When gluing a trailer to a jig, can I use super glue, or should I use something like venom worm glue?

There is really no need for glue.

why are you gluing your trailer on?  maybe you're not rigging them properly?  they shouldn't be coming off.

Contrary to what has been stated some trailers need to be glued depending on the type of trailer and the configuration of the jig head.

Some jig heads don't hold plastics too well like JigMan stated.

I don't use a whole lot of glue though.Just a small dot on the top and bottom where the plastic connects to the jig.Just enough to keep it from twisting on you and coming off if you go through some weeds.

which jig heads do you have to glue?  Never used any that didn't hold the bait.

Ball head type jigs.Used mainly for walleyes and smallmouth bass.Teamed up with a 2-3" grub.

Gluing it also prolongs the plastic a little bit as well.Ever had a big hole in the front of your plastic bait after a bite? Try casting it out again after a bite that plastic bait slides down the hook badly.Gluing it stops that.

If one has to glue their trailers I would suggest they are using the wrong jigs

I throw Terry Oldham's trailer hitch jigs and seldom replace trailers even after dozens of bass.

When I am using small jig heads for smallie fishing I use a small piece of floral wire, twist it around the eyelet and leaving about 1 inch of wire. I then use that to stick through my soft plastic and it holds very well.

I do glue my trailer with Krazy-glue (actually use loctite), but only when I am skipping and want a slow fall.  Instead of threading the plastic on, i single hook it.  If anyone has found a better way, utilizing this technique, to hold the bait, please post.....

Super glue is a must have for plastics in my opinion. You can make sure the trailers don't slip (Powerbait or Gulp is notorious for this) or repairing baits. A dab on knots, whatever.

Unless you are using the cheapest plastics, are sponsored, or have a "sugar momma" you try to make things last a little longer.

I haven't noticed any difference and i'm usually pretty messy with the super glue.  ;D

I love using super glue on my jig trailers. reason why is when you push them up on the keeper they will stay up until you hook into about 3-4 fish. but if there glued you dont have that problem. ive caught 15 fish before without the trailer sliding down when using glue.

Never use glue. I fish the Oldhan Trailer Hitch jig and have never needed to glue. It might be the package you are trying to put together. Some mate up better than others. If I were to glue a trailer, it would only destroy the current trailer when making a change.

Hmm...I didn't think people would be against glue so bad. Why are yall so much against it? Guess to each his own.

  personally I am all for it. I believe that it holds the trailer up better when skipping a lure and it helps the trailer last longer. Some soft or lacking of the denseness plastics ( I could think of the right word  ) have trouble staying up after being used for a short while. so glue on the head will extend the usefulness of that bait atleast twice as long. I think anyone short on money and wanting to be innovative should look into it.
