you think right now to establish a pattern. This is the exact time of year a lot of people start to struggle. If you were fortunate enough to catch the short window of very aggressive feeding, then you may be expecting the fish to just be going crazy like they were a couple weeks ago. Front after front, extreme fluctuations in barometric pressure and temperature, oxygen levels changing dramatically, angle of the sun, and of course going from low low water, to very high water, are all your main factors in what mood those fish are in. Will you still find bass near food supplies as always? Yes, pretty likely, however, finding them there (or anywhere) with this particular set of environmental circumstances, is sometimes challenging. I'm a big fish hunter, so I choose to always start on my off-shore humps, and points first, and this time of year, I want to know where any active fish are immediately, if not sooner, so a crank will get in there and scout a section of the area I wanna hit. If I get hit, I'll go to a jig, see what happens. At least 3 flips to each primary target. If I get on fish that way, I have a pretty good idea my depth I should be working, and to what they are relating to. Depending on how those first two presentations went, If I need to keep looking for fish, I will check shallow, often using a topwater as my search bait first, tossing it all the way up onto shore, and slowly crawling it into the water, and creeping it back to the boat. If that works, sweet, if not, I'll switch to a swim jig, and make my way through the water column, see if they are on those wind blown shorelines following baitfish. Of course, I'll never pass standing timber if it's in my target depth, and a jig or a Tx -rigged Lobster, Bug, or Space Monkey on braid to check all those. Again, hit as close to the tree as possible, then try the other side, then put a couple behind and to both sides of it. I could flip trees all day, every day, and be happy. Just be versatile out there, keep your lake changes in mind, don't be afraid to try as many things as you need, and you can still have a successful late Fall, and they are all fat right now, so you just might mess around and catch a PB. I'll see you out there.

Got off the pond around 2 after putting a dozen smallies into the boat. average size was 2lbs with the biggest at 3.8lbs I thought it was going to be a great start hitting a smallie on the second cast with a shadow rap stick bait but then it got hard 20 ft deep with watermelon with red speck spider grubs on a football head or a black with blue tube bait till the bite died around 1. The weather was almost to perfect with no breeze on a crystal clear pond.

Definitely a tough day, for me at least... Tried my first spot for about 4 hours with no givers just some perch nibbles and then moved on and got tossed around by the wind in my 2nd spot.

The bass have been slamming blade baits the past coupe of times I have been out. I have been fishing them in 10-35 ft and getting a lot of 3-4 lbers, smallmouth and largemouth. This time of year when the water temperature is 50 degrees or less I do very well with a blade bait. I use to exclusively fish a jig until ice up. Once I started fishing a blade bait I noticed I got more bites then a jig and I was still catching quality fish. Yesterday I was out on Champlain fishing a blade bait with my friend. Out biggest 5 smallies weighed in at 20 lbs 4 ounces.  Last weekend I had a similar day fishing a blade bait back in Maine.  Blade baits are a proven technique this time of year. Blade baits are very consistent this time of year. A jig works well and is always good option in my opinion. It seems though the amount of bites I get doubles when switching from a jig to a blade bait this time of year. I will be fishing a blade bait until the ice is though sick I cant break through it with my boat.
