I will go with two.....

Red Eye Shad...... have alway loved the rattle trap, thought the red eye shad was going to up the ante the way it is touted..... and have not caught a fish while I lose em left and right. By the way, I have NEVER lost a rattle trap..... sure the lure is great, just not for me.

Chatterbaits and big wake baits.

If I buy something new I keep at it until I do catch something with it.

Nothing works all the time, and everything works some of the time.

A lure manufacturer is not going spend the time and money to market a lure that has been a failure in their own testing. If it's on the shelf, it will catch fish.

Senkos as well for me. I keep some in the box cause I know they can work, but I can't catch a cold with them. Rage craws, also. They've worked well for me on one lake, but no other lake have I ever had a bite on them.

Crankbaits are the worst for me though. The last 4 years, I have not caught a single fish on a crank, and hardly from lack of trying. Probably because I'm better at beating the banks than fishing deep, and not having any electronics makes it hard to find a decent producing spot. I got a few more square bills over the winter so maybe I can entice a few that way this year.

Sebile Magic Swimmers. They're Northern Pike magnets for me, and thats all.

Spinnerbaits and Senkos, never caught a single fish. Funny.

Those are my "go to" baits. Considering that I'm fishing from shore 90% of the time, I have not caught much on cranks that dive deep.

Salt & pepper colored tube jigs. I always try them when I know the fish are feeding on shad but I've never even gotten a bite on one. I put it down and pick up my chrome and black bomber model A and start catching fish. I'm not sure why I keep trying them, hard headed I guess.

How do you work your crankbaits? I ask because I can out catch my buddy 3 to 1 on crankbaits because he only uses a steady retrieve when he fishes them. I constantly start and stop them with varying lengths of time on the pause and retrieve. Most of my strikes come after a pause.

I can't catch a cold with a Beaver. Tried for two years, gave them all away, and haven't bought any since.

I'm much the same. I don't know why, or what it is. I don't do well with that style of creature bait at all. I'd rather fish a Hawg or Space Monkey.

8" Hudds. Been tossing them for 2 seasons now. Not all the time, but I give them a decent work out. And I'm putting them where big bass reside. I've caught them. Just never seem to get a tap on these very popular swimbaits.

The opposite for me, started throwing the 8" Hudd last summer and within 5 minutes caught a 5-1/2lber to initiate me and stuck some others since then. I can't catch fish so far on the regular 6" Hudd or the Hudd 68.

I think certain swimbaits have the right combination of vibration patern & size and it will be a variable for each lake. If you haven't given up on the these baits try the inline 7" Rago BVD in a light Hitch color, this one is my confidence bait and has gotten bites on a number of different lakes.

For me it is a jig. I couldn't pay a fish to bite a jig.

Fat Ika, although it is probably a lack of confidence, or patience due to rigging issues. They ride down on the hook whenever they touch bottom or weeds.
