I did the rest of mine yesterday to scratch the itch. Probably not the best idea with fluoro but shouldn't be anything some KVD L&L can't manage.

Im going into BPS tomorrow.Ill drop a couple reels off at the counter and have them spool them while i buy something else i dont need.

Eyes peeled for tomorrow. I hope it melts the couple places I want to go lol.

i have tomorrow off so ill be out for sure!!! cant wait! checking out a new pond ive been dying to fish! locked up on saturday so hopefully i can fish it tomorrow! if not ill be back fishin for smallies at the spot i fished last sunday

If I was home this weekend I'd definitely be looking to launch my kayak too. I'll be fishing from shore tomorrow though. 

I'm not working tomorrow, as yet, so if I don't get a call in the morning, I'm heading south to Plymouth, or Cape Cod... 

 

This is one case I'm hoping not to work OT...

Tried from shore for a couple hours. No bites, water temps were about 40. I did manage to snag a nice rock and lose a tungsten ball jig. Oh well. I am pretty excited to use those though. Little 1/8oz ball jigs and some 2.8 keitechs.

Try as I might this week, I just can't get my kayak wet. Got called back to work again this morning so Plymouth Smallies were safe.

 

Got out of work mid afternoon and drove over to Ponkie to see what there was to see.  I saw ice with a lot of round, healed, holes that suggest someone was ice fishing. The water level was high, a good thing for post thaw fishing. Kayak is still dry.  

 

Drove by BHR and St. Moritz on the way home.  BHR had a thin layer of ice ans St. Moritz was half open.

 

I'm gonna give Plymouth another try Saturday.

Where is "by you"?  Despite the warm temps I'm still seeing a thin layer of ice or half iced-out lakes/ponds for the majority of the water by me.  Still not sure if I'll get out tomorrow, but knowing some spots where the ice is all gone could prove useful..

Man this warm weather is killing me inside. Making me want it to be spring that much more. 

struggled in the wind in the yak yesterday! gave up with no fish. drove around pond hoping. found a 2.5lbser in a small pond on jerkbait. went out today before work IN SHORTS!!! WOOOOOO. fished 2 ponds! 1st pond was a bust, nothing been like 10 years since ive been there. fished another pond i frequent. caught a small pickerel and 4 small bass on jigs! biggest was pushin 2lbs

Hit the pond today!!! Nothing on the pointer 78 or the RES.Couple guys catching them on a jerk and a wacky worm.Ill try again tomorrow.

Finally got my kayak wet!  Got some recommendations from swamp hawgs (THANKS MIKE!) and drove to Plymouth after dropping my daughter off at work.  

 

Launched around 11:00 and got two nice smallies straight away (one on the FIRST cast) on a Rapala Shadow Rap deep dressed in Halloween in about 8' of water.  They were both good sized, but skinny, weighing just under a pound each.  It got quiet for the next few hours.  I threw the Rapala, a brown/orange hair jig, a Silver Buddy, and jointed Rapala Shad Rap disguised as a smallie with not so much as a whiff until about 3:00 when something took it.  Headquarters called me back to work as I reeled in my prize, and as luck would have it, whatever I had on felt the slack line and spit me.  

 

One or two casts later I caught possibly my PB yellow perch on the jointed Rapala.  It was nearly as big the two smallies I caught.  After putting the perch back I had to high-tail it back to my station.

 

Water temps started at 46.x and topped out at 49.x on the Northern shoreline.  Barometric pressure at 3:00 was 29.6x and falling.

 

A good first day out for sure.

Me too.  I hope catching a smallie on my first cast of the season sets a good precedence.  And with next week's forecast calling for 50's,  I'm going to burn a LOT of gas next week driving to and from Plymouth!

Went out on the canoe, paddled out at about 9. Caught nothing for about an hour. Drop shots brought no luck, same with worms. Switched to a jig and caught 2 bass, under 3 lbs and 2 pickerel. It was nice to just be out there for a few hours!!

Mike, do you use an anchor?  I started with a five pound claw and moved to a seven.  I have trollies on both sides of my Lure and one on my Ascend.  The seven pound anchor keeps me still in all but really harsh winds.  I got it at West Marine in Braintree.

WOW! Almost 50 degrees already?! Nice to see people are catching them though. I probably won't be able to fish for a couple more weeks still. This week we're supposed to get some warm rains and next weekend looks like we might get some skim ice again in places. Overnights back into the teens. 

It's great to see some of you out there at it!  Seek out the big girls, they eat too.

 

  Dogbone,  Rhino said he will be back sometime in March, also that he will notify us, when he returns.

 

 I might have the chance to register and float the basshunter soon, it's electric motors offer wintertime fishing if open water can be found. If I do get it registered and going, you can be sure I'll be out there with ya's.

Just want to chime in and say I really enjoy the fishing reports/insight that this thread provides. It has been nearly 30 years since I moved away and I sure do miss living/fishing back there. Hoping to take my wife and sons on a family trip back there this summer (Carver/Plymouth) area to see relatives. Until then, I look forward to reading about your fishing outings.
