i'm looking to get my brother a nice pair of polarized glasses for christmas. he mostly shoreline fish. whats a good pair at a decent price. durability is a plus, we're in michigan so something that does good in murky water mostly sunny conditions.

Make sure whatever you get offers full UV protection from both A and B rays. No sunglasses can help you see better in murky water, though.

I've bought a couple nice pairs at Sam's Club for about $60. Can't remember the brand right now but they are good for the price.

Costa del mar 480 swordfish. I bought them last year and love them. They are worth the $200 paid.

I have a couple pair from Native Eyewear that I really like. They run about $120 and you can get them on-line or at REI. They have an interchangeable lens system. I don't really bother, but it's easy to pop them out and swap for a new color. My first pair got a little crack in the top. Sent them back, paid $10-15 for shipping and they sent me a new pair. That's a nice warranty.

P.S. In case you're worried about that crack and durability...I'll admit that I smashed myself in the face with my car door and I'm pretty sure that's how it happened. I just didn't notice it for a month or so.

Costa Del Mar glasses are great but would be an expensive gift.  I own a pair of the Native Silencers and love them.  I've compared them side by side with my fishing buds Del Mar 580s & thought they worked just as good.  The only difference was that the Del Mars would be a little more comfortable during all day use.

I wait till walmart has there clearance sale in the spring and i grab any polarized glasses that are cheap i got a bad habit of losing or breaking them.

I like to watch behind my lures for the short strikes.  If you don't wear glasses you will never see the short strikes when they happen.  I was watching a Bill Dance show when he was fly fishing for bass and noticed all the short strikes happening.  I don't think he saw them but the cameraman picked up on it i'm sure.  So wearing polarized glasses when fishing is very important.

costas are great sunglasses. but for fishing shoreline in murky water i think maui jims are THE way to go. stingrays preferably. bronze lens.cant believe everything you read online but do whatever you can to make an exception for my suggestion.

I spent 200 bucks on Costa's triple tail with green mirror lenses, and have not one thing to complain about.  After fishing for the longest time with the cheap ones from walmart, I must say these are well worth the money I spent.  They are comfortable for all day wear.

After reading this thread I went to ebay and got a pair of native eyewear glasses new, shipped for $43.00.
