Wiggle In The Shimano Spinning Handles

Featured Replies

On most of my lower end -$100 shimano spinning reels (sienna, sahara, sedona) there's a gap (.021) in the grip on the handle. It looks to be arbor pressed in so how can I close the gap to where no side to side movement when I'm retrieving? I got some ideas but I'm wondering if there's a know solution for this

Clip-on spacer?

Yup, try and find one of those clip on plastic spacers. Just put a lil grease on it and your good to go

I was thinking that or cutting up some shim-stock to place in the gap

Much A Do About Nothin..

Nothing more than the reels tolerance gaps. Fill it and it will probably try to bind up...

Tight Lines! :fishing1:

x2 Fishability shouldn't be affected. If the handle play is a deal breaker, your best bet is to invest in a higher end reel rathe than tinker.

I have plenty of time to tinker :eyebrows: besides, it helps me find out how the problem occurred

Now that you mentioned 'bind', I don't recall having these problems when I bought them. I think it's just how I used them over time they developed, like a worn tire pulling a car to either side, since my body mechanics are different than the average user

After looking at it again I noticed the pin that holds the grip wobbles, there's nothing I can do with it now. This a sahara 1000 handle by the way.
